  1. Sorry guys, I'll start first by saying if this post offends anyone then apologies, but it's something I feel I need to say. Quite frankly I'm shocked by some of the posts that are being directed at Ed on here. These Guys and Gals have been working hard, to bring us a fantastic Sim world. Not only have they given time and effort to provide us with one of the best helicopter sims we have ever seen on a home pc. They then turned Round and gave us the best sim I've ever see, the wonderful A10 Warthog. Now not only are they spending time and effort to produce us yet another amazing aircraft, yet to be announced, but we do know it's coming. But not only that, they have also given us a stunning P51 and turned round and made a true effort, to finally bring us one complete world, to allow us to fly all the different aircraft together. Not to mention, the ground units they also producing while all this is going on. But how do some of us at home thank them. No thanks no well done, No we turn round and complain that the FREE aircraft provided dosnt have a clickable cockpit, or Moan because they can't read our minds and pull our dream aircraft out of a hat. Or even moan about them wasting their time producing ww2 aircraft when we have no idea what the long term plan or even resources are. Is it just me, who thinks we should be greatful for whatever turns up. Producers are going away from the pc as it is. We have precious few developers happy to provide us with stunning sims as I'm sure theres not that much money in it. Most places just want a quick buck so just push out tried and tested games. Here we have a producer who not only can produce some of the best sims we have ever seen. They are one of the best teams to communicate with their fans, rather than ignore the forums. So come on guys and gals, while I appreciate those that are vocal in their moaning are in the minority here. I really don't think we have anything to moan about. We need to see just how lucky we are in the way we are treated by Ed. They are like I said one of the best customer focused teams out there. So please rather than complain that our FREE aircraft isn't 3D or your favourite aircraft isn't being produced or even if you don't want to fly aircraft from a certain time frame. Instead of biting the hand that feeds you, take a step back and see what the potential is. If you don't like a said module, well no one is forcing you to buy it. However if you want to support Ed then, buy it and treat the cost as an investment. Hell I don't think I've flown 60% of the aircraft I've bought for ROF. But I love the potential so I invest in the company. Just the same way I do for Ed. So Ed from me, may I say a Hugh thanks to the entire team, and please keep up the great work, although it may not seem it at times. It is appreciated. And for those still here, thanks for sitting and reading this slight rant. Just needed to get it out there. Cheers for listening. Cowboy10uk

  2. I dont want to scream"epic fail", but I feel the su-25 2d cockpit is very sad. In a world that is moving to all 3d crap, how do you justify doing that. To start things, I'd like to say that I've owed dcs-bs since the begining. I love it alot, even though its a rusian piece of shit, the game is awesome. But with the dcs world, I cant believe that you have a 2d non clickable cockpit. I kinda get the fact that building a 3d clickable cockpit for a aircraft you have had ingame for many years is kinda backtracking. But, HOLY CRIST, even falcon4 bms has dropped the 2d shit. Listen, its hard enough to learn the aircraft cuz of how realalistic you guys are making them. But to have to learn that ctrl/alt/shft R turns on the radar I just spent 10 hours to learn how to use is just to much. Clickable cockpits are the way of the future (and the way of the past). Plz get your shit together and stop with crap like that. The only reason most ppl move to DCS sims is the fact that your last couple of games have been top of the line. But if you think that by giving a free aircraft with old crappy non clickable cockpits is going to get you any customers. I will say flat out, "I think your wrong". Now i understand that its just a filler ac, and its free. But what the hell. I play dcs bs for the clickability. I dont have to learn the instruments and the keybinding, just the instruments. Thats why dcs a-10 was such a hit. Ppl moved from Lomac fc2 to the same ac, but without all the unnessesary crap cuz you when all out on the playablility (clickable cockpits). I know I come off very strong.I would like to say I am a faithful fan. But slimming down the ac (fc2 no longer compatible with a-10 and bs) and releasing more 2d crap (in a 3d world) is just going the wrong way. I hope you have grand plans for the future. I cant wait to move from BS2 to DCS World in my BS. But till then a 2d su-25 pit that I have to memorize 300 keybinds for cuz you dont want to go all out,...well, I'm just not going to do it....I dont think that your plans....I think you just did it to give new ppl something to do.....but...idk.... just venting my opinion...not trying to talk to much trash, just hate 2d pits, if I wanted that I would go play....idk...everyone are doing 3d pits nowofdays....even falcon4 has full clickable 3d pits with the BMS addon.... Having said all that plz keep up the hard work, the DCS series is the best combat sim to date (was alot better when all the planes from FC2 were included in the MP compatibility). And plz make a AH-1 or AH-64 game for us helo sim guys. The KA-50 is a piece of crap (kinda what makes the game fun). But us good ol' american boy cant wait for the day we get a DCS chopper. Hell even a cobra with tow missiles would kick the hell out of a ka-50.

