Guns: Can't lock target while holding 1st trigger detent
Lixma 06 replied to Lixma 06's topic in DCS: MiG-29A Fulcrum
Update! IR Close Combat Mode - Cannot (re)lock target while in 1st stage trigger detent. RAD Close Combat Mode - Can (re)lock target while in 1st stage trigger detent! I can't think why the two modes (IR Close Combat, RAD Close Combat) would behave so differently when they're essentially doing the same job. Another oddity is that RAD Close Combat takes a couple of seconds to lock the target, while the IR CC is suspiciously instantaneous. Something fishy here. -
You're probably better off upgrading to Windows 11 anyway, you'll find it's recommended for DCS due to better performance, especially with Intel chips. I'm not sure if your plan is to bring your MFDs into the game with you, but I have never heard Windows Mixed Reality Link being used for this (don't know if supported for OpenXR games). Do you have sources for that information if that's what you were intending? Folk who normally do this do it via OpenKneeboard (creating coloured sections for chromakey passthrough) and Virtual Desktop.

This is great practice, helping me get my head around the radar. Love it, thanks!

Same here, I'm struggling a lot to get the AI to attack. Lots of dry runs , pullouts, and flying away randomly.

Rule of thumb when hurting on gas and trying to get home: Max range at any Altitude set 4 deg Alpha power as required to maintain level flight (nil wind) Max endurance at any Altitude set 5-6 deg Alpha power as required to maintain level flight. For Max performance in both be at Optimum altitude/ Which will vary as a function of Drag Index and weight but be in the 30,000's roughly.

GunnerFlyboy started following Malwarebytes change - DCS wouldn't start
-
I encountered a strange issue. One day, I was flying DCS without issue, and the next day, the sim wouldn't start. I'm sharing this to let people know a solution since there has been a change in my Malware protection capabilities. First, to describe the issue, the DCS.exe would be present in the task manager, and you could see it start loading memory. The memory used/loaded was about 106-8.2 MB... When DCS didn't show any CPU activity, I would kill the process and start again. Through the process of elimination, I found that Malwarebytes had an update between when it worked and when it didn't, no splash screen, nothing. The only way to figure out that there was a problem was to watch the boot sequence of DCS in the task manager. The specific setting had to do with Settings -> Protection -> Exploit protection (and the sub item "Block potentially malicious email attachments"). I turned off the Exploit protection in Real-Time Protection. There is no log to attach, as there was almost no log. It got to the login tasks, and that is where it died. I hope this helps someone.

I think I fixed the issue with the keys not binding. I had to copy the program 2024_TFHT_1.exe from my old computer to my new one. This is the Thrustmaster Control Panel program that allows you to enable virtual buttons. There is no documentation on the Thrustmaster support site that states that this is a required program to get the full functionality if the TQS throttle, nor is there any link to this file on the TQS support page as to where to download this program. I down loaded this program on 2024 and it looks like it was discontinued. The only software to download for the TQS Throttle is the TARGET software, and I never used it on any of my Thrustmaster joysticks. Luckily I had a second computer with this program installed. If it works, I will mark this post as solved, but I working on this issue for 8 hours and its time to sleep. I also have an other issue where the landing gear knob is loose and just touching it causes the the up button to turn off which should not happen since I didn't do the full swing of the level to the down position. Note that this is a new joystick replacement for my old one. This is the last time I buy a Thrustmaster product.

DCS Not Showing In Quest Link Apps
Desert Drydock replied to Desert Drydock's topic in Virtual Reality
sleighzy I learned that Windows 10 won't work to support mixed reality in the Quest 3S this afternoon and was confirmed by meta support. The main reason I'm coming back to DCS and VR is because mixed reality has finally caught up to my past hopes of having a basic simpit meshed with VR. I bought a Quest 2 when it first came out, it was awesome for flying but irritatingly awkward for trying to find the correct switch or button by feel, like MFD operation. -
Take screenshots. I make all my videos with the intention that people can take screenshots to save all the info

Continuation of this issue: In some situations the issue has been resolved, but it still exists with certain unit/livery combinations.

trees are only concealment not cover. the best thing between you and that missile is Earth.. but it is funny as your missiles probally dont go through the trees, I know most of my hellfires do not.. but maybe do you have a track?

Absolutely! Didn't even know they came with nukes. Our ones would never have been allowed to be deployed with any. Sent from my SM-A536B using Tapatalk

@BIGNEWY, I worked exclusively in the Mission Editor today for 6+hrs converting static slots into dynamic slots. Here are plenty of screenshots to review. The Red Boxes/Arrows show the wrong livery upon first access. The Green Boxes/Arrows show the proper livery after selecting it. There were more instances but I am exhausted from staring into the ME & using Paint.net to highlight. My DCS log is also attached. Not sure if that will confirm the problem. What do you see? dcs - 2025-10-04.log

Can You Fly Formation Aerobatics Without Multiplayer?

@RTS354 You don't need T.A.R.G.E.T for this in DCS. I assume the TQS is made like the Warthog, with two position switches only wired for one of the positions, and three positions wired only for two positions. Hence sims can't detect the off positions without logic build in. I'm a little confused. Say you bind "gear up" to one of the switches, "button1" and then you have to bind the same switch to the off position "button1_off" for "gear down". You already tried this and it doesn't work? That's the issue? That's odd. Never experienced that. In other sims, if they don't provide the same "off" logic like DCS does, your just out of luck, or must use T.A.R.G.E.T. Cheers! I just started this campaign and after shooting down 10 bombers between my wingman and myself I RTB'd to Anderson to find a bomber dropping bombs. No additional dialog from anyone after I started engaging the bombers. When I reported inbound to Anderson ATC told me to go to my alternate. I ended up diverting to Saipan and ended with a draw for a result.

Wondering whether pilot are able to direct control radar in the upcoming new plane, or it could still be controlled only by RIO?

I just received my replacement TQS after some of the switches failed on my previous version. My issue is that none of the switches work in the off position, and this also applies to the Gear switch as well; for example, in DCS, I can bind the gear up position, but not the gear down position. I can bind the CAT 1 position, but not the CAT 3 position. This applies to all buttons and switches on the throttle. Although with some of the switches, I can select the button off option for binary functions, I cannot do this with the OFF option in the MODE switch or the BIT option on the Program switch. I had no issues with my previous the version of the Viper TQS and I didn't even need to install any drivers for it. It just worked perfectly out of the box. I thought it might be an issue with Thrustmaster switching to virtual buttons, but I could not find any options in Windows 11 , or in the TARGET software to enable virtual buttons. Any suggestions?

DCS MiG-29A Screenshots and Videos Thread

Are these planned for public release? I spent a few weeks in Czechia and love their aircraft paint schemes. -
I'll check out your vid when I have time. Typically I avoid videos since I need written text and ctrl+F capability to find the info I'm looking for; also cellular data consumption
