276 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Great news for me. Just want to buy Mi-8. But tomorrow all choppers will be mine :)
galevsky06 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Ooops, they did it again! lol  I was vaccinated with Huey sale. So I did pronostics: Mi-8 at $20 to be annonced on 10th October then released on 24th October. (to respect Huey's calendar) They went faster.:lol::lol:
SkateZilla Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 (edited) Because if you do, you deserve it. I'm not going to beat around the bush; we've been over this during every sale I've been at these forums for. Let's look at a few of your (referring only to the people complaining) arguments: 1) It's bad business sense! Evidently not, because Eagle Dynamics keeps on running them, and Belsimtek is in with a second recently-released beta module after already doing it once. The upshot is clear: the sales are great for business in spite of the sky-is-falling forum whiners. It's not even an unexpected result from a microeconomics standpoint. There exists a class of people for whom a utility helicopter does not represent $50 of fun (I count myself among them), but who do consider a utility helicopter at least $20 of fun (me again). By dropping the price, the developers pull in a bunch of people at $20 who wouldn't have ever paid the undiscounted price. 1a) The Mi-8 was just released two weeks ago! Why is it on sale already? You're cheapening your product! Apparently, it worked well enough for the Huey that BST decided they should do it again. "You're cheapening your product" is another terrible argument, one I only really see in the flight simming and wargaming communities. A game's worth doesn't come from its price, it comes from how good a product it is. People view the goodness of a product differently, and from there they decide what value to attach to it. The goal of any developer should be to make a game appealing, and to price it so that the product of price and people who will buy at that price comes to the largest number. 2) I paid full price a week ago, and now I'm angry that it's on sale! This doesn't make you special, except insofar as it makes you irrational. Consider: I go to see a movie on release night and pay $15 for a ticket. That doesn't mean I'm going to rage at people who go see a Sunday matinee next month: the utility of seeing the movie as soon as I could was, to me, worth paying twice the ticket price. In the same sense, I paid full price for Black Shark 2, because having it immediately was more important to me than the money I would save by waiting for a discount. If you paid full price and are angry when it goes on sale, that's on you: you didn't think hard enough about your preferences and what they're worth to you, and you paid more for a module than the value you actually assigned to it, even knowing as you probably did that there would be another sale soon. Your impatience is not ED's fault. Users are free to voice their opinion in a civilized manner, I wouldnt down rep' them for that. As long as it remains civilized, and not someone posting with a bunch of caps, bold letters, and negative impact GIFs. That being said. I dont regret for 1 second paying full price for anything. So if I get something on release day, I get it before the sale, and I contribute more support to the developers, my mind is at ease. Having a Sale 2 weeks later just helps populate the world I fly in *(no pun intended). While getting the developers a boost in sales and income. I tend to Sale shop everywhere, for games, for computer hardware/electronics, and for anything else. I dont get mad when I buy something (ie PC Parts) online and it goes on sale a few weeks, Sometimes a few days/hours later. NRG-Vampire Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 If ED releases a module of an aircraft you really like you will not take the chance in waiting for a sale that may come in a month or two. It's still possible to buy the Mi-8 for full price folks! :D YEAH, HIP HIP HURRAY :D
Devrim Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I knew it! :D I was waiting for this, but I gave up yesterday. I was going to buy this morning at office. But somehow I couldn't log-in. I thought it was firewall or something and said "Never mind! I'll buy when at home." Now I'm at home and reading all these. :) 1 Intel i7-14700@5.6GHz | MSI RTX4080 SuperSuprimX | Corsair V. 64GB@6400MHz. | Samsung 1TB 990 PRO SSD (Win10Homex64) Samsung G5 32" + Samsung 18" + 2x8"TFT Displays | TM Warthog Stick w/AVA Base | VPC MongoosT-50CM3 Throttle | TM MFD Cougars | Logitech G13, G230, G510, PZ55 & Farming Sim Panel | TIR5 & M.Quest3 VR >>MY MODS<< | Discord: Devrim#1068
