Nybble Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Hi all, I'll keep this short and simple. I run a server for myself and my friends who play DCS:W. Usually we don't complete missions as such, more so we practice elements of the aircraft such as takeoff, landing, formation flying, airbase traffic patterns, weapon employment etc. Sometimes a player may get bored, feel left out, not in the mood, whatever the reason they start their own fun by teamkilling. Once a loaded A-10c is in the air with malicious intent it's near impossible to complete a ramp start and takeoff without getting wiped. So what I am looking for, is some mission editor functionality to deal with these situations. My mission already has AA setup around the base, so would be be a means to change a player to the RED team if they deal enough team damage? Or just make them explode, or anything of the sort? I'm open to any suggestions, and I'm aware I will probably get responses along the lines of 'Don't let these players join if thats how they act' however just keep in mind that they are friends who don't have as much enthusiasm in aviations and sims as you or me. Thanks guys! DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -

It's called SL Mod and is found running on ENO's Firehouse, AEF OCB and many other servers http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=80979 Thanks, that seems like it should do the trick. Do you know how I would go about configuring it to kill a player or switch their team after they kill 3 players? DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
ENO Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 SLMOD can be configured right down to hits or kills and has a very flexible severity level based on points determined by the admin. For example- it takes 100 points to get banned off the server and 50 to get kicked and allowed to come back. A collision might be worth 15 but a collision resulting in a kill might be 50. A weapon hit on an AI might be 25 points but a weapon hit on human might be 50. Maybe you turn those off? Maybe you turn severity up. Regardless- it's very tailorable to your needs. That's just a basic example. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
Nybble Posted December 23, 2013 Author Posted December 23, 2013 I will look into SLMOD. However in the meantime I decided to pickup CA on sale, a few SA-19's and SA-15's placed around the airbase should keep things under control DCS Multiplayer Highlights Reel -
ENO Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 (edited) Putting SAMs in place doesn't really help you resolve your issue- You shoot him down then he comes back again and again... And he can keep coming in whenever he wants- and he will, because he knows he's annoying you and that's how these idiots get their fun. SLMOD is nice because you can have it set to auto kick a few times before he is banned (everyone makes mistakes)- or just ban him outright depending on the infraction. It'll ban his UCID as well as by IP. Servman also works, and I believe is still supported by the community. You can see that over in Multiplayer / Server administration. The setup for SLMOD is REALLY simple (copy a folder into place)- to delete it, remove that folder. If you want a quick walkthrough drop me a pm. I have been using it for awhile and have some recommendations. Edited December 23, 2013 by ENO "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. Wrecking Crew Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I will share my Slmod BannedClients.lua file if you want -- PM me. Good idea to never mention the offender's name in the forums. It's happened where a team killer will use someone else's name to make the kills. Slmod captures both the team killer's UID and IP address and uses those identifiers to kick or ban. --- You can also use the Player Pool window from the server and Kick clients. Jetkar Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 (edited) We have serverman and adminstrators that watch our server. If we witness team killing either serverman or adminstrators will either kick or ban individuals in question. As we do not tolerate team killing. Repeating offenders will be totally banned from our server. Dr. Yes Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Just kick them off the server. Kick / ban. TKers are total assholes.

Merlin-27 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Yup, SLMOD. Love it. And despite what some may say about performance impact on the server from what I see on ours, it's negligible. TKers can be frustrating. The ban hammer is the ultimate "last laugh." Now be prepared... I've seen people get around the UCID ban but if you make it too much work for them they usually move on to get their jollies elsewhere. Wolf Rider Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 IP addy's are really easy to change as well... downside (once again only affecting the innocent) is list of IP's are built up, of which an innocent player may have his (dynamic, from a similar area) IP as one listed on there City Hall is easier to fight, than a boys' club - an observation :P "Resort is had to ridicule only when reason is against us." - Jefferson "Give a group of potheads a bunch of weed and nothing to smoke out of, and they'll quickly turn into engineers... its simply amazing." HiJack Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 ServMan kicks and bans automatically if selected in the config file. I run this on my open server and manually lift bans after some days if the player is not a returning offender or have got a lot off complaints. Banned and lifted bans is retained in the same config file so it is easy to see if the same user, ucid or ip returns in the list.

But, like I said, even after banning a UCID I have seen a pest return to cause more trouble. So there is either a way around this OR he is so committed to annoying me that he installed multiple copies of DCS. Setting up ban tables in SLMOD needs to be tested thoroughly with a couple of test players so it works the way you want. At least that is my experience with it. The same goes for ServMan actually. Just test it out with some tight settings and try to crack it and connect after you have been banned so you know it is working. As an admin you lift the bans easily on your test pilots if they still are your friends after testing :P
Merlin-27 Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 Dealing with teamkilling. I've banned others who could not return. I'm pretty sure it's functioning properly. This one "individual" came back repeatedly with different UCIDs. I banned them all of course but that does nothing to prevent them from entering with yet another new UCID. My point was that I've even seen that approach exploited. HiJack Posted January 17, 2014 Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) Ah, ok that sure will make it a problem! Did you try to ban the IP or was that changing also? I'm wondering if I've had some of the same? Can you IM me the names / numbers? I'd like to see a bit more interaction between server hosts. I've started adding labels to my ban list so next to the name I have a reason within the quotes. This way if I share my list a person can see the severity action resulting in the ban, how long ago it was. Maybe I'm just a tightwad... Maybe some people believe in second chances... Anyway, adds some possibilities. I know on more than a couple occasions during the fly in Crew came over to the firehouse from HP and said a guy had been going in that was eventually banned and to keep an eye open for him... sure enough, in many cases the guy was already banned on the Firehouse or came in at some point later. Anyway... this will be a bit less of an issue for us since the firehouse will be locked with passwords available over TS3 once 1.2.7 leaves beta but have a pretty substantial list of miscreants if anyone wants to draw from it (roughly 100 names). Not all have labels but many do. "ENO" Type in anger and you will make the greatest post you will ever regret. "Sweetest's" Military Aviation Art
