The enviroment and house architecture is perfectly represented.

Only objection is that the modern houses (not the traditionally styled), look rather faded and aged.

But Yes I can live with it ! :)

Yes, ARMA2 warping in MP games is terrible. I hope they sort that out,

The path finding when building a nice AI convoy ambush mission is shit as well. The ability for AI soldiers to walk through carefully constructed walls for mission editor custom bases is also a right pisser.

The fluidity of the animations is also an annoyance and something that should be focussed on. In the gamescom video I noticed he pressed 'V' by mistake and I could still see the sorta clunky way it then moves back into the running/walking animation. I bet if you fall/'jump' off a small height as in ARMA2 there will still be that delay before you can keep moving in the new title. We'll see, I suppose.

With that said, I am looking forward to it and will most likely buy it after weighing up just what exactly they've focussed on. If they haven't made a complete overhaul or at least adjusted and tweaked, with a vast improvement over the predecessor, some of these rather long in the tooth bugs and problems then I'll start feeling somewhat cynical about the real incentives and/or intentions of the developer.

I can't help but think that fancy screenshots with full on resolution is slightly missing the point when it comes to something like ARMA. What they really should want/need to focus on is the AI, and to be able to show that off!

The 'I' actually standing for what it should, not something like Ignorance, Inability or Ineptitude.

It's nice to see graphical improvements and nice graphics certainly impress. I like feeling like I'm in a high quality, very well produced and immersive environment but I would dearly like the feeling that I'm playing something far deeper than that, with awareness, reactions, animations and individuality within the AI that would stand apart from other games/sims.

He touched upon the scene where the crew of the boat would lean on the side, well that's great and stuff but, really... Is that all you have to say about the personality of the units in the game. The other problem for me is that the video clearly has the enemy AI on the 'dumb' setting. Dunno why and don't care but it would have been really nice to see some clever movement and awareness.

When the mine goes off, jumps in the air and takes one o the enemys out, I wouldn't expect someone else to just run past and get blown up by another. I also didn't like how the soldier stopped in the road and healed himself. It would have been a nice touch if someone else had come to his side and moved him away or the guy himself found cover to heal.

The scope thing is a nice touch, ragdoll looks ok/good, glad it's finally in there! The ability to change clothes is also fairly cool but how is this system gonna work? Just grab a a new suit and go kill all the people who don't recognise you? Hmm, what fun. I wonder if the animations will be a little tidier than what we saw there, I thought it was rather comical:

"Hello, all of a sudden I'm changed into different clothes and this dude is in his boxers and a vest." Come on, show him ripping his trousers down with extreme accuracy and speed, BIS!...

Looks great (as mentioned so did Arma / Arma II before release)

But... when are they going to realistically portray CQB combat!

I noticed in the videos they still show battle hardened soldiers 'flopping' the gun around while slow walking with sights up. It is like the guy is taking huge steps with the amount of sway going on.

Yup warping in MP is terrible if you choose the wrong servers to join or have a bad quality bandwith/infrastructure.

I also hope most small annoying details will be ironed out. Atleast its confirmed that realistic reload animations are possible. Also the demo played did not have the new animation system implemented for the soldiers and partially for the AI. Its still a early build.

The changing clothes feature was really cool and something asked by the community for a long time. But it is really poorly excecuted. Hope they will have some fancy animation for it when this game is done in a year. Also in normal Arma2 and 1 the AI on your side will kill you if you kill 2 or more friendly's. So i think when you change clothes you simply change side for the moment and their behaviour towards you would will be as if you where a normal friendly. So once you start killing they will drop you. Also its confirmed that if you switch uniforms your own side will try to kill you when they spot you.

Dont expect to much on the AI. They will never be as good as COD/BF3 people think it should be. Most people forget its impossible to get the AI to perform ultra realisticly in such a huge playground. But improving it should be no problem as shown by some community Addons (Zeus). And Bohemia stated that the AI will be improved upon. Lets get our fingers crossed. Otherwise the setup that they plan for the campaign is gonna fail terribly.

More and Impressive news from Bohemia for Arma3.

