Seems like everyone is getting into a he said / she said / he said post it's turned into one huge pi**ing contest. Wags has to the best of my knowledge always given the up-dates, not Jim MacKonochie. I did'nt know that he was a Producer and I'm sure a lot of other people didnt. Wags post relating to B6 states testing starting on the 9th, (If the new build looks good we hope to release soon afterward), to me that means it is still in the beta stage not going "gold" or whatever you want to call it, and yet we are informed by Jim Mac who as far as I knew could have been an " imposter" is now giving updates and release dates. Just a suggestion ED let ONE PERSON do the PR then we wont get into the same situation again, as I stated to a moderator the other day we dont know who to believe, and as I also informed him to my personal knowledge at least 10 people who have purchased the option of DCS A10c have now totally removed it from their computers simply because of lack of decent support relating to issues with B4, and from what I have been told in emails they wont be purchasing any more components of the DCS series. To summerize: Let one person do PR and updates, so we know who to believe No doubt I'll PO someone with this post but I'm sorry, lack of information causes more problems to everyone.3 points

No - but then again, I have been a member of these boards for close on 5 years now already - I am used to how things work and how things are done. With that said, I can fully understand how you as a new member do find it strange. However, what I have an issue with is the manner in which the issue has been addressed by newcomers to these boards, akin to stumblin' in, all fists flailing in a valiant attempt to land a punch, rather than taking the time and enquiring in a mature, courteous and civil manner. We old-timers are more than ready, willing and able to help/assist. If someone however bull-dozes their way in demanding immediate gratification......Well then you gotta be prepared to take your lumps. Again, I can sympathise, but this is a niche market with it's own unique ways and mannerisms. Learn our ways before poking us in the eye: That way we both remain unhurt and all is well :)3 points

I can almost feel like ED programmers feel. As a computer programmer, I know that when you're in the end of a development strange things come to light, and then you're supposed to be fighting against the work you had and the new work that's raising. It is a typical situation, and with a very hard software development like a simulation, remember, a very, very complicated development, all the cards seem to fall. That's the point when you take a breathe, a pizza, and then you put some music on and start working all night long. I'm just impressed with DCS: A-10C, I didn' feel something similar since Falcon 4 in 1998. I just want they finish their work, no matter when they release it, but I want it, and they want it, in optimal conditions.2 points

ED decided to do the "A" instead of the "C" cause you all have been pissing them off. Now those "minor" changes will need some time. Thank you for your understanding and patience! :D2 points

Since the other BETA 6 threads get closed and we're told: For the relevant Beta 6 discussion, see this thread: So I ask. WTFISGOINGON?? :D I think that we should at the *VERY LEAST* get a weekly update, rather than the current way is going. But being told nothing and having these nervous nelly mods (or attitudy judy if you prefer) go around closing threads and acting like we should be killed in our sleep for asking whats happening. A simple weekly post saying 'yeah its not done yet, sorry' would be better than nothing at least we could all COUNT and wait on that, instead of having no friggen idea at all whats going on. I also think the mods here really, really need to perhaps unplug, go outside and check out the graphics available in real life they're awesome then maybe you'd chill out a bit and stop pissing off the paying customers (most of us go out of our way to involve new people into this, I myself have hooked 2 friends who previous to this LOL'd at the idea of spending so much time just starting a plane... now its all we talk about) Though personally I do smile in real life when I see a MOD going all ape-%$#@-ola over someone posting something they don't like. Grow up please. Or at the very least one of you go full blown psycho and end up on youtube for all of us to watch (and post in the beta 6 thread)... that would be awesome! BTW, love this and BlackShark, and most of the community... Just getting annoyed at the lack of information, and the general attitude of the mods.2 points

Not . even . one . chuckle. -1 rep? I've come to the conclusion that I've lost my limited sense of humor. My fans from the past, who have most likely dwindled recently due to my array of Hoff pictures and videos, will note that I did go out trying to spend the rest of my ordinance.2 points

I changed the labels.lua file to just display a small dot for all the ground targets and got rid of all of the naming convention, etc. You still know where they are but without all of the extra info.2 points

