Question's in the title. Which of the (long term) DCS features are you most excited about?

i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S

Posted (edited)

I would not use the word 'excited' but Nevada/Edge.

You do realize you included only a few announced 3rd party modules intermixed with actual ED items?

Yep. The poll only allows for 10 options, so I tried to pick the highest profile options.

Should probably have picked Beczl's Mig-21 ahead of the Coretex Superbug, though. My bad. :(

Because I didn't think to add it. ;)

Also, it's not very interesting.

EDGE and Maps as a second but i'm a bit wary about the performance hit it will bring (F/A18C only if it includes full carrier ops).

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

Lmbo  you guys are funny, anything added to DCS is a bonus. I for one am not going to buy the Mig-21, but I hope that it does good in sales, then hopefully he'll make something I might buy.

I voted for the DC, hopefully it will be something like BMS.

If it's made by the folks who gave us BS and A10, it'll be better then BMS. :)

I love BMS, it's a great sim but IMO, DCS is the future.

I agree with DCS being the future, I just hope it has the features that BMS has.

F-15 hands down. I've been waiting for it for I don't even know how long. A fighter at DCS level is the most critical thing for me.

Awaiting: DCS F-15C

Definitely DC, it will add more longterm motivation than any other single new module. It's so important to me, if DCS had a robust dynamic campaign, I might get out of BMS completely, even though I like the F-16 much more than the A-10 as far as planes go. Combine it with an ED level F-15C or F/A-18C? I'd never ask for anything from Santa ever again...

I'm sure DCS F-16 is on it's way.

We can all hope, I'd love to have the F-16(insert any variant here). As long as the next aircraft isn't modelled like the penny arcade FC3 I'll be happy.

Where has ED announced a 'dynamic campaign' system? or is this just wishful thinking?

Synopsis of Matt Wagner's interview on FS Break posted by Paulrkiii

Highlights, mostly nothing new

  • Mid range DCS ACFT closer to FC level detail (around 0.26.00)
  • F-86(thumbup.gif) & Mig-15 in development (don't remember these two being mentioned before) (around 0.34.00)
  • New Maps, ED & 3rd party (0.34.50)
  • Maps (EDGE), Nevada (delayed a "bit"). When done should allow new maps being developed "quicker" (0.41.08 )
  • After release of 1.2.3, finalize FC3, UH-1 will be released, work "diligently" on new modules (1.02.00)
  • Dedicated Server in works, hand-in-hand development with EDGE....on hold currently (1.05.25)
  • Eventually see a dynamic campaign. Not a question of "if" but "when" (1.10.00)
  • F/A-18C & F-15C internal ED developed (not 3rd party) thumbup.gif (1.11.40)
  • "Probably" APG-73 radar (F/A-18C)
  • "Probably" APG-63 Version 1 (F-15C)

I believe the idea has been for a while that one does not simply create a dynamic campaign by itself. Rather with each major release add something in there to make a dynamic campaign more of a possibility. Where-as the other projects listed on the poll are the type of projects that won't likely go through numerous iterations. What I mean is...

BS1: Completely re-wrote mission editor from LO

FC2: Removed flag limits

A-10C: Re-wrote task system for AI, dozens of new triggers, etc.

DCS World: Added Simulator Scripting Engine, resource management, new triggers, etc

DCS World+: Time will tell :)

The right man in the wrong place makes all the difference in the world.
