atsmith6 Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I am gagging for them to release the study sims mentioned in that interview. The quality of their KA-50 and A-10C is astounding. These guys will definitely get my money at every release :) They are, simply put, making my dreams come true!
squinkys Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 I'll be picking up the F/A-18C, F-15C, and SU-27SM...and am really looking forward to having a new sparring partner in my P-51!!!! ...I hate waiting man. Can the future just get here already?!?!?!
BRooDJeRo Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Perhaps the F/A-18 will be a part of the FC3 final release. It would make sense to have a NATO fighter with carrierlaunch capabilitys too like the Russian Su-33. Theres maybe a smell around the F15-C tailhook and have that one as the NATO carrier fighter counterpart and The F/A-18 as a A10C-like module? It must be some combination...
sobek Posted February 15, 2013 Posted February 15, 2013 Perhaps the F/A-18 will be a part of the FC3 final release. That is unlikely. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
sobek Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Then it must be the F15-C tailhook... Even if the Eagle tailhook was operational, you still couldn't land it on a carrier. You'd wreck it. Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two. Come let's eat grandpa! Use punctuation, save lives!
*Rage* Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Seems to confirm Su27sm, F18, FW190 are gonna be ED products. My 3 favourite planes. I simply can't describe how much ill be buying those modules. Shut up (and hurry up) and take my money:) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 64th "Scorpions" Aggressor Squadron Discord: 64th Aggressor Squadron TS: 195.201.110.22
Feuerfalke Posted February 16, 2013 Posted February 16, 2013 Maybe it's just me, but everytime I see an interview like this, I'm awefully glad that we have such a talented, charismatic and enthousiastic team working on my favorite game. BRooDJeRo Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 (edited) Even if the Eagle tailhook was operational, you still couldn't land it on a carrier. You'd wreck it. Wreck because of the game mechanics or does the the F15 needs a beafy carrierupgrade like better landinggear? Why make me go kinky on a tailhook that doesn't belong there? It just doesn't make sense to me if it's obsolete. Perhaps it's a model for a chinese fabricated toothpick dispenser. Edited February 17, 2013 by BRooDJeRo
Inseckt Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 IIRC most f-15's have a tailhook, and the f-16 as well [citation needed], they are there incase of emergencies, and to be used on normal runways. (many military bases can deploy traps in case of emergency, and this was actually used in the incident where the f-15 landed with one wing, but the pilot didn't deploy his tailhook [further citation needed] IIRC). So I assume it was never intended for carrier ops... I'm saying all this based on vague memories that might have been dreams, but if you look into it, I think you'll find the reason for the tailhook... BRooDJeRo Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Interesting, i never found it to be a perfect location too. With force it should pull the tail down violently.
Geskes Posted February 17, 2013 Posted February 17, 2013 Matt says that developers can pick any plane they like besides some that are reserved to be developed by ED or close partners. That means someone (either ed or partner) is going to do Mig-29 because 3rd party ( razbam i thought? ) couldn't do it. Nice! Shadylurker Posted February 18, 2013 Posted February 18, 2013 Great interview, really looking forward for the Nevada theme. Really looking forward to EDGE. The only thing that drives me nuts is that my crappy PC gets 5-10 less FPS then the top of the line.

Fighter aircraft for traditional naval ops must have airframes designed to withstand the forces imposed by repeated cat launches and gear arrests. USAF fighters could not long withstand such stresses.
XtraChrisP Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Well with Wags stating that certain aircraft are being withheld for ED and its close partners, it's hard not to notice the conspicuous absence of any F-16 announcements.
mjeh Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Well with Wags stating that certain aircraft are being withheld for ED and its close partners, it's hard not to notice the conspicuous absence of any F-16 announcements. I noticed that too! Here's to hoping
Witchking Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 (edited) I noticed that too! Here's to hoping  But why would he bother hiding that one aircraft when he gave away that so many other aircraft in the pipeline. IMO... F-16 is probably not in the pipeline. I would think F-18 is the next in line (Based on Wags background in the Janes series) or F-15C (based on the cockpit model n FC3). I would think Su27SM is further distant as ED already announced way back that the next aircraft is a US fixed wing. But hey...it would be awesome if ED came out with a DCS: Fighter operations with the crane and eagle at the same time. :p But logically it makes sense for someone to make F-16. The falcon 4 crowd is a nice market to entice (I wouldn't imagine its big, but it will definitely grab attention of all the diehard ones). ED can do themselves a favor by bringing in those enthusiasts as well. mjeh Posted February 19, 2013 Posted February 19, 2013 Hard to say, I would assume it has to do with how progressed development is and (maybe more importantly) status of licenses and available information. F-16 was at some point announced as under development (there were even pictures of cockpit and 3d model iirc) by ED. As for what comes first from the ED study sims that have been announced, I got the impression from Wags' interview (the 1 hr long one on that radio channel thingy) that F-15C is first. I can't remember his wording any more, but that's definitely the impression I got.
