Dedicated to the community, V1.7 of my Editor MOD is available here: Lockon User Files and here: STP Forum (please hit "Refresh" if you see the old image) By installing this MOD the following features are added or changed in BS Mission Editor Coalitions Now you can change coalitions at any time. Click on the new coalitions icon to open the coalitions dialog. Trigger Editor Newly created trigger objects will be inserted into the trigger list behind the currently selected trigger item - not at the end anymore. In trigger dialog, there now are arrow buttons at the top of each listbox, so you can move the currently selected item one position up or down within the list. The new "CLONE" buttons below each of the lists create a deep copy of the currently selected trigger, rule or action and insert it behind the selected element. Changed the width of the two trigger edits "Name" and "Type" to enhance readability. If this proves to be helpful other edit box widths could be changed as well in future releases In trigger dialog, there now are two rule lists that are AND or OR combineable. The two modes ((OR) AND (OR)) and ((AND) OR (AND)) can be selected by pressing the new buttons "(A) AND (B)" and "(A) OR (B)" between the lists. It's up to you to leave one list empty. Existing missions created in older or unmodded installations are compatible and can be edited without limitations. Missions containing AND/OR triggers are runtime compatible with unmodded hosts. Unit List The new button "CLONE" creates a deep copy of the currently selected unit group including waypoints, targets, target categories, units, their payloads and liveries. The new buttons "SHOW ALL", "HIDE ALL" and "TOGGLE" work like their counterparts in the trigger list dialog but only the visible list elements are affected. So, using the filters, you can selectively show or hide groups of elements or toggle between them. Map View This MOD features <51>Case's "bearing bugfix"; Thank you Case! Missions created and edited using ModdedME run on unmodded installations too. Missions created with an older or unmodded version can be edited without restrictions. Use ModMan to install. For further details you can visit http://spare-time-pilots.de/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=543 or post your questions here. Version history V1.7 NEW: in trigger dialog every listbox now has arrow buttons to move list entries up or down within the list NEW: in trigger dialog every listbox now has a button "CLONE" that inserts a copy of the selected item NEW: in trigger dialog there now are 2 rule lists (A and B) and two buttons "(A) OR (B)" and "(A) AND (B)" that allow different logical combinations of rule items NEW: contains <51>Case's bearing bugfix. Thank you Case! FIX: Hammer (STP) and Pat01 (eagle.ru) found out, that liveries of aircraft are not copied for cloned items, what is now fixed. Thanks Pat and Hammer! INFO: Cloning units moves the first waypoint a few hundred meters away from it's original position to prevent "ghost objects" in map editor, but this could change the waypoint task. V1.6 NEW: coalitions can be edited at any time and for existing missions. FIX: button "duplicate" in units list now (at least partially) visible at horizontal screen resolution of 1280px V1.5 FIX: bug in trigger duplicate function caused groups of existing triggers to change their type when a clone's type was changed FIX: airfield information was missing of cloned groups that start on ramp V1.4 First public version.1 point

For some reason, I can't get enough of them so this is for those of us with in-cockpit complex. These aren't rules but I'd prefer to keep it military, any era, and preferably without music. I also prefer the camera pointing forward where HUD and panel can be seen but any angle will do. Let's start a library full of your best finds. My favorites so far: The end is a bit of an anti-climax. BDODPtvUUJQ eyGWzK4Gqgc k9vVzFKSHHQ&feature YseNtrdzNOM&feature Here's how to embed a youtube video in the forums... I am a beginner as I may have stated before. I find the whole approach of the manual to be from an experts perspective and I immediately get lost with acronyms, information overload and jargon. After reading parts of manuals and browsing the forum, here's my learning wish list. 1. Installation, Setup controllers, calibrate controllers, get a good starter profile for controller. 2. Learn the sim interface 3. Basic cockpit overview (basic) 4. Beginners flight manual 4a. Basic instrument systems, explanation for each instrument, how to use them 5. Starting the a10 (good video already exists) 6. Create a basic mission 6a. Take off from runway 6b. Take off from hangar, including startup, taxiing etc 6c. Repeat the above at night 7. Create a basic mission (take off, land at neighbor airport) 8. Create a mission involving 3+ way points 9. Create a refueling mission 10. Create an array of emergency recovery missions 11. A guide to each system in the plane. e.g. Learn radios, learn radar, learn ILS etc. I would like to learn each system one by one and learn them well before I get exposed to acronyms, or multitasking etc. 12. Bring on the weapons / weapons systems This is a whole manual all in itself. Again from the above approach starting off with the basics, say just shooting the canon, and developing from there. How does this sound? Have I left anything out? Any advice as to how I would go about following this curriculum? Might this thread be of use to others? (hopefully) I would really welcome feedback, correction, advice or discussion here. I adore the sim, it looks awesome. It is a landmark achievement by DCS; But as a beginner to flight sims, (never mind weapons), I am just lost and feel almost intimidated by the manual - it makes me feel rather stupid.1 point

