If you want to see what the effect looks like, just set a ship on fire in the current version - all those effects are in the sim already - they're just not being used to their full potential.

I believe it was somewhere between 40 and 60 (GTX 570 1.25gb). Try it on your system - I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. In my experience the new smoke effects have never caused a significant impact on framerates, and nor should we expect this, assuming they've been competently coded.

It's a real shame that Combat Flight Simulator 3, a game released 11 years ago, still has better looking aerial particle effects than DCS. I'll be happy to see that cease to be true.

Where does it say in that Youtube video that we will have this in the next patch? Or is there a link to the new patch notes?

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

New particle effetcs? [squeal]

It's true, I copied the ship fire .lua over (almost) all the other fire effects, and with some tweaks everything looks so much better. I can actually set a city on fire now.

Can't seem to find any files that affect the aircraft fires, though, either in the air or once they crash. I want some huge fireballs like you see on The YouTube.

For when it goes wrong: Win10x64, GTX1080, Intel i7 @3.5 GHz, 32GB DDR3, Warthog HOTAS, Saitek combat rudder pedals, TrackIR 5 / Vive Pro, a case of Pabst, The Funk

If you guys notice...the fire when the aircraft explodes/goes down is more similar to these ship and land vehicle fires. No more cylindrical/bitmap fires. :D yay! Looking promising.

How much lagg do you get for creating these massive fires? FPS drop?

Beautiful cockpit. wow!! But that landing model at the end...sooo terrible. Jerk and stick to the ground. Man! The next big thing would be to give all aircraft atleast a semi-AFM. Improve the ground handling.