  3. Listen up you primitive screwheads <3 :D This is what this sort of thing costs in the current market. This isn't 1998 where everyone and their mother was lining up at Circuit City and Babbage's (remember those places?) to buy flight sim themed games. ED has the benefit of having a development team in a part of the world where payscales aren't inflated like they are in the US metro areas, and they have the benefit of having a group of highly qualified people testing it for free (We have at least one tester with over 2,000 flight hours in military aircraft). When I fly for real it costs me over 100 USD for less than two hours of flight time. I can play any of ED's high fidelity representations of highly advanced aircraft that I'll probably never have a chance to log time in for real for a one-time fee. It's really not that bad when you look at it from that perspective. I realize the ongoing changes to the game plan has been frustrating for many people, as well as the recurring need to purchase additional modules and games. However, there really isn't much of a choice here. Nobody can be asked to work for free--you will all benefit from this in the long run.

  4. Yes, but the reply to that is you should remember to never let little things like a lack of information or the the facts get in the way of a good enraged rant about the poor quality of the free gift you've just been given...

  8. Good job stating that opinion politely! That is how it should be done. One day maybe a free, fully-simulated module could eventually be made, of a fairly simple aircraft. Maybe DCS: An-2 Colt? :D Yea, that would be good. If you only have DCS: An-2 Colt, then you are forced to fly supply flights for the new dynamic supply system announced for FC3. Say RIPTIDE spams so many AMRAAMs that Krymsk runs out of them. It would now be your job, as an An-2 pilot who didn't buy any actual modules, to fly in some new ones for him from the regional AMRAAM distribution center at Mozdok :)

  9. Hah! I cant really move my monitor beneath as I use the same rig for work during daylight hours an a screen there would be no use. out of interest though how did you mount your cougar MFDs to the screen? Particularly what are you using to support them at the corner thats actually over the screen rather than the bezel? I've wondered about doing that on my setup but couldnt come up with a decent way to mount them.

  13. Wings of Russia Rules You have never watched the Discovery/History/Military channel etc etc and it's 1001 documentaries on how the M1 Abrams is the "best tank in the universe EVER!!1!"? Oh and how the USA won WW2. Cant' forget that one... That Wings of Russia series was like a breath of fresh spring air to me. It's sickening to think that there are such fantastic documentaries on Russian hardware that we never get to see in the west, except now thanks to the internet.

  15. Nothing is being "copied" at all, least of all BF3. BF3 or Aces High were not even close to the first games to use that concept. What you speak of (multiple types of human controlled aircraft flying in the same mission) is already possible with 1.1.1.1, the "core" doesn't change that at all. So again, no, you don't understand the concept. No it doesn't. Because you don't HAVE to update DCS:World with P-51D or vice versa, it just so happens that updates for both have been released to the public at the same time on two occasions. Yes, it has.

  16. Haha, allright. The attitude indicators in aircraft will, like any gyro, drift over time. To counter this, mechanisms are included which turn the attitude indicators to align with local gravity. Usually aircraft fly level most of the time, so this works well. The exception is when you remain in a turn for a long period of time, when the gyro will start aligning itself with the aircraft rather than the horizon. Stay in the turn long enough, and the gyro will indicate level - only to indicate a turn the other way when you return to flying straight ahead. This is usually not modelled in simulators, as it is an effect rarely seen.

  17. This will bring another problem at Jiblets setup - because the Map view (F10) has the info-bar including buttons at the top. So moving the camera-view to the bottom will trigger other problems... There is a way to do this - but it is very complicated and has do be done for each setup in a different way, so its not worth the hassle if there are more convenient ways like to do it with SoftTH. Jiblet! I gathered enough info from your postings to simulate your set-up. I assume you are using a 64bit OS and the left Monitor is set as your "primary/Main screen" in windows properties. This following files and instruction will cure your problem and also enable you to run DCS in fullscreen. As I know nothing about your GPU/CPU , it might higher also your overall frames - if not - it sure should enable you to set the eye-candy one or two notches up without seeing a drop in performance. Unzip the attached file and follow the instructions of the included "Read This.txt": Btw : to disable SoftTH : simply delete/rename the "d3d9.dll" in the bin folder e.g. "d3d9.dll_off" @ all others you sure can download and study my files/edits , but don't expect that this will work for you if your setup don't matches the one of Jiblet.

  18. They are heavy and the propellant is not so effective as modern types. So you must use rockets in steep diving 30-45 deg and add gravity drop correction aiming through bottom of fixed reticle or even through engine cowling top :) It's a matter of training though.

  20. Hi guys. I have good news for all. I've tested the servman in DCS world, and it works perfectly, :pilotfly: Now with commands like, "/Load x mision" or " /Vote x mision" the server doesn't crash, and change the mission. I Had to create a new folder in C:\dcsworld\missions\multiplayer because it didn't exist in the original installation. I'm so happy today :D

  23. Perhaps there will be someone skilled who would make full 3D cockpit of 25T. Great Su-25A has already been done by member of the forum (OnePride): Su-25T is mostly similar to 25A cockpit, add TV, move RWR (add perhaps Pastel, Kopyo if needed for T\TM version), change some dials, and so on... voila.

