Dumbest system message in flight simming

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I really don't care one bit or need to know if a person is taking a screen shot.

Can we get rid of that message?

Can we have text we can actually read?

if not, let me disable the whole chat deal as it is nothing but a distraction as it is now.

Helps to clarify who is employing the 'Prt Scr' electronic countermeasure technique when engaged defensive.

I personally dislike messages also and sometimes wich to be able to turn them off so, I have an idea... how about ED make an option to turn in game missage/chat off on client end, and when in MP have some sort of character like * next to their nick/name to show if client has chat messages off (so that if someone chats to them in MP they can see if he's not responding its because chat on clients end are off?

Good or Bad and is it doable?

Only on competitive servers, at least in my experience. I personally think it should be an option in the mission editor (as in a mission specific option)

How about hard coding into the game that if you bash the print screen to many times when a missile is inbound you eject from your aircraft? LOL!

*dont say that would hurt people that take ss for fun because that's what track views are for =P*

It identifies the cheaters - that is why it was added - if its removed you'll see a corresponding increase in missile evasion using the print screen button.

Nate

Strange it is to hear that it was added to identify the cheater rather then taking measure that prevents it from happening.

How can you prevent something that is caused client-side? Disable button for duration of MP flight on client computer? Can this be done? If so, one for the wish-list thread for sure.

And you know what's even stranger? ED put that in there because the community asked for it. Gasp!

Yeah, I agree with Snoopy here. If you are going to mess with it at all, it is best that the system be left as is, but give people an option to turn it on/off at will.

I've never heard of this, if you take a screenshot it freezes your AC and causes the missile to lose track?

No, what it does is cause your client to lag while it takes the screenshot. Doing this in rapid succession can confuse the missile (and other players as well due to the warping).

If you aim for the sky, you will never hit the ground.

Personally I just use FARPS to take my screen shots, no problems then, although it is a workaround that shouldn't be needed.

It's is without doubt one if the most annoying "features" in DCS for me, hopefully one day it can be sorted.

You mean FRAPS probably? I use it too and I think it is much better solution. No missile evasion using PrintScr, no messages in chat. Yet I still could make so many screenshot as I wish. Replaying track offline is another solution...

The community isn't homogeneous.

I did not know about this.

I never use that button, well not intentionally.

I am getting a little bit better at dogfighting, but not by much. One particular server I was using the other day, I noticed this message occurring quite frequently in FC2, on that server. It was setup in-cockpit only, no F-key look-arounds. I am not very good at avoiding the good players and I assumed that was it, just me, not being very good. But I never saw the attacking aircraft. I think he was being led to me by others' radar signatures and his was off. But, it could be the "c" word I suppose. I thought you guys were above this sort of thing. Well, if they can do it Soap Box Car Derby and they did, and they quit it for awhile because of the caught cheaters, though rather ingenious means to an end, in that case, some of the ideas employed.

I am still trying to figure out how to do evasive maneuvers to avoid the missiles. Youtube sure has some ingenious guys doing very well, what looked to be a rolling scissors maneuver of a really big SAM and then he just got behind it.

Wait, one can evade a missile by using Print_Scr?

W00t?

How?!?!?

Is it random or a rule, like the missile always misses?

How?!?!?

If you spam making screenshots, it will cause desync between the clients and the host, which results in warping, ergo the missile is much more likely to miss you. Expect to be banned if an Admin is watching, though.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Rule.

You have to see it to appreciate it. The plane targeted jumps/warps up and down in a zigzag pattern at tremendous speed, sort of like a Fly on Speed :megalol:
