The Ka-50 does not have a MWS so no, you will get no warning from SAM launches. It does however have a LWR.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I don't care much for the realism. I would like like to know if there is a way to get any sort of warning when a missile is lauched.

Even if its just a bleep or a message in the console.

I have A-10 as well. is there any way i could use the folder from the A-10C and somehow incorporate it into the ka50?

Cheers,

M

IIRC the 'Radio Assists' option will warn you of launches and subsequent impending doom.

There is actually an MWS.lua file for the KA-50. I think it is activated when using game avionics. You can find this condition in the lua file. You will have to change the game avionics condition to non-game avionics and it will probably work. Then you will have the arcade style voice saying "Missile! 9 o'clock low!"

This should work for the sim

--if LockOn_Options.flight.radio_assist then

creators[devices.MLWS] = {"avMLWS",

LockOn_Options.script_path.."Devices_specs/MLWS.lua",

{{"betty", devices.VMS}}}

--end

(comment out the "if" and "end" lines) but I haven't been able to get it to work :(

Thanks again for the replies.

I commented out the if statement but it still doesn't work.

To double check I got the syntax correct, I done the same with the easy radar which worked fine.

I'm using the dragon mission: operation Bigfoot as a test sandbox.

Is there a range limit on the radio assist stuff?

The buk's a fair bit away from my flying area (15-20km)

Any ideas?

I know that MWS can be used in sim multiplayer. I have seen it before on a server while flying a KA50.

Can't get it to work.

Commented it out

Removed if - then statement

Used an alternative condition that was true

Used an else statement with the same action

Tried If not

Nothing. WTF? :(

It's definitely something internal. if you 'enable' it correctly, dcs.log shows "unable to link target "betty" with source device"...I tried tons of stuff to get this to work. even searched through the cockpitbase dll to try and find the right link target...no go! I contacted a dev about it and he's forwarded on to someone else. if I get a reply I'll let you guys know.

I should specify that I did not get it to work by flipping the MWS switch in the Black Shark. What I got was a verbal warning almost like a scripted trigger. It was in a multiplayer mission. The warning seemed to last forever with no ill effects however, if you stayed for a while the missile would indeed hit you.

So here I am, bumping this thread, and asking if we will eventually have back MWS available in KA-50?

I remember times, when it was available, and that was lot of fun flying Ka-50 and avoiding missiles in panic whenever warning about missile in the air was sounded, but then someone - by purpose or not - caused that now it's unavailable, and since I have learned to fly without MWS, it's hard to instill in future generations of passion for KA-50, when it causes more frustration than joy.

Just to avoid any potential shitstorm about this functionality, that already can be found on SimHQ (as example of few of them), i'd suggest that it would be more than welcome to have it parametrizable and possible to force enabled or disabled as one of mission parameters.

Pipok, we don't want it. Perhaps an option that will allow you to use it single player as an unrealistic option would be nice, but a it stands, this is a limitation of the Ka-50.

Speak for yourself. I want it, along with an RWR and chaff. Wouldn't mind getting R-73 support either.

And lets also have it fire nuclear cruise missiles.

I mean, I get that some people don't care for that much realism and you are free to play it any way you like, but I rather have the developers working on actual bugs and new aircraft then adding stuff which has no place with the real aircraft. There are loads of arcade flying games out there which are better suited for that.

Are we talking about a MAWS like in the A-10C (detects missile launches by their heat signature) or about the laser warner?