I used to use these all the time in Falcon 4, so I decided to make one up for DCS A-10C. It's attached below. Hope you enjoy it. Edit: added a few things and expanded some abbreviations where possible for those not so familiar. Edit 2: I attached the cold start checklist I made up, it also has things from the Beta 2 manual that I thought I would want quick access to. Edit 3: Mission Data Card changes; added elevation for airbase data squares, added TGP laser designator code as well as GBU laser designator code....cause nothing sucks worse than dropping a GBU that did not have a matching laser code with the TGP! Also color in the PRI/SEC target boxes, and last, dedicated Lat/Lon UTM coordinate boxes for JTAC target locations. Edit 4: JTAC section additions, misc changes. Edit 5: Cold Start Checklist updated to Final Release parameters. Edit 6: Cold Start Checklist revised, now Version 2. Edit 7: Mission Data Card now provided in A5 Format as well as 8.5X11 Look for A5 at the end of file description for A5 version. Edit 8: Cold Start Checklist added Environmental Controls, now Version 3. Edit 9: External Light activation was moved post APU GEN start. Version 4.

Cathode ray tube, actually, not a laser. Less commonly - LCD matrix. I do not know any deflector to work with thin laser ray and the field of view as modern HUDs have. The cathode ray tube is in focal plane, so the image will be in eternity. So the pilot could see the outside world and the hud sharp without reaccommodating his eyes. And if you move your head half a meter forward eternity will remain eternity.;)1 point

Just leave it. If people don't know who Jim is, they can either check his account here on the forum (ooooh!), or they can check the credits in the game(s) (wow!), or they can open the manual and see the credit list (amazing!). This is not complex guys. Stop making mountains off of a sand-grain. I know this is the internets but seriously, stop going 4chan on my turf or I'll start putting force behind my words.1 point

I think this update is still valid. They are making a new beta because the previous one had too many problems. When they get a good build they will release it. I think we all created expiration dates in our heads because the updates of the past were almost on a regular basis. I'm sure ED loves their customers as much as we love them, and when they do release the next build everyone will be happy again. So party on with beta 4, or 3 if you like. Kick on the TARS and blow up bad guys while landing your ventilated hog back home. The next build is getting polished to perfection, and day is bringing us closer to the next best thing. :D1 point

Do you not read the relevant posts in the Forum? That's your opinion, however misguided it is. My opinion would be that weekly updates are unnecessary, especially having regard to the recent announcement. At most, monthly announcements would be more than reasonable. Then again, that's my opinion. Oh you are told plenty - some just prefer to be selectively perceptive to what is said it seems. We cannot spoon-feed all of the people all of the time.....it gets tedious. How many times has it not been repeated that work is ongoing on a daily basis. Builds are released and tested and modifications made and bugs reported and rectified.....Brings us back to the selective hearing principle it seems. As for having 'no friggen idea', well, I'd endeavour to pay more attention - certainly will enlighten. Abide by the Forum rules and us mods will not be necessary. Alas, that seems unfortunately unattainable at present. Maybe some of your own advice finds applicability here: Maybe you should really, really need to perhaps unplug, go outside and check out the graphics available in real life they're awesome then maybe you'd chill out a bit and stop pissing off the Mods by your comments - Just a thought mind you.1 point

That is completely and utterly wrong. The HUD being focused to infinity is the most integral part to visual aiming. Just see freefalcon and how porked CCIP is if your head is not at the exact standard spot in the 3d pit. THAT is a huge PITA. There is no way for the HUD to show you the correct aiming solution if it is not focused to infinity. Jeesh. Do some research plz.1 point

In short, yes it will fit in your motherboard PCI-E slot as they are both PCI-E cards. You should check also if this card will fit in your case as card is very long, check for reviews on the HD6970 and how long it is and measure how much space your have in your case (also pay attention to where the PCI-E power sockets are located on the card as if they are on the rear of the card that requires more space behing the card).1 point

ED - With due respect to your patience with people like this, I truly think it would set a good precedent if you would ban this guy and revoke his software license. I certainly don't want to meet someone like this in the sky in multi-player.. he's a danger to himself and... himself. I prepped the document: beagleass867 You sir, are paying for the privilege to enjoy the product of their hard work, which hasn't even been released yet, so you should feel extra special. Do you write Movie Directors and demand Angelina Jolie show more cleavage? (I wish someone would .. but never mind that!) You don't have to fly DCS, and you certainly don't have to INVEST in their company. What kind of fool would invest time and money in something they have so little respect for? I know you're frustrated.. but doesn't this sound a little more like you? : ED, great work! I'm enjoying this sim for several hours a day instead of taking my medication or compulsively masturbating. I should take a break for a while and catch up on one of those two things... can't remember which. I found myself getting angry that the update wasn't yet available, but don't worry, I took it out on my neighbors cats instead of you. I DO want to encourage you to continue to make spectacular breakthroughs in simulator technology. Anyway, great job and remember, beware the cheese marmoset.1 point

