UPDATE: I have released a new, better, version. See post #20 http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=772603&postcount=20 Hi! I've written a program for controlling the leds from BS today. Buttons 1,2,5,6 display the targeting mode (ie, ground moving, autoturn etc) and 3,4,7,8 show autopilot status. When flight director is activated the autopilot leds will be amber instead of green. I hope someone will find this useful. Add the function from addtoexport.lua to your export.lua file and just start g940.exe. I have no idea what kind of runtime libraries is needed to run it, it is the first program I have written in visual studio. EDIT: updated the coroutine so you don't have to change the host ip (it uses localhost now instead of my local ip..)1 point

wooo, after days of fiddling, fighting with the heli, getting frustrated, reading/posting in forums etc. i decided to write this post and try to cover most of the things. i think i found a good setup to get started, my flying skills boosted up already (hovering, high speed low altitude, fast stopping without gaining too much height, stabilizing, aiming, fighting, landing on a ship, dive under bridges and cables, ;) ) (sorry for any bad english) in the beginning: 1. unpack your shiny mighty g940 ;) 2. download the current drivers from logitech (version 5.08 at the moment) 3. install them and plug in the monster. TAPE THE SENSOR AT THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE STICK! otherwise the deadman sensor will prevent the ffb-trim working correctly. 4. goto windows settings - gamecontrollers - recheck the calibration from the software setup 5. FORCE FEEDBACK Part1: also check the force feedback settings of the g940 joystick: my personal recommendation: - leave everything on 100% - uncheck the "center-spring" (maybe bad translated) 6. recheck the following files in the blackshark-directory, if you changed something for your former joystick/flightsystem/controller: root\Scripts\Aircrafts\_Common - FMOptions.lua HelicopterTrimmerZonePitch = 0.05; HelicopterTrimmerZoneRoll = 0.05; HelicopterTrimmerZoneRudder = 0.1; HelicopterTrimmerTauInverse = 7.0; root\Config - Producer.cfg ForceFeedbackEnabled = true; !!! 7. HANDLING: startup the Logitech Profiler. choose device -> g940 joystick choose game -> dcs black shark (this is logitechs default profile, didn't like it, deleted it for a new one) on the left side, all axis configurations for the joystick are listed (X, Y, MiniX, MiniY ...): left click - axis properties - HERE YOU SETUP YOUR PREFERED HANDLING OF EVERY AXIS OF THE STICK - NEVER TOUCH THE DEFAULT SETTINGS OF THE AXIS TUNE PANEL IN DCS:BLACK SHARK OPTIONS (like deadzone, curvature, saturation and stuff...) my recommendation: axis sensitivity - 0% (yes!) deadzone - 0% range - 100% for the beginning, apply these settings to every! axis of all devices (throttle and pedals too), the result will be a very precise handling experience. but you can come back later anytime and make your own setting. EVEN DURING FLIGHT YOU CAN ALT-TAB SWITCH TO THE PROFILER AND ADJUST YOUR SETTINGS AND KEYBINDINGS! (thats cool...) recommendation for the right throttle-axis, check -> invert, a helo-collective is pulled in reality... if you are already firm with the keystrokes you want to assign to the joystick buttons - hack them in... examples: - T for trim on the stickbutton S4 - SPACE for firing the cannon on the trigger - RIGHT-ALT + SPACE for missiles/ rockets/ bombs on the red colored fire-button OOOPS! in version 5.08 of the profiler, there maybe a bug with recording the RIGHT-ALT + SPACE combination. somehow a CTRL-key is also recorded, no problem. simply export the current profile to an xml-file. open it with a texteditor (like notepad), search for the command table containing: Name="Keystroke LCTRL + ALT GR + SPACE" (may differ depending on your localization, had to translate this from german) in this table look for: <Event Type="Key" Keyname="LCTRL" Up="false" KeynameUndo="LCTRL" /> delete it, rename the name of the table from Name="Keystroke LCTRL + ALT GR + SPACE" to Name="Keystroke ALT GR + SPACE". save and re-import it to the profiler. 8. START BLACK SHARK: go to options - controls. check if there are any actions configured with the g940 buttons. if so, delete them all, use the logitech-profiler for all bindings to the buttons of the flightsystem. after cleaning all up, there should be only the keyboard-bindings left (i recommend leaving the default keyboard-bindings untouched, furthermore, i deleted everything of the arcade-mode, including keyboard-bindings). next, go to options - controls - AXIS COMMANDS. if there are any settings on the 3 g940 devices, delete them. now add: g940 joystick - cyclic pitch JOY Y - cyclic roll JOY X g940 pedals - rudder JOY RZ - wheel brake JOY Y (also add JOY X if you like) g940 throttle - first: REMOVE THE LINK BETWEEN THE LEFT & RIGHT THROTTLE on the device - then bind collective JOY X (THE RIGHT THROTTLE) after that reconnect them or bind another action to the left throttle if you don't want to use them together. 9. FORCE FEEDBACK Part2 now click on FF TUNE. to start with something, i recommend TRIMMER FORCE = 50, SHAKE seems to have no effect at all (i never felt an impact changing that setting). ok, thats enough for a flight test. (don't forget the trimmer binding in the logi-profiler) 10. start a mission or create an empty scenario for basic flight testing. now take off and check it out. you can always pause and alt-tab to the profiler and adjust the axis settings and button bindings. have fun and good luck! :pilotfly: i hope i didn't forget something... feel free to post your own tips & tricks. ps: thanks a lot to all the forum members who helped me finding these settings. edit 25.october'09: i highly recommend these posts: - for handling, sensitivity, ffb settings... http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45809 - a basic flight/combat logiprofiler-setup: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=763179&postcount=28 (but for german version of BS and logi-profiler!) - first mod for the throttle LED's: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=45895 made a picture with the working version of morg's g940led tool: i used amber for standby/off/inactive, green for active and red for special (AP Ammo, Landinggear). as you can see the LED's are displaying that i'm hovering, in target tracking mode, landinggear retracted, moving ground target and turn to target activated, using HE cannon rounds. update august 2010: - please use the new logitech 5.09 driver - update the firmware of the G940 - check this post: http://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=954388&postcount=1181 point

