Unfortunately IMHO physical tree modelling is a must... It makes crash landing more fun, increases the stakes on ground attack missions stops swines from using forrests as a means to escape... Etc

If there ise tree collision, I hope it won't be like Il-2, where an ever so slight contact with a tree (even at 1 km) would rip your wing off instantly.

I mean, choppers can actually go down halfway into forests (they might even chop a few branches with their rotor blades).

When is the release of the Nevada map

Funny you should ask that, I have been asking the same question and getting the same silly one liners like above

Take a look at all the posts in this thread and you will get an idea how long it's taken so far.

Silly one liners? It's actually the best answer you will get considering nobody knows and nobody can seem to understand that concept, so "when its done" is actually the best concrete answer available.

Its like constantly asking 343 industries when will Halo 6 be released. Everyone knows it will be made, nobody knows a solid release date, so "when its done" is the best 'absolute' answer since nobody likes 'we have no information on a current release date'

If you want to put a date on it, you can look at it this way. DCS WWII is due out in September. Until EDGE works in DCS World, there is no environment for DCS WWII. So Nevada will be out before September, if you want to assume WWII will be out on schedule. :)

It might be an honest answer, but I think it could be said in a different way. Especially when it's the guys 3rd post and he probably has no idea about the game. Seriously, if I asked someone at work when some thing would be ready and got that response, then I would be pretty miffed. I just think it comes over as been umpolite if you ask me. I say this because I think the guy will already have sense to know it will be ready when it's ready.

Post count dont mean didly, i know people with 10 posts that have been on here since 2007, they read, they just dont post, and i know people that read the forums that dont even have an account,

the silly one liner is the most accurate answer.

you dont have to sift through all 364 pages of this thread, the answer is in the first post.

@Geiter - Here it is since you missed it. Hope that helps.

Since the last update, the NTTR map undergoes refinement, but the big gating item is currently setting up the DCS code structure to handle EDGE-based terrain data (textures, objects, DTED, etc.).

he wouldn't have asked if he didn't want clarification, he got it quick and clean, and I don't think he needs you to argue over it for him.

I completely agree that he probably does have that sense.

However, when people post the same thing over and over "when will it be done", and the community tries to answer with "nobody knows, wait for an official update about it, etc", and that does not satisfy people because they are looking for an absolute answer, what more can we say except "It will be ready when it is done".

Don't get me wrong, I also see where you are coming from. However, this is a different guy asking that very same question. Have you yourself not asked a question that has been answered hundreds of times before? The guy who answered him could have directed him to the last update like I did.

For me the key factor remains the performance. I'll be impressed when i'll see a benchmark showing important FPS increase and more important much more stable. It is very easy to add wonderful effects and improve the graphic, the trick part is improve and keep stable the FPS.

I agree with youabout the performance and stability, of course!

...BUT, men, I continue to read "edge" as something beauty and special... or I am blind or I think that somebody here never saw or never tried what means to fly with REX or ORBX in other simulators... it is something unbelievable, and they run on a very old simulator as graphic engine (fsx)..

Now, i continue to read here compliments every time that one screenshot arrives: again, are you blind or what?!

I fly with lockon/dcs since years, and ok, I like it BUT we cann't continue to excuse and close our eyes in front of so strong evidences:

- the graphic is simply old, like to see some game from the 1999.. structures, lighits, particulars, models, trees, lands, grass and so on, are simply terrible, totally not realistic.. it is sad, but it is just true.

- the sounds are simply robotic, like to play with f/a 18 interceptor twenty years ago.. i would expect much much much more quality as realistic sounds in the 2014. there is the technology, there are many examples of games and simulators with thousands of times better as realistic sounds.. how long we have to wait for this essential implementation?!

a good example is when i listen jet sounds from external camera..is should be realistic sound ?! come on..

- the sky, clouds, and weather system.. again, I must repeat myself but It is not my fault if develepers don't understand this central aspect.

Other simulator have spectacular systems for to simulate weather, clouds and so on.. why it is so complicated to implement this ?

So, I arrive to the end of my unconfortable opinion here about edge asking myself first, but especially to developpers, when and why still not they didn't permit to products like rex, orbx, gex and so on to be on DCS worlds... they could give surely and immediately a strong spin to up! :)

As customer of DCS products (I have most of modules), there are years and years that I am hoping for this implementation.. but still nothing..

So, how will be sounds and graphic on EDGE engine? I am very afraid to see again the same totally old ridicolous low poor quality.

I am sorry if i have been so direct and critic, but I wish a good dcs product for the future instead to have paid so much money for to use a very old simulator..

Nevada screenshots, show only poor graphic.. nothing revolutionary or special as in the 2014 i would expect as customer.. imho..

cheers..
