We should be okay as long as ED is full of sinners, tomorrow is only supposed to be the rapture so we have 155 days left for them to patch it and to enjoy some cockpit shadows. I suggest everyone here go out and sin tonight and we'll have a blast these final months

Hope UPS has enough sinners as well then...they have my Pro Clip!:noexpression:

Thank you, as always, Speed. The Producers are to be thanked for making the good calls, the devs for working without sleep, and the community for it's understanding. We're all (ED and Community alike) lucky to be part of such a great project. I'm excited about the future!

Me too! Two words: jet packs.

removed by me. light hearted jokes don't play out well I guess.

Wow AND Matt called me a drama queen, are you serious!? Christ, there goes my stand-up comic career.

edit: that last sentence was a joke. I'm not intending on being a stand-up comic.

Now you do not need me to confirm that that's an erroneous assumption, right?

You don't need me to confirm I was joking, right? Obviously I'm not assuming software developers and testers are disciplining, nor would they ever be able to discipline paying customers. I thought that went without saying.

Yes, yes, and yes!

And just because you're too modest, I'll echo Speed's comment of: A big thank you to the testing team, too! :D

And I also want to add another one: thank you to the families of the devs, for putting up with their tough work schedule and not locking them in the basement to keep them at home instead of working on DCS! :smilewink:

You're not the only one. It's pretty obvious that there's a bright future for ED and us hardcore simmers as well.

Yeah, seriously. I am SO thankful that ED took on the hardcore arena. I love A-10C and am so thankful for all the detail put into it. I admit, I love doing the startup procedure! There is something entirely satisfying about learning to master a complex aircraft and all of its various facets.

I also really like the model of continual updates. You will succeed by staying a part of the community and keeping up the regular updates and interacting with all of us. There are too many games that got created, a few patches later... poof... the end.

I LOVE MIL AVIATION!!! I LOVE REALISM!!! THANK YOU! :megalol:

I think it's not a shame at all they delayed the patch. Otherwise we'd all be tripping over some annoying bugs.

This way we will get a clean patch a little later. I say "Thank you ED for your high quality standards! "

This is how great video game (sim) companies are born. Support it post release and make sure it's right before you release patches. Kudos DCS! :D

Not to be Debbie Downer but isn't it kind of pathetic that we're praising a company for, you know... having QA?

Are things really that bad that *not* breaking your game makes you an awesome developer? :)

Allow me to say what we all really felt when we first read the thread title:

I want meh shadows :D

Didn't take long for someone to blow that out of proportion and totally misinterpret it... but really, just step back and read the posts, people act as if this means that they're squashing bugs that the patch will introduce, or they pulled it to pack it full of free cake or something. It got pulled because the installer itself didn't work, plain and simple. I personally really don't care if it's delayed or not (argh, shadows!) - I can be patient, because software gets delayed all the time, both professional and amateur. It happens and nobody should harbor any ill will towards ED for holding off a week to make the patch actually able to, you know, run.

But jeez people, the patch didn't work. It's not like they had a lot of choice in the matter and I'm sure they wanted it released as much as we did. But heaping praise and acting like the patch is going to be any different next week just sounds a bit... daft. In the end, the installer will function as it was intended, and the patch as it is today (sans installer) will be released next week. Not a big deal.

In the meantime it gives me more time to learn what is very new Sim to me, get my HOTAS Warthog control useage 'instinctive' and have FUN at the same time..... :pilotfly:

Meh it's a load of old ... anyways. How many times have we lived through what was meant to be the end of the world?

I'm glad they're holding off on the patch, not many dev's do that these days. They substitute payed testers with the customer and I'm glad ED isn't like that.