Thank you Mustang. I'm glad SOMEONE is interested in explaining the poor communication with us. We're not just the pathetic masses of gamers anymore, ED. Like it or not, we are now your INVESTORS. I'm sorry though, none of what is in your link was repeated in the "Beta 6 update" thread. So, what it all comes down to again, is poor communication from ED, and this time its with people who are PAYING for their ongoing development. I did a quick Google search on this today, and do you know what I found? I found somebody giving a rather detailed account of what will be fixed in Beta 5. Yet, in his next post on that forum, he goes on to say that he doesn't even have this program installed on his computer. Yet, he's providing "technical support" for those of us who do? Sorry Mustang. Not a dig against you. But does nobody else see it as a little screwed up that somebody cheerleading for this latest release hasn't even invested his own money and time into any of it yet? :music_whistling:1 point

1080p, aka 1920x1080 is fine for this sim (or any game for that matter) but computers unlike consoles are capable of displaying far greater resolutions than that. a "full HDTV" will never live up to what a computer monitor LCD can display with current technology. Computer LCD's have been "HD" long before 720 / 1080p came about, and now they are "beyond HD".1 point

Yeah... I'm not sure if I should bother trying to respond to that. There's a pretty easy way to summarize (in the words of James Randi): WRONG. Cayenne: TFC is the publisher of DCS: A-10C. Your conspiracy theory is funny to read, but not quite chemtrail level. And pretty important: italicizing a line like that is a common method of indicating editorial additions: did you consider that maybe it was games.on.net that asked mindscape? (But what do I know, I only spent ~4 years working as a computer game critic.) Err, let's see - oh yeah, military contract are probably not quite as lucrative as you think they are. They're most likely Cost+, which is a recipy that allows low risk of losses but not a lot of profit. One really nice thing with them though is that they allow a lot of knowledge transfer, which makes things like DCS:A-10C possible. ED is busy making a game (in case you haven't noticed), and since users were very fast in linking it 300 times (since no-one uses the search function)... What gain would there be in doing it yet again? As for being aware of testing schedules and being on the same books... Come on Cayenne? Try doing some elementary research on people's job titles. A look in any random manual will do. There's a lot of people involved and none of them are God. So The only thing that smells funny is your ability to take a whole load of misunderstood lines of text and spin it into a fantastic conspiracy theory. Phew. And the only reason I bothered spending the time to respond to all of that is that there is a risk someone might take that stuff seriously. Why does it always take longer to explain why something is wrong than it takes to say things that are wrong? I'm going to go watch a docu on nuclear weapons to chill my nerves now. :P1 point

You're not listening. I'm not kidding when I say a millionth of an FPS. I'd be very surprised if it saved you even a hundredth of an FPS. And having it visible does NOT add lines of code. Having it removable DOES however add lines of code - potentially quite a few of them, since it requires a brand new functionality (that of removing cockpit elements). That is a whole new function, and a lot of development work. So to put it like this: having it removable through a toggle would, if anything, probably make your FPS worse instead of better.1 point

lottu 1.3.2 released This version changes the operation of the "Generate TacView on playback" button to do the following: * Alter Config\Export\Config.lua to set EnableExportScripts to true or false as needed (earlier versions of lottu already did this), and * Alter Config\Export\Export.lua to add or remove the "dofile()" include for the Tacview 0.95b script "TacviewExportDCS.lua" white preserving the correct whitespace and no newline at end-of-file (required to pass exoprt.lua Integrity Check on servers such as the 104th, 51st, etc). This should make generating Tacview ACMI files from tracks easier without having to manually add and remove the "dofile()" include - which could result in Integrity Check fails. Credit Thanks to AldoUSMC for posting about this. This prompted this change. Downloads Download lottu 1.3.2 from the following links: * lottu-1.3.2.exe (1.1 MB) - most people should download this. * lottu-1.3.2_debug.exe - a version with a logging console. Useful if you are having problems getting lottu to run. * lottu-1.3.2.jar (631 kB) - a pure Java 1.6 version of lottu. Can be run on Windows, Mac, Linux etc. Allows track file to be manipulated, although tracks can only be played back (and Tacview ACMI files generated) on Windows. Note: all versions of lottu required Java 1.6 or later to run. You can obtain the Java Runtime Environment as a free download from http://www.java.com For older versions of lottu and more information about it please see the following page: http://stallturn.com/wiki/en/lottu1 point
