So I am at a crossroads right now, I have been working on a Bf-109e, but it seems there are a couple floating around, as I really dont know what is being worked on I am not sure if I should just stick it out with the 109 or move to another variant, a 190, a Spit Mk V (or other variant) or something completely different and step out with a A6M. I have good drawings of all of the above.

I am leaning towards the Fw-190D, it has a couple different varieties of ordnance you could drop off its wings, really I wanna do them all, but I have to quit my job first lol.

Anyways, thoughts? Anyone have any insight into other creations in the works, maybe stuff I should avoid?

I vote for a FW-190A8.

Judging from my experience with the T-34 tank, I'd say if you have no help, it will take a year for an AI only, simple flight/damage model plane to complete. (if you quit your job that is, oh and forget about family for a while :D)

There's some very interesting stuff in this thread!

I think the problem we have though is that the model of the P-51D that ED made was not seen in Europe and so, consequently, it makes it difficult to get a suitable opponent to this version of the aircraft... the Ki-84, J2M3 Raiden, Ki-61 Tony or Ki-100 would be the most even counter part, but the trouble with these aircraft is that they lack the popularity factor that the ETO aircraft have...

I think, in years to come, we will see all kinds of WWII aircraft but I think it will be a while before we start seeing some of the rarer, lesser known aircraft types in this sim. It appears, to me at least, we will be limited to the normal "Top 10" of WWII fighter aircraft... Mustang, Spitfire, 109, 190, P-47 etc... for a while atleast, as these aircraft will certainly sell.

Either way, if it was built between 1914 and 1955, I'll be buying it ;)

Goodbye social life.

You realize all this means is that someone is working on it.

The Zero would be nice, actually it would be very nice if it was DCS: Zero... whilst the known dodgy landing gear of the Ki-84 might be difficult to factor in.

Yes, point is that someone is working on it. First time that has been offically confirmed now.

Don't mean to broke your (my) dreams for a DCS Fw190, but now I remember an "IA counterpart" also was said to be in develope, may 190 be the IA counterpart? :(

The list of aircraft being essentially announced, as 'in development' seem to be widely accepted as flyables by the community as a whole; with no corrections / lowering of the communities expectations from ED.

It seems unlikely an AI would be announced this way, alongside other flyables.

But as they say round here - everything is subject to change!

Although I can't see what show stopping problem might occur developing a comparatively 'simple' WWII module, especially with their recent experience developing the Stang.

You're right about development list, hope it to be flyable. But simple? I understand the USA proud about Ponny, but I'm not from USA so I'm realistic and afaik a Butcherbird systems are way complex than 51. Added the lack of info, it's far from simple I guess. I don't think any other WWII aircraft would be "simple" to develop compared to P-51, even more, if a "simple" aircaft is developed I don't want it, whatever the WWII era aircraft developed I wanna P-51 comparable thing and no less.

By saying 'comparatively simple', I mean of course, when compared to ALL modules.

A10C & KA50, plus the others they've announced like the F/A18 - i.e. with highly complex Avionics; Shval, TGP, moving map, radar, laser designators, CCRP, CCIP, etc. etc.

In my mind that makes all WWII birds (single engine fighters anyway) comparatively simple?!? It's probably a misunderstanding?

I'm sure it will be a full study sim and we'll all be amazed by it.

Yes, yes, I see .

Anyway a WWII era aircraft has more simple systems but probably a harder FM than modern aircraft, but that's a guess after what I see in P-51. I also hope a full study Fw190 (whatever version, but FHC A5 may be?) simulator.