  24. That would be great fun, if an even number of friends is online. And if they have time to fly when you want to... if if if if... What I like about the single seaters is the fact that you can fly whenever you want and if friends happen to be online at the same time you can do a nice co-op mission. In a two-seater, your flight hours depend on your friend and vice versa.

  28. I'm glad! People started talking about the concept of two seaters! That is a good start. Let's talk about how these are implemented in other games/sims, where two seater are available in single player and multi-player modes. Personally I know two games/sims where two seaters are/were available. Those are: BF2/3 and ARMA I/II. In BF series, two seaters are available only in MP (BF2), or are heavily scripted for single campaign such as one in BF3, which if you ask me "sukcs". Why? Well, simply because you can not make any choices of your own... You like an animal in the slaughter house, walking to the only one possible end... Which, IMHO, is NOT why we're talking about the two seaters in the first place. Two seater is all about team up (COOP) with mates or someone we don't know for the common cause, where you can talk about the strategies and techniques on to how to achieve the common goal TOGETHER. The bond between two people, the survival of whom depends on each other. So, back to BF two seaters. In MP you can either be a pilot or the "gunman"... Or both. Yeah, there are some who can do both. Anyhow, let's talk about the COOP, "two homo sapiens". One as a pilot, another as a gunman. You can't swap places if two players are in the helicopter at one given time. You either can swap on the ground, one at the time, or in the air, if one of the two is KIA or MIA* (*- Happens when one leaves or gets disconnected from the server). Meanwhile, while both are alive and kicking, everyone of them sticks to the primary functions "pilot carries gunman around the battlefield, gunman engages the enemy". Similar structure applied for fast movers two seaters in BF2 (F-15E, SU-34). Now let's see how two seaters implemented in ARMA series. ARMA approached the two seaters more professionally, they added AI as a second pilot/gunner for the single or multi-player gaming. Nice try, but you don't really want AI to be a pilot Anyhow, AI as the gunner... Well, as soon as the target is spotted by AI, pilot can order AI gunman to engage the target of the choice. Or AI gunman will engage the targets of opportunity if ordered to "Fire". Any vehicles or flyable needs to be "locked" by the pilot prior the the issuing the order for AI gunman to "Engage". ARMA also allow the pilot to override AI gunman and take control of the gunman function while piloting the heli. IMHO, it's effective if using guided weapons only. Now lets talk about what kind of twoseater concept we could use in DCS series. DCS, for some reason, beyond my understanding, focuses mostly on single player campaigns. Me and my mates were always wondering why there is no COOP campaigns, you can't even have your wingman in the same group, so all the waypoints and targets applies to both or all, who are in the same group. Primary point of two seater for me is to be able to team up with my mate for COOP on LAN, or ONLINE gaming, where you learn to work as a one unit (team) and be effective on the battlefield. So concept here is pretty straight forward. The real question is what the AI copilot should be like in the SP? The way I see it it should be similar to what the wingman is now. Where you can issue the order to scan for the threats, engage them, basic maneuvers over the battlefield etc... What do you think guys?

  29. ^ I just can't make myself watch videos with such irritatingly arrogant and self praising commentary. That's why I hate Russian "documentaries", because they make even 20 year old craps look like the most advanced weapons that are "ahead of their time" (see Ka-50 doc). Even my mom gets terribly irritated when she watches Russian TV and I have hard time keeping myself from correcting my dad when we have man talk about tech and stuff. :D But thanks to that I found a more down to earth and interesting clip about the engine tech of PAK FA! EDIT: Ok this one had a bit of bullshit too. :P http://www.airliners.net/photo/North-American-B-25J/2100817/L/

  33. I'm a bit confused why we have to have LOMAC (released in 2005 mind you) to install FC3 which is a totally different graphics engine. Why would I have to install a non compatible seven year old game to play FC3? I am just asking what is the mentality behind that? Does it have something to do with an agreement with Ubisoft? I just can not understand why you would need a seven year old piece of software to install a non compatible new piece of software. If FC3 offers a new airframe all is forgiven (not a specific one just one in general). Also of note.... I would love to see a FC combat helo (even a Black Shark)...... just saying.

  38. Mmm. I'd think something like an Apache would be more difficult than a F-18D in terms of player/AI communication. I say that because an F-18D can fly and probably fight without the input of the 2nd pilot, whereas the 2-pilots in the Apache have very distinct roles to fill and require a certain level of co-operation between them. So it would probably be best to start off with an aircraft that can be flown by a single pilot but has multiple seats which can all be used in MP and then slowly add in the functionality of the other seats for AI.

  39. I know it's carrying on the OT theme, but while on books, I can recommend 'Low Level Hell', about a Loach pilot in Vietnam. They complimented the 'Snakes' (Cobras) by flying around at low level (reeeeally low level, ie at infantry height) and getting shot at. A lot. It also shows again just how demanding simulating helo CAS on a PC can be, given that it's so fundamentally integrated into infantry operations.
