VincentLaw Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 (edited) This was inspired by a post by leafer in the discussion thread, and because I want to prove Groove wrong. Not everything is wrong/disappointing. This thread is a place to give positive feedback and/or thanks to the ED team for our wonderful new weekly updates. It is intended to showcase the positive spirit of the community, which often resides in the shadow of louder voices, and demonstrate our appreciation for their hard work and commitment. Please keep all flaming, ranting, etc. out of this thread, and keep your criticism in the discussion thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=106568 Remember that our new updates are a privilege, not a right. Now let's show that we earned it, or they can be taken away just as quickly. Mods, feel free to merge this with the discussion thread if it proves redundant. Pizzicato Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Sign me up. I'm definitely very appreciative of the Friday updates and would love to see them continue. I'd also argue that the impassioned discussions in the other thread are very valuable. They're generally being conducted in a mature fashion and there's value in ED hearing the feedback early in the process as opposed to a year or two into development. Regardless, the updates are hugely appreciated (at least by me). Long may they continue. i7-7700K @ 4.9Ghz | 16Gb DDR4 @ 3200Mhz | MSI Z270 Gaming M7 | MSI GeForce GTX 1080ti Gaming X | Win 10 Home | Thrustmaster Warthog | MFG Crosswind pedals | Oculus Rift S

ishtmail Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I love the prospect of flying new DCS aircraft, and I fully understand that development of the top-of-the-line simulated airplanes will take considerable amount of time. I also love that we'll be getting an upgraded version of existing lo-fi aircraft from FC3 during the development process of the hi-fi stuff. ED has showered us with yummy goodness for the past years, and with several 3rd party projects happening (and coming to a close), I doubt we'll run out of lots and lots of fun to have, flying the highly detailed beasts. Belsimtek proved that a 3rd party dev can deliver a DCS quality aircraft on par with ED's own creations, so future looks brighter than ever. I've got 4 DCS quality aircraft in my stable, and those alone will keep me busy and well entertained for years. Witchking Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I agree too. Thanks for all the updates ED team. We can't wait to see more. Thanks for hearing our feedback and finally granting us better than what we wanted...instead of a dynamic landing model, you are giving is a complete AFM. Now get to work and pls post some time soon that you are also updating the mig and the sea flanker. Wichid Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Being kept up to date, even if the ideas expressed are not finalised is fantastic. cichlidfan Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Yes. Thanks Matt, and the other ED elves, for your time and the information you provide. ptako Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Totally agree! Thx ED for all you've done in DCS. About weekly updates - even bad information is better than lack of information. A night carrier landing is one of the few opportunities to experience all three at the same time."
zaelu Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I agree with this. EDs plans can't fit all our hopes and dreams especially time frame wise and they have to adjust them on the fly to meet reality's demands. This dynamic is seen even more if updates are to be provided weekly. Nothing to be scared of. Karon Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Being more communicative allow us to better understand how much time every update takes and what features/bugfixes it will address. Moreover, this makes you more "human" because we feel your passion and hard work on this awesome sim. So, thanks ED for this new change of course, I really appreciate it! statrekmike Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I also appreciate the more frequent updates, more news on upcoming projects is never unwelcome and it is always good to know where one stands.
Paganus Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 These Friday updates are a great thing in my opinion. I don't care if it's good news or bad, just keep me informed.
MACADEMIC Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Absolutely appreciate the updates and open information approach. While I wish more DCS quality models would and could appear faster than announced, it's easy to realize good things are taking their time. EDs strategy makes perfect sense to me, releasing products of reduced depth first, having earnings from them while continuing with development towards DCS fidelity. Win Win for ED and the community. NoJoe Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 I'll add a +1 to this! I'm always excited to read the updates, regardless of the content! Plus, because I work a weird schedule my first day of work each week is on a Friday, so the updates give me something positive to look forward to. :P --NoJoe
badger66 Posted May 9, 2013 Posted May 9, 2013 Yup , Ive voiced my opinions strongly over the past months ..... and I certainly appreciate these weekly updates . This sim is going from strength to strength ..... and a big thank you to Wag's and his behind the scenes crew . I really don't understand exactly what goes into making a sim like this , its electrickery to me . Thank you .
