OK, I'm going all in. This will be my build thread.

Design goals:

  • Realism focused on details of the cockpit
  • Working switches
  • Analog dials and instuments wherever possible
  • Backlit panels
  • Immersive environment with large screens
  • Modular design

With the inspiration I have from the other builders here, I hope to be able to create something special.

Good luck! Only advice I can really say at this point is what I personally have major problems with. Patience! :) I get excited and rush getting something done just so I can use it. It then doesn't look as good as it could and you wind up wanting to, and then finally redoing it.

Oh yeah, one more thing. Most every question you have has been addressed already. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult searching for something that your not quite sure how to phrase so the search works. The one thing I've found that gives me more answers than questions is going through every thread and post of some of the bigger playerson this board. You'll know the ones because they'll have like 50+ pages in their thread.

Hope this helps, but you probably know most of it anyway, so again, good luck!

Ryan, first of all welcome to forum and good luck with your build.

however consider being more concise. you have 5 back to back posts with pretty much same info. before you know it the substance of your thread will get burred under lots of pages. you can append info to your existing posts with the "edit" button.

Looking forward to the pit build.

Nice computer case, does it come with a bathroom ? :)

Yes, but I took it out so I could install more radiators. :)

So I've been looking at the Thrustmaster MFD's and I just can't shake my OCD. They are 70mm too short and about 30mm too narrow. I'm thinking I'll buy the MFD's and reuse the buttons in a new frame of the correct size. I'm designing a new bezel now.

count the rockers

I noticed that too but didn't make mention of it. Might have to get a second set to experiment with and have extra buttons.

Ryan, all I can say is ive bought 4 thrustmaster MFDs and I dont like them, too small, but hey, they look the part and are plug and play so I will put up and shut up.

But yeah, if you have the skills, make your own and if you can reuse the Thrustmasters, Im with you for a set of Bezles, I want Eurofighter ones though!!
