Looks like Area 51, is it?

attachment.php?attachmentid=66248&d=1337543553

they cannot do area 51, or they will be killed. but it looks like groom lake in the background, so i assume they work out a deal with us government on that.

the only reason I thought it was area 51 is because of the curved reflective barrier things and the shape of the mountains in the background.

looks similar looking to this pic taken in Google Earth, no?:

they would not be killed for doing area51 lol, they would just vanish never to be seen again and there would be no more development of the DCS series :smartass:

How is this at all a logical statement? Tons of games have done area 51 before. Heck, even the movie Independence Day showed it. As Wags has said, this was shown a few times earlier.

Haha EB, I see what you did there.

I was think same thing, the roads in USA are white shoulder solid lines, and yellow center divider dotted with solid yellow line in city, ( depending if left turning is allowed in the that zone) if no left turn then double solid, on rural routs its just yellow dotted no white line on shoulder.

 What I see is beautiful and it seems to run fast. See the screenshots, upper left corner: between 76 and 114 FPS. Ok, let's see the figures with an higher altitude (greater distance of view), AI (CPU charge),... But I increasingly feel the need. Hope this is for 2012.

Oh, and thanks, Wags for the update.

The super high frames per second may be due to the fact the world is empty and it's just running the camera. No AI, physics, etc going on at the same time.

I could be wrong, and so what if I am...I'm also feeling the need :) Shots look great!

Im not impressed with distant terrain relief and texture LODs, too blurry and simplified.

Close objects and scenery looks very nice.

You should be able to adjust that later in the relevant lua files if you want to keep the high detail terrain mesh far out in the distance.

Nevada terrain...what can we expect??

I am curious and have become lazy and short of time to look around, but I am wondering what can we expect with the Nevada terrain? How many airfields?? What is the approximate square mileage, if possible to answer?? Are there other cities possibly included in this terrain like Pheonix, AZ and/or Los Angeles, CA?? Maybe I am asking too much and if I am please forgive me and my eagerness to know.:detective_2: I am looking forward to this addition of the DCS World and many more to come.

Always best to search because some people will no doubt say "use the search function"

BUT. Expect a few airfields. Nellis and area 51 have been in screenshots. Square mileage, ummmm, big? But not crazy big. I was going to compare it to the Black Sea map, but its not exactly the same because the Black Sea map is more rectangular since you have the ocean as a limiting area, where as Nevada can be thought of more of a square. As far as cities, its Nevada, not California or Arizona :) the biggest one to expect would be Las Vegas.

You mean the ground texture in the last screenshot? It appears to be normal mapped.

Correct.

that fps is achievable in open space without fps cap. i can get it in a-10 and bs2. i don't think that is indicator of multi-core or optimization, so don't assume anything yet.

Well thats all well and good, but these screens look like they were taken from a camera point and not inside an aircraft computing all those important aircraft things. Obviously FPS are better when you take the aircraft out of the picture...

And I am not sure what you thought I was assuming? All I was asking was for some rough idea of specs to run the new engine so I could plane future upgrade investments :)