TaliG Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I love it ... :megalol: Many of you jumped on me when I was complaining about the huey on sale... Anyway. LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. I did. Not only that. I also not buy on sale. I have already spent 200+$ for modules that I do not really fly. I am sure when finally I find the time to fly something else, the price will be atleast 70% down... But no, I will not be stupid for a second time. If I didn't have the $50 to spend on it or if money was tight I would not have purchased it at full price; however, I had the money and don't much care that it's on sale already except that it will enable more pilots to join me in the skies. Which is always a good thing. :D Robert Sogomonian | Psyrixx website| e-mail | blog | youtube | twitter
ED Team NineLine Posted September 19, 2013 ED Team Posted September 19, 2013 With something like the Mi-8 I can wait for a sale, one because money is tight, two because I think helicopters are kept aloft by witchcraft of which I dont full understand and usually crash into whatever might be 3 feet from me... When the Dora is released... I will be trying to purchase.. well lets be honest, I have been trying to give them my credit card number for it already. I wont care if there is a sale a couple weeks later, I wont be able to wait 1 day for it... My only complaint is that Nevada isnt on the list to purchase yet :) As said, I anticipated the MI-8 to not go on sale before final release. And there have been occasions in the past, where all modules were like 60% off, except for FC3 I think it was that was only 10% off or so. I'd not complain if the newly released beta would be just 10% off, but 60% ?! Sorry I have to use my grey matter for more important things than to keep track when there might be sales. Yes I am angry and it's my right to be. Not going to attack anyone personally, but this finally taught me to patiently wait for a sale when a new beta is released. Next time when a new beta is relaesed say so if there is going to be a sale withing the next 2...3 weeks. I'm sure this sale didn't find its way on the schedule just hours ago... SkateZilla Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Nice sale. I got a couple of modules in the Steam sale a week or two ago, so I'll be passing this one by. I do kind of sympathize with the people who are annoyed by the Mi8 sale. I know I wont be buying any ED modules at full price again, too risky if sales pop up this quickly. Might be shooting themselves in the foot. I'd say after the Uh1 and now the Mi8, a lot of others will be doing the same. And If they arnt hurt (in a business sense) by this effect, then that means they must be really inflating the initial cost of the modules from what they think it is actually worth. That's how a customer will perceive it anyway. After the Initial Release Rush of Sales. There's a usually a long calm, where sales Trickle in. Sales Generate attention and boosts in sales. The Bottom line for any company is Net Income. What's better: Selling 10 pcs of a SKU at $50, or selling 100 pcs of the same SKU at $25? The Price per unit is lower, but the total Net Income is Higher. In the Digital Distribution Software era, Price Per Unit is not really devastatingly important. LosT_SouL_VL Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I want to buy BS2 as a replacement (and steam compatible) for my BS2 upgrade. Do I just have to uninstall the BS2 upgrade module and install the full BS2 module or do I have to do a new full DCS world install?
Save Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Anyway, for myself as for all Customer who feel a little offense today... We have only one power : show to ED our point of view on next release. I'm sure that not only me will be able to wait 2 weeks... or a little more. We have enough Beta

UVPMechan Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I suggest not to buy immediately. The product UH-1 was the same. Just wait until the price goes down. We'll see what comes of it. After 14 days of such discount it is simply a mockery of those that you bought it at full price. It makes me sick.: Cry:

Cibit Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 I may be wrong but now we have people who will buy the Mi-8 because its cheap and I am afraid the Mi-8 section of the forums will turn out like DCS world and A10-C sections, spammed with crap posts and repetitive questions and the people who genuinely wanted to master this helo will suffer accordingly. ff4life4 Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 Never again on release +1. I second. I am extremely pissed that they pulled this stunt again. You can say all you want about my complaining, but this is ridiculous. We have worked hard for our money. For a product to get a 60% reduction in price in 2 WEEKS in BETA stage, I cannot comprehend this. I have learned my lesson. I will NEVER but a BST product at full price again. This is a slap in the face. From the words of Michael Scott To all of those who waited, I am very happy for you. For the rest of us who paid full price, and respect our money, we are extremely upset. 2
speckfire Posted September 19, 2013 Posted September 19, 2013 It mind boggling to know that ripping off people is ok by some members on this forum when they have an interest at hand instead of showing some support against unfair and unscrupulous business conduct. I'm speechless. Speed is life !!!
