Harrah's logo looks just like the real one:

Question to Wags - Will EDGE use more than 2 CPU cores?

I would also like to know - as I currently have 6 spare cpu cores having a snooze :)

It's a Image Rendering Engine, It's been confirmed to support SLI/XFire, and DirectX 11.2.

There was no mention of Multiple CPU Threads, The Project of Parallelisation of the base code was never mentioned, and Not part of Replacing the Graphics Engine I'd Assume.

Splitting the Base DCS Engine into multiple threads would require an Extensive Re-Write of the source/base code, and development of code to sync multiple threads.

The Closest thing to More Threads that Moving to DX11.2 Will give you is that the DirectX11.2 CPU Workload for the DrawCalls of Objects can be divided amongst multiple threads to reduce overloading a single core/thread.

Whether or not that this feature of DX11 is a base feature or integrated when building the image render I dont know, and no one has confirmed whether or not DX11's workload will be dynamic across multiple threads/cores.

360x360 km ok thanks.

What is the current ones size please?

Also, as a backer of DCS: WWII, I believe we get access to the Alpha early and the final product release in September this year. Does it not mean that we will see EDGE in that prior to it being released with NTTR?

I would imagine Nevada would be out before we see the DCS WWII Alpha. I would bet that the first instance of EDGE you will see will be in DCS World. RRG's work would be dependent on ED's integration of the new engine. RRG did say we could see the map tools early, and that could be before EDGE release, but that isnt looking to be the case right now, but who knows.

anyone have an estimation of cost for Nevada on release?

I'd say, 100 000 $ !

(a totally different question would be what we will be charged for it! :P )

Thank you for clarification Mr. Wags. In any case you know I can't stay around in Georgia while others are flying over Nevada and enjoying casinos. (Y)

Well, it (Nevada/ E.D.G.E.) won't be ready until its ready, so might as well make the best of it until then :music_whistling: :)

Could the server 'scheduled' maintenance have anything to do with edge integration?

No. It is safe to say that EDGE will not be part of a hotfix but will only be rolled out with a full blown patch. Since it is not in 1.2.7 and 1.2.7 is feature frozen (which happens usually before it goes into open beta), the absolutely earliest would be 1.2.8 open beta, but mind that this is hypothetical, it might be a later version as well.

1.3 would be nice round number and opportunity to introduce new graphic engine and Nevada (which probably will coincide with MiG21bis spring release)

EDGE will be out about 1Q 2015 if things go like in past :P

And no rig will run it max detail when its relased beta or not :P

EDGE is being worked into the sim right now, and it will take advantage of our systems much better than what the current engine does, there is no reason to believe any of your opinion is remotely correct.

It was my understanding that EDGE was written from the ground up and doesn't use any of the original code.

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Which by no means implies that it runs in a separate thread.

Yup, really all they have revealed right now is that EDGE will lean on our GPUs more than how the current engine leans on our CPUs, so hopefully that means it will free up some of that CPU power and utilize the GPUs more, giving us, or most of us better performance. Least that is my understanding...

Wow ... 3 moderators in a row. I'm truly impressed (^.^)

But since when did sobek turn into a Moderator/Fangirl Goddess?!

I hope ED has something in the works other than this (payware, see post 1?) Nevada map.

Contrary to what happens in this

, I can't see any airwar happening there. Edited by Hans-Joachim Marseille

It is impressive. ;) and that Fangirl Goddess badge has me on EDGE.

For the 3 mods in sequence, I would love to hear your opinions on running 2 GFX cards in SLI. I am really considering purchasing a couple of GTX 660's to make the most of EDGE and future DCS content.

Intel i5-9600K @ 3.7GHz; Gigabyte Z370XP SLI Mobo; G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 64GB (4 x 16GB) 288-Pin DDR4

I dont think anyone can comment on performance yet, if your purchase is solely for DCS I would wait, I am sure it will be more better... but I dont know...
