Headwarp Posted March 11, 2016 Posted March 11, 2016 (edited) Hiya mate, it's a killer waiting but, by all accounts, well worth it. I've posted the delivery progress just to illustrate the route my order is taking - all was going well but progress appears to have ground to a halt at Neufahrn. I was expecting delivery today (Wednesday) but I don't think this will happen now. That said, in the past, I've been gobsmacked at how quickly some things can be delivered from Europe. I remember once, I purchased a steering wheel and pedals from Fanatec in Germany. I placed the order one afternoon and tracked the order via the UPS mapping system throughout the night - it was totally fascinating - the UPS driver pulled up outside my address in England at 0720hrs the following morning - what an amazing service. Out of interest, when did you order your MFG's? I ordered in Jan 14th. I won't be surprised if it's the latter half of the month that they're shipped. But lol it does seem like the days are passing by slower now that it's getting closer. I'm confident they're worth the wait. It wouldn't be so bad if I had some kind of rudder input other than a hatswitch or slew axis. That's not Milan's fault though. And just looking at pictures of them I feel like they're going to last the rest of my life, potentially even if USB gets drowned by new standards. wish people would stop driving up our cul-de-sac and turning round... the carpet in our hallway will be worn out at this rate... wife say's, 'you don't have to keep jumping up and down every time you hear a blinking car outside, we've got a door bell'..... This is maddening. Hardly ever notice the sound of traffic until something's out for delivery...then all of the sudden every vehicle that drives by sounds loud enough to be a delivery vehicle. I've had delivery people put a "failed to deliver" notice on my door without even knocking. UPS and Fedex may cause paranoia. Remarkymarkable Posted March 29, 2016 Posted March 29, 2016 I'm considering ordering them. I don't have any foot pedals at the moment and am new to flying SIMS. I imagine they increase maneuverability a great deal. Can anyone tell me how much of a difference they make? Thank you
Flamin_Squirrel Posted March 30, 2016 Author Posted March 30, 2016 Not so much an increase in maneouverability, but improved accuracy/precision in movement. This becomes particularly relevant for helicopters and WW2 planes where pedal use is very important.
slicker55 Posted March 31, 2016 Posted March 31, 2016 First of all, if you're new to flight-sim - a warm welcome to a great hobby. I think most will agree that getting a good set of pedals will add another level of immersion and greatly improve your flying experience. When to take this leap of faith is another question... I reckon all of those who have gone the whole hog, have been in your current situation and appreciate what might be going through your mind. I would say that investing in pedals at this stage all depends on what other gear you may already have or intend to buy. I'm looking at this from a priority point of view with some things arguably sitting higher up the chain than others. If you already have a descent computer, HOTAS, and TrackiR then a nice set of pedals will be the icing on the cake. Don't get me wrong, I love all my gear but based purely on priority, pedals was the last thing I bought. 1 i7-5820K 3.30Ghz | Asus X99-S | Sapphire R290X | R7 240 | 16GB DDR4 PC4 2800MHz | Samsung 850 EVO 500GB SSD (OS) | Samsung 840 EVO 500GB SSD (DCS) | Noctua NH-D14 2011 Cooler | OCZ ZT 750W '80 Plus Bronze' Modular PSU | NZXT Phantom Enthusiast | 3 x IIyama Prolite E2473HDS 24" | 1 x Dell S2240T 21.5" Touch Screen | Windows 10 64-Bit | AMD Eyefinity 5760 x 1080 | TrackIR5 | TM Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind 1771 | Vaicom Pro + VA (Licensed) | Sennheiser Game Zero | Honeycomb Yoke (June 2020)]
