Flagrum
Is this just a visual change or could it have something to do with why the first frequency selector of both VHF radios are non-functional in Helios? John New textures - it's just for the looks and no functional change involved.
Modulus
yeah, can't say I'm fond of this texture change. Is there a way to revert the texture back? I don't have an old copy of the game, so I can't just pull it from there.

Copy back the original files from the backup copies you made before? Oh, wait ... :music_whistling: Well, you can also do a DCS Repair from the Eagle Dynamics Start Menu. edit: disregard what I wrote - had a different thread in mind while writing this ... :o) Edited September 8, 2013 by Flagrum
chardly38
I wish the ones we got looked like the ones in that photo. No offense meant to real-life crew chiefs, but I have to agree it looks like a kid got into my cockpit while my plane was parked and vandalized it. edit: no offense meant to the actual creator of the textures either :-P I'm sure it looks the way it does for a reason. I agree to even tho im still in 1.2.5 Im installing tomorrow. Going to find it and change to whats in the picture. cichlidfan
Well, you can also do a DCS Repair from the Eagle Dynamics Start Menu. A repair is not going to change the cockpit to the old one. You either need the file from the old cockpit zip file, or roll the entire sim back to 1.2.5. chardly38
Try This. Unzip and take the A-10C-hud.dds file and drag and drop in to the A_10C_C_EDM_TEX zip file in -world/mods/aircraft/A-10C/cockpit/resources/model/textures Just check the .dds file after putting in the A_10C_C_EDM_TEX zip file and make sure that it doesent say A-10C-hud.dds.dds. The extra .dds will not show up. howie87
The missing 'dash' to indicate which radio is selected on the comms rotary dial also makes an appearance in 1.2.6. I'm not a huge fan of the scribbled letters on the UFC though either. Wish Ricardo's HD pit came with the missing comms dial line... That would be the best of both worlds. Britchot
I think it's funny how actual Warthog jockeys fly their planes with Sharpie modifications while patiently awaiting for the official update from the manufacturer but the flight sim community wants neat and tidy over realistic. I understand the need for aesthetically pleasing flight sims, however. After all, it is the second highest tier of Maslow's pyramid. I've read the other thread and I know what the buttons are for- I'm just curious about what was going on that resulted in the CCs marking it in like that? We (crew chiefs) didn't do those markings, Specs did initially and pilots as well as the wax pencil marks ware off. it all comes down to funding, it would cost more to pull every UFC to replace with printed markings so in the interim it was marked with a wax pencil. I noticed this not too long ago as well, I thought maybe it was a touch of realism, perhaps paulrkiii can shed some light on it, I think he has driven an number of these changes, such as the start up color of the MFDs... cichlidfan
That UFC change makes no sense since it represents an aircraft configuration that is not modeled in DCS. cichlidfan
The change to the UFC was part of a larger package of cockpit spelling fixes that was incorporated in a recent update. The six buttons are associated with the new ARC-210 radio which is not simulated in DCS. In the real jet, when the ARC-210 was first installed, the buttons were still unlabeled, so the labels were applied with a permanent marker. Thats what you're seeing in the game. .