Just thinking out loud. I've been fiddling around with the mission generator and it's great, it'll be a stellar feature (brilliant stuff Nikolay). One of the best things of it is that all the code, as far as I know, is coded in Lua. Therefore that code could be called externally and generate missions, in theory. The point is, that you could code a slick mission script that based on the success or failure of the current mission and the events of it, generates a new mission with the mission generator Lua code and load it. The process would involve toying with this function parameters in MissionEditor\modules\me_generator.lua It's not the Dynamic Campaign Valhalla, but it could be an interesting way of generate random missions, with some relation with the previous mission. Think about the possibilities of a multiplayer server generating dynamically linked missions. If somehow, a droll like me, can think about coding this, what can't be done by inside coders? DC?1 point

I don`t know why "Screenshots thread" suddenly became "A-10C screenshot thread", but now there is no screens thread for FC2. :( Forgive me for the OT some FC2 screens following:1 point

Windows wont fill it completely, you can still play the SIm on it without filling it. I have LOMAC+DCS KA+DCS A10+StarcraftII and I still got 63GB free (120GB). :)1 point

Well everyone is getting in on doing something for this wonderful sim and since i have the time at the moment (made redundant but no great loss, I hated the job anyway :D) I thought I would work on some textures myself. As some may be aware, I love 'weathered look' skins and textures so here are some. Still working on new cockpit glass and here is the finished F16. I can't find the F5 canopy glass so if anyone can direct me, it would be appreciated. Now the new style fog settings and texture tweak. I have also done weathered texture for numerous weapons and missiles and I hope to put them all in a big package soon. Mizzy1 point

Strongharm and Frederf already covered the differences between technical manual and a training syllabus. ED manuals try to be both and in neither of cases they need 'flow'. The only 'flow' you need is the Table of Contents. Second: There will never be (at least I hope so) Newton's laws of motion in ED manuals placed there in the name of 'usability'. My best advice would be to accept it ASAP. What the author of the topic needed he can find in the manuals. What's not there it's right here - on the forums or in some training videos. Speaking of the forums importance. IMO moderators should hunt incorrect or even confusing 'advices' as eagerly as they hunt personal attacks and other not per the forum rules behavior. I'm eager to help out rookies but if someone starts a new topic :disgust: asking a question answered in one of the FAQs or before using the forum search AND pdf manual search functions AND reviewing the forums sections layout he may be quite sure I'll be on my way with hot and fresh negative reputation points. This much I can do, although that would be a nice option too ;)1 point