Fairchild Republic A-10C "Warthog" Checklist Kamov Ka-50 "Black Shark" checklist can be found here : http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=35571 Some of you might know me from the BlackShark checklist, see link directly above this line. I started with the Warthog checklist while the sim was in beta stage, but never got to finish it when the game was released. Now after a long time I came back and searched for a checklist somebody else made, paulrkiii's checklist seems to be the best available. But I wanted something else instead of paper, so I found iWarthog for my iPhone 4, superb app, but I find the screen too small, couldn't find what I really wanted, a Warthog checklist for my MacBook (also running Windows 7). I can't program in new languages, so creating software from scratch was not an option. I do however know my way in Excel, so here it is the fully interactive checklist for the Hog. This is designed for use in Windows and Office 2010. I used several VBA code in the file, you can review this before use if you want, if you don't trust me. I used paulrkiii's checklist as base for this checklist, so you can also use his layout pictures as the locations are also mentioned in my Interactive Excel checklist. Thumbs up to paulrkiii !! The checklist will open with the Main Menu, here you can click on the link for each checklist, and the checklist will open. You dubbleclick on each red square for each checklist item to check it off. When you finish a checklist press on the button "Complete Checklist" and the checklist will be reset and you will be taken back to the Main Menu page. Each checklist page also allows you to jump back and forth between checklists or jump back to the Main Menu. Each checklist page also contains a button from which you can open the build in speed calculator, it will give you the required rotate, takeoff and approach speeds at a specific weight. Data is taken from iWarthog. Mission data page can be filled with specific mission data and can be cleared with the click of a button. Hello guys, I was watching some footage on youtube from TOW missiles being fired and it seemed that the smoke they produced was barely visible, unlike the full burn smoke produced by the TOW in Black Shark. So the question is, are TOW missiles really smokeless or is it just a feature included in DCS to make our lives a tad easier by making them clearer to spot when launched at us? :pilotfly: Not that it counts as a great example, but when launching the TOW at Operation Arrowhead, it burns for 2 seconds or less and then continues completely smokeless. After I saw that I got curious and started looking for videos to see how it works in real life. Since the DCS series is a high-fidelity recreation of all these weapon systems and I got some contrasting examples of this system in particular, I wanted to ask here in the forum, for there are people here who never cease to amaze me in terms of military expertise. :smartass:1 point

My personal note.. I would hang some computer builders by the b**** in draught. They build a powerfull machine and use a cheap 300W PSU to throw the price down. A perfect plan to let the computer burn down just after the warranty period. This. A million times. A single overvoltage can fry half your components in a second. An instable voltage will stress your components much harder, lowering their lifespan. Also a quality higher power PSU will have lower current usage than a low-level, because PSU are anything but efficient when they are running near, or over, their limits. They will also be cooler.1 point