Those screenshots look amazing. If the gameplay is even a little bit better than it is now i will be in love again. And not to forget all the amazing things the community will be able to do with all the new features like swiming underwater, changing uniform, Physix and animations. Just wow.

Quote from Bohemia:

Following E3, we plan to open up the game to our players. This process starts with the release of a playable build of Arma 3. We call it the 'Community Alpha'. It's intended to enable people who'd like to try the game early on in development help us to shape it up - and make Arma 3 the greatest release of the series. Ours is a large and complex game - being developed by a relatively small team - so we really appreciate your opinions, thoughts and feedback.

The Community Alpha will be quite limited in terms of the assets it includes, with the goal of providing enough content to experiment with the brand new bits of gameplay and technology. It also enables our passionate community to prepare their mods for the very latest version of the Real Virtuality engine. Then, later on in the year, we'd like to open up our game up even further with a more extensive beta program. The exact details, however, we intend to set out closer to their launch.

DirectX 10/11 has been implemented. PhysX is working - particularly, rag-doll animation looks really impressive! The UI is undergoing a redesign, with the focus upon improved usability. Indeed, ease of use, and particularly accessibility, has been an entire goal in itself. We've heard your feedback, and we want to make the game easier to learn for those new to the game, without sacrificing anything that makes our game unique. We have reworked our animations using completely new motion capture recordings. The result is the most realistic animations ever achieved in the series, as well as additional gameplay features.

The visuals and graphics, such as color, lighting, and effects - are quite breathtaking and a massive leap forward for the series. The scale of the map truly cannot be comprehended from the screenshots... it is HUGE, vastly beyond anything seen previously. Last, but certainly not least, we are committed to delivering you a slick and rock-solid multiplayer experience. You can already experience some of the low-level fixes and optimisations brought about by the major release of Patch 1.60 for Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead, and Multiplayer will be something we're keen to talk about as development continues.

This will be awesome. We can even provide more community feedback in a pre-Alpha. No more lots of bugs at initial release, cause we will be able to find them and report them early. :) :)

And the most importend feature for Arma 3.

We have adhered to a strong focus upon backward compatibility throughout the development, meaning we (and of course even you) are in a position to get older assets into A3 very quickly, just with few tweaks here and there. There are, of course, the new features which would require additional settings.

Incidentally, Take on Helicopters can now be scripted in Java:

http://forums.bistudio.com/showthread.php?128800-Take-On-Java

If this works out to be successful Bohemia Interactive may make ArmaIII 'scriptable' in Java as well as the existing script language. This will allow for some great extensions to be made.

Note, the 'scripting' in Java is not actually what a developer would consider 'scripting'. It is fully compiled extensions to the game - which allows more functionality, much faster running, and far less defects (since the compiler can catch them).

This is an excellent move by Bohemia Interactive.

And I bet the soldiers still glued to the ground and can't jump over the obstacle... Small pebble in the front of you and you stuck, and cant jump over it, and while you trying to find the way to go around, you getting killed... Or, you prone for half an hour to the snipping position in "stealth mode" so to speak, and suddenly your soldier stands up... and gets killed. There are some nice things in Arma as well as some really annoying...

Yet if DCS T-50 PAK FA was released, I bet you'd be all over it even though it's an experimental aircraft in which only four have been built and only 2 or 3 of those have actually flown :D

Ever heard of the community? ACE2 and probably Project reality are going to port their Addons to Arma 3 at release. So weapons, vehicels and units that are present now will be useable for you from the start. And that are more weapons and explosives that you can ever try in any game.

The future thing is just to avoid alot of licenses... If you cant even understand that decision and you cant understand that weapons that are used present will be available for you anyway for FREE your realy short sighted.

These developers like DCS do actually listen to their player base and we simmers should support that to the fullest. Even if its not your piece of cake. Unless you want the generic hollywood rails shooters and jet games to keep overshadowing these games. Yes the Arma series was not eprfect.. but atleast it gave you full freedom. And now you can even help in the Pre Alpha and Beta to iron out most bugs and maybe force some needed features. It seems alot of guy's here on the forums only see negatives.... Must be some grumpy virtual pilots to fly with.