What`s with the rep hunting lately? Guys let`s not push the other members to give us rep. You give rep when you want not when somebody tells you to. Oh and btw those "free rep day" threads , they make the whole rep system pretty pointless.1 point

that makes lot of sense for new releases I can't personally afford to do that. And many are in similar state too i suppose.1 point

hello everybody. I just registered. I'm Kite from Italy . User of falcon af and now ka50 fan bought 2 mounths ago. my compliment to all dcs developers, really unbelivable sim! I have some question I hope someone can help. yesterday I had to disconnect completely the pc to connect new monitor. turn on the computer check for track ir if functioning... Not working. Ok wrong usb port... Insert in the correct one and have it working. Then I launched multiplayer ka50 and it gave me a new activation code (6 left) . What happen? Do I have to deactivate the old key ? anther question is for frame rate. I have a intel dualcore 2.8ghz with nvidia gforce9800gt . Resolution 1650-1050 cockpit RES 1024 and detail medium. Blur on ( I love this effect). I' m flying at an average frame rate of 10!! Is there something I have to set with nvidia or pc ? Some trick to do or it is normal ? I have updated the sim with the last patch. I have the register full of things . Smehing like 50 process open in the task manager at start up of win xp. Reduce this process could help? last last last thing is.. I know there are illumination rocket ( I remember s80-m??) that I found in the encyclopedia but not in the payload in misson editor. Have these rockets another name? thank you Kite1 point

I don't have the actual specs, but I'm sure I know someone that can find them if needed. I'm simply pointing the handle just far enough left to where it aligns with my forearm while it's resting on my thigh. It's about comfort and ergonomics to me... Let us know how the Obutto does with the HOTAS Warthog! I'm eyeing one myself - but I'm curious/concerned about the mounting brackets. Are they steady enough? (...and I mean they need to be ROCK SOLID, like you could smash your toes into one getting out of the pit and your toe would break before the stick base moves)? Also, how customizable is the center mount position (lateral, up/down, fore/aft etc. - I want my stick comfortable between my legs with thigh support, not more than 6-7 inches in front of my Randy Johnson, which means the mount needs to be able to be positioned very close to the front of the seat and lowered). Looking forward to some info when you get your Obutto, and if you want the true A-10C angle I'll try to find out for you...1 point

Of course. Just buy me a copy of DCS W and I'm on it! :P No. Just click on the folders to navigate to files. Then click on each file name to download it. No waiting, no registering. In fact I keep all kind of DCS related files there and the only thing I had to do was to register for a free account. But note that free mediafire account is not intended for file storage. Not intended but it works for me so far :)1 point

A lot of time asking for landing help will give you a serious landslide of info. Patterns, overhead break, ILS, etc. are all fine things to know but can distract and overwhelm one from the core practice of safely putting tires to tarmac. Breaking down the landing into its basic components you have: Approach Final Flare & Roll Approach is all that fancy stuff one does to transition from en route flight to final approach. One could write whole books about the many ways this can or should be accomplished. Final is the path from the end of the initial approach to the flare point. Defining characteristics of final are: aligned with runway, constant speed, landing configuration, constant decent slope. Flare is the process of transitioning from final to the runway surface, usually only a few tens of feet above the surface as you pass over the threshold. The roll is what you do after touchdown until you are slow enough to transition to typical taxi behavior. The simplest approach would be something like 10nm from the airport along the extended runway center line, 2000' above the runway surface, roughly 200 kts, and in the clean configuration. From this position the runway will appear ahead as a vertical line somewhere slightly below the horizon. As you fly toward the runway at 2000' the runway will appear to drop visually. As the near end of the runway moves to -3° visually (3/5ths of the way between the horizon line and the -5° ladder rung on the HUD), lower the flaps and drop the gear. Place the TVV on the near end of the runway. You've now established yourself on a 3° glide scope which will fly you right to the near end of the runway. While keeping the TVV on that spot through any necessary adjustments, add or decrease power until the v o ^ angle of attack symbols illuminates only the "o" symbol. Now you are on the correct path to the runway and the airplane is in the correct attitude for landing. Fly this picture until you are about a wingspan above the runway surface at the flare point. If you continued flying the final approach picture onto the runway, you would impact the ground where the TVV was pointed and at whatever vertical descent rate the final was at. The aircraft would probably survive but it would be rough. To soften the landing you want to reduce the descent rate to nearly zero as you near the runway. To do this simply pitch up slightly to walk the TVV symbol toward the far end of the runway. As you do this relax the throttle to idle (full back). As the main wheels touch, set the nose wheel onto the runway and apply the brakes.1 point
