JayPee Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 1.2.5 + update to 1.2.6: FPS drop Clean reinstall of 1.2.6: same FPS drop I'm deliberately making "yet another topic" about it as one consolidated topic has a fair chance of ending up on page 3 within 72 hours. I find it very odd that I, among others who reported it as well, all of a sudden have an FPS drop after 1.2.6 hence I'm blaming 1.2.6 for now. Would be nice if we'd recieve a reaction from ED about it. Mostly FPS drops when smoke or light effects have to be rendered, if that is useful information. PS: Obviously I did not start changing settings to rule that out as a factor. i7 4790K: 4.8GHz, 1.328V (manual) MSI GTX 970: 1,504MHz core, 1.250V, 8GHz memory
IonicRipper Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 I also noticed my framerate has gone down since 1.2.6 i5 4590 @ 3.77GHz | GTX 1060 6GB | 16GB 1600MHz DDR3 | 1TB HDD+500GB HDD | Win10 Home X64 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Lao Fei Mao Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Same problem too. FPS drops 10+ in airfield even if there is only one jet on the runaway. And I also found that the game became easily no response after you press Alt+TAB to desktop. Really sucks!
Cenobite Posted September 8, 2013 Posted September 8, 2013 Real shame, too stuttery now on track IR, was maxed before, now only get normal frames dropping scenes and vis to low. Needless to say that's a big issue. Full clean install, no change. I7 3930k overclocked 4.5ghz Gtx 780 16 gb 2133 ram Samsung 840 pro ssd

sokolus Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 I agree. It kills whole fun and makes game unplayable with more than few unit. How to fly interesting missions with other planes/heli with low frame rates ? I think ED should seriously think about it, now we have beautiful external models, and we can fly sightseeing from point to point. That isn't FSX, this is a combat simulator where you should fly with other units and use your weapons. At this time it's unplayable, especially with new Mi-8. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

I can't imagine how I would feel if I buy such a monster and, after install DCS, get about 40 Fps.. Stuttering, Choppiness, Freezes.... with every patch, the code inside the "one core - main loop" is bigger. New effects, new parameter for missiles, new AFM for new aircrafts.. new ... new .. new --> more code inside the main loop that it's executed in one thread --> more time the CPU is busy handling objects --> GPU petitions have to wait for the CPU --> FPS hit!! ...meanwhile..the rest of cores...are drinking beer...yes, handling SO petitions.. but they are really drinking beer A main-loop-application executed in one processor (I already know that the sound routines are executed in another thread) was good in the 80's-90's era ... for the sinclair spectrum or Amstrad. As I said above...Look at that Specs!!!!!!! Jeesus Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 +1 There's noticeable difference, first I suspected the new catalyst, but nope, 13.4 is just as bad. And not even the fps is the worst because I still got around 40-45, but not smooth, it has microstutters now, and even the terrain detail was pulled back. I have no clue what is going on  TrailBlazer
upupandaway Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 It´s high time they get EDGE done... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
trooph Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 It normal which each release :) New DCS version= aprox 10fps drop :) Yeah i used to have 60+ no MFDs and 45-50 with both MFDS on...now it just drop itself down to 30 with mustang...no matter what settings :)
El Hadji Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 It normal which each release :) New DCS version= aprox 10fps drop :) Surely a drop from 60+ to 14-20 fps and stuttering can't be considered normal? I have a liquid cooled i5 3570K oc'ed to 4.2 GHz, a MSI GTX 680 Lightning oc'ed to 1.3 GHz (cooled by TwinFrozr), Corsair Force 3 SSD and 8GB's of Corsair Vengeance DDR 3 1600 RAM. If that can't run DCS above at least 40-50 fps I better get myself a new hobby... :joystick: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] My computer specs below: CPU: Intel Core i5 3570K@4.2GHz | CPU Cooler: Corsair Hydro H100 | GPU: MSI Nvidia GTX 680 2GB Lightning 2GB VRAM @1.3GHz | RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance LP DDR3 1600 | SSD 1: Corsair Force 3 120GB (SATA 6) | SSD 2: Samsung 850 EVO 500GB (SATA 6) | Hybrid disc: Seagate Momentus Hybrid 500/4GB (SATA 3) | Keyboard: QPAD MK-85 | Mouse: QPAD 5K LE | TrackIR 5 + Track Clip Pro | Thrustmaster HOTAS Warthog | MFG Crosswind | OS: Win7/64
upupandaway Posted September 11, 2013 Posted September 11, 2013 Well, then it would really be a waste of that money. Things are bound to get better. This has happened before and was resolved for the most part. In case they don´t you can always revisit the idea. ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Deedle, deedle!
Eldur Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 My fps seem to be pretty decent, but I get severe fps drops as soon as some weapons hit things or the ground... explosions, smoke and such eat a lot now. Way too much. Goes from 50-60fps down to like 10-15 or even worse with a full rocket pod salvo or RBKs.

VanjaB Posted September 30, 2013 Posted September 30, 2013 I keep getting random FPS drops when flying in the Mi-8. Im not sure what they are connected to but they happen intermitently and during completely empty skies the FPS drops down to 10-15 FPS and stays like that for 20-30 seconds. They are easily reproducible and keep appearing when flying over the same part of the terrain when first noticed. Very, very strange (un)optimization error. The level of performance just keeps getting worse and worse in DCS. No hardware setup seems immune and its getting unacceptable that we are getting no feedback on ED on what is being done about this.

We do get feedback in the way of Reported Bugs and Errors. once they get reported to ED by the moderator/tester there is nothing to say until the bug or error is worked out in the lab. an update (day to day) wouldn't give any relevant info. so the fix is issued in the form of the new patch. m03dinhas Posted October 13, 2013 Posted October 13, 2013 Hi guys, have exactly the same issue with the FPS since the 1.2.6 update. Another thing I noticed was AI radio comms dont work either, cant get ATC or Tanker on the radio. Had to roll back to the latest 1.2.5 which seems to be very stable and with smooth FPS Really hope this gets sorted soon, otherwise I will stick with 1.2.5
fignuts Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 Just started playing again after a long break. I am getting terrible performance. System specs: i7 2600k OC to 4.2ghz 16gb ram radeon 7870 on 13.11 beta driver windows on ssd, steam/dcs on separate drive not running any other programs Turning off AA, HDR, and all settings down to medium barely made an improvement. FPS is dropping below 10 consistently making it very hard to play! I think something is very wrong with this version.
O_Smiladon Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 I think they should stop patching up this old donk of an engine.. They should put all their efforts into EDGE amd getting it out (not quickly but done right) Speaking for myself I can live with the patch i am on right now till EDGE comes out O_Smiladon [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

SyntaxError Posted October 14, 2013 Posted October 14, 2013 (edited) The engine is dying guys. If the drops are so bad either revert back to 2.5 or put the sim on hold until EDGE comes out. ED haven't even acknowledged these issues publicly on the board as far as I know so things will not be getting better. My only question is whether Georgia will be getting the benefits of EDGE cause if not them I sure as hell don't mind never flying there again. Edit: My specs for anyone wondering AMD Phenom II X4 955BE 8GB DDR3 1333Mhz GTX 560 (non-ti) I haven't really noticed a drastic drop in FPS with 2.6, just the very annoying mem leak introduced which may/maynot be related to the FPS issues you guys in here are experiencing.
