Nose is not the only difference between 19S and 19P. It`s radar and 2 guns instead of 3, afair. So why to do it? Just for F2 view?

Hi everyone I have two questions about something that’s been puzzling me for a while. In many videos (like the Hornet Ball compilations), you often see F/A-18s (and other aircraft) flying at low altitude and high speed — roughly 800–1200 ft and around 350 knots, I’d guess, since the HUD isn’t visible in most of those clips — passing along the port side of the carrier. This doesn’t seem to match any procedure I’m familiar with, whether it’s entering the carrier control zone, Case I/II/III departures or recoveries, or a standard SHB pattern. So I’m wondering: is this some kind of special or less-known procedure, or just a “flyby” done for the video on special occasions? Also, in the same type of videos, you often see ordnance crew members manually holding and guiding munitions while loading them onto the pylons. Don’t they normally use hoists or lift trucks for that? If such equipment exists, why isn’t it used in those cases? Thanks in advance for any insight!

Moin Struppi, vielen Dank!

Just like flight-sim users are, what, 0.0000001% of the gaming userbase, who are themselves just a partial number of the total/global number of Windows users? It doesn't matter what a few of us think about Linux, or disbelief/contradict. Things are evolving fast, whether it takes six months or six years it'll surely get much further than it has already. Win10 EOL yesterday, with TPM2.0 implementation by Microsoft, means basically locking out of Win11 (and upcoming Win12) a huge number of people with perfectly capable systems, who now won't be migrating to the newer OS, and will be looking to an alternative. The privacy concerns, all the bloating, the forced updates (which can and will break something at some point), all of these have been very real and, by the way things are going, more people will look for alternatives. My guess is when Win12 gets out it might tank - some of these alternatives are already perfectly capable today for regular/casual use, and for free on top of it all. I just wonder, how many of you replying to this thread have tried one of the latest Linux distros? If you didn't, then you might be in for a shock - most of them work out of the box for any regular desktop or laptop use (and for free). No drivers hunting or installation - that's done during installation options. Just as easy/fast to install (if not more) in any system as Windows. More people going to alternatives like Linux, either by choice or because no other better alternatives exhist, means more people messing with stuff and indirectly boosting development, either by sheer motivation or necessity. Gaming and related subjects/accessories comes with that as well, and that's why things have been evolving fast there in these last years, and will eventually have good conditions for people into niche stuff like sims (such as DCS) and respective gadgets to be there too. Let's wait and see how it'll go. One thing I'm certain, after years messing with it for other users, I'm definitely not going to "upgrade" to Win11 - worst case scenario I'll stay with the "outdated" Win10.

ok this one was on me not reading carefully enough ... weapon release button ... not ... spacebar... ( i do think the moving out of sim to fire the gun is still cumbersome though... my 0.02) (you could add a note in the briefing just leave it out of SIM mode, unless thats something you are relying on to activate the gun? ) However .. landing... Comm 1 channel 9 is not usable for the normal DCS landing process, it needs to be the same frequency as channel 4... otherwise you cant use the normal DCS radio calls and you get improper communications otherwise

Do you have the switch set to “Boresight”? Outside the canopy bow you need to aim the missile’s seeker directly, not through the IRST.

To be sure, you must also render the CMSC display on a monitor, otherwise it will not be shown on your external display. We had this problem with our simulator. We hide the cockpit, but we still have to render the CMSC display on a monitor (in our case, the monitor for the instrument panel). It is sufficient if the size is 1x1 pixel. If this is not done, the external display will not show anything.

Srs Intercom 2 stage trigger
RazorbackNL replied to WelshZeCorgi's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Old threat, I know, but for those who are still struggling with this issue, it does work in SRS Bind the first trigger stage to Special Intercom Select & PTT. The first stage now acts as an Intercom PTT. Bind the first trigger stage also to Common PTT and bind the second trigger stage to Common PTT Modifier. The second stage now acts as a Radio PTT. -
Maintenance and Reliability System for SAM Sites
Gunfreak replied to FlintMcgee's topic in DCS Core Wish List
The perfection of AI does remove a lot of realism. Sadly making realistic AI seems to be hardest thing in any game, from old RTS, fighting games, shooters and sims(racing and flight) As it is now, there seens to be very little difference between best and worst AI settings on ground units, except their accuracy in firing of gund/cannons. Having learned about the RWR in the new MIG29. It's almost useless for anything except (stuff is out there) a human player will not have good SA in that thing. But the AI can interpret the RWR at light speed. Same goes for SAMs. SAMs when on, will never have any delay in finding out where the enemy is. No head scratching, no turning of diels or looking through scopes in those old vacuum tube machines. Perfect modern computer accuracy and efficiency. And that's without taking into account that in some instances (cough Iraq cough) the crew simply refused to do what they were supposed to do or ran as soon as they understood they were being targeted (this last thing can be somewhat simulated with triggers we have now, but it not a straight forward process)- 3 replies

Klingt sehr interessant was ihr macht . LG

Polar Shield - Free Viper campaign for the Kola map

Well I've been busy using sensors and everything when flying Kola, so I have not been bothered by some irregularities. But I've enjoyed the map a lot as it is such and strategic area and looks overall really good where I've been. -At least for the jet-jockey.

I use the 4YA Syria server as my test bed for tweaking my VR it really works my mid range system. Have no idea what they run in the back ground for scripts. If I can run fairly smooth on it I'm pretty well golden anywhere else. My system is in my signature. J

So far my replacement set have not been losing traction or shutting down to save power as much. I'll try experimenting with hand control and see if that causes the issue. -