I'm making my Advanced checklist that you will be able to find on the ED forums when the game is released. And I found one small mistake in the video, at first you say you switch the IFFCC to the ON position after switching ON the CICU. You actually set it to the TEST position. Later on in the procedure, after starting the stopwatch, you set it to the ON position. But damn this sim looks amazing. Teasing? Don't you know what i'm brewing on right here? :D Anyway, nice find though, hadn't seen those! And by looking at many of the shots, i'll see if i can try to "replicate" some of them. ;)1 point

Nope. Think of Touchbuddy as a 'virtual, programmable' USB keyboard with an unlimited set of keys. All it does is send keyboard commands to the game - no different than programming you HOTAS. Its just done graphically instead of physically. I have a rotated 17" sitting between two Thrustmaster MFDs, running in client(local)/server mode via TCP/IP - works fine, and its a lot of extra space I use for other things as well.1 point

#37. The Wingwalkers came in while the commentator was telling a story about Barnstormers #38. What would be going through the girl's minds? #39. Nice lines :) #40 + #41. The Norwegian DC-3 Dakota flew a very nice display #42 + #43. While the DC-3 was still flying, this Morane-Saulnier started its display #44 + #45. Mass-takeoff for the Balbo formation at the end of the show I don't have any decent pictures of the Balbo itself, since the lens I had on my camera was too big for this kind of formations. But a mass formation with 24 warbirds is a very impressif sight (and sound!) #46. A Spitfire leaves the runway as the Buchon is coming in to land #47. This Spitfire was parked along the taxiway (overheated engine?) while the Mustangs come in overhead #48. It can get quite hot in the cockpit with this kind of weather #49. After the show the two Dutch DC-3s went back to Rotterdam One thing is certain: I will be back next year!1 point

Part 2: #18 + #19. TFC's newly restored Bearcat #20. Finally an F-4U Corsair without Red Bull markings #21 + #22. Although it's a regular visitor at other European shows, this Ju-52 is always a nice sight #23. The P-51s started to get a bit boring, after flying the same figure of eight time and time again #24. Fortunately this B-17 'Sally B' came in to stir things up a bit #25. The P-51s left the B-17 on its own for too long, resulting in the loss of two engines #26. But in the end all was well again :) #27 + #28. The 'Russian Hour', with a Yak-3UA One of the highlights of the show was a Polikarpov I-16 'Rata' #29. The gear has to be manually retracted, which takes ages ... #30. But when it is finally up, the I-16 can go quite fast #31. Unfortunately it didn't show its full potential, only some lazy turns an some rolls #32 + #33. Forward visibility while flying the I-16 is poor, but on the ground the pilot is completely blind #34 + #35. Here are some British biplanes, can't remember what types (I'm more into jets than props...) #36. The Battle of Britain Memorial Flight can't miss this show1 point

Maybe you know this documents, but for sake of completeness they are mentioned here. 2 docs with lots of useful stuff: F-16 manual with tons of graphics: Flight formations, Air-to-Air, Air-to-Ground, Air Refueling,... http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ac/docs/16v5.pdf Close Air Support doctrine. Lots of schematic diagrams. http://www.fas.org/irp/doddir/dod/jp3_09_3.pdf Enjoy. [edit]: i know I had one with detailed instructions for a-10 pilots, for example rescue commands in conjunction with choppers. There were images how to fly around the choppers in order to protect them. Can't find it right now. Anyone remember the doc, the link?1 point

A-10A Flight Manual and other documents Several documents I could find on A-10 (mostly A model). First one I found on Narod.ru website, I have reshared it since link barely works. Others are freely available on various websites. A-10A Flight Manual and performance data (TO 1A-10A-1 and TO 1A-10A-1-1). Large file (330 MB) A/OA-10--AIRCREW TRAINING, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-2A/OA-10, VOLUME 1 A/OA-10--AIRCREW EVALUATION CRITERIA, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-2A/OA-10, VOLUME 2 A/OA-10--OPERATIONS PROCEDURES, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-2A/OA-10, VOLUME 3 AIR OPERATIONS RULES AND PROCEDURES, AIR FORCE INSTRUCTION 11-214 Joint Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures for Close Air Support (CAS), JP 3-09.3 A-10A Guide For LOMAC, Strike Fighters: Project 1, Wings Over Europe A-10s over Kosovo (complete e-book) Enjoy.1 point
