  1. I concur, 20fps loss with flat terrain shadows in 2.8 versus 2.7. Something is quite obviously very "broken *. Setting terrain shadows to *off" returns 2.7 VR FPS and frametimes, pretty much.
  2. I'm still seeing a drop of 10FPS with terrain shadows set to flat versus off.
  3. @Jenson That would be great, and much appreciated. Thanks for a great CoOp campaign!!
  4. Would you mind sharing your method? I too think they are OTT in 2.8
  5. Perhaps you need to do a little more reading before rejecting the suggestions you are given here, from people that are trying to help. You can lead a horse and all that....
  6. It has nothing to do with OpenXR. It offers an easy way to start DCS in 2D. Plus a host of other features. You appear to be looking for "problems", good luck on your quest.
  7. Skatezilla app... Google. Option to start DCS in 2D mode.
  8. Not sure what silliness you are referring to re OpenXR/OC, but regarding your second point...Skatezilla App...VR OFF, done null
  9. OK, tried again, and it appears to have worked, so I guess I foo barred the first three times
  10. Quite....not sure he's actually played DCS in VR 180FPS is excellent...damn right it is, and impossible
  11. Foxit PDF editor (free trial)
  12. Pulling my hair out trying to get this to work with this pit mod: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3302845/ I followed the steps above and also amended the description.lua these lines were already in there anyway: {"F-18C-mirror", 0, "mirrors",true}; {"f18c_cpt-displayglass", 0, "f18c_cpt-displayglass_refl", false}; {"f18c_cpt-displayglass", 13, "f18c_cpt-displayglass_refl_Roughmet", false}; {"map", 0, "mfd3", true}; But I still see the standard MFDs.
  13. Played the first mission with a friend last night, and really enjoyed it. The only suggestion I have is could we get the briefing info in the kneeboard please? It's really tricky in VR, especially remembering 8 sets of PP JDAM coords
  14. So I tried earlier, and didn't notice any additional shimmer in the menus, and the in game shimmer seems to be about the same (read not nice).
  15. Bizarre, I've not noticed an increase since the patch personally. Will jump on later and see if I can see the text shimmer issue. I'm using a Varjo Aero.
  16. Ah, in the menus? No, not normal agreed, generally in VR it's always shimmered in game, however.
  17. There's been constant shimmering in VR for years! It's certainly not new.
  18. That is a good point!! Pretty sure it was on, but sounds like exactly the symptom. Thank you!! Will check.
  19. So this is a very odd problem, I'll try and explain. Friend and I are playing in through the inferno, only human players, game hosted on my end. I'm in the front seat, he's in the back and both using VR. The issue goes like this: 1) HUD symbology starts to "double up" like there are two of everything. 2) HMD display starts to slowly fade to grey 3) HMD goes black 4) Eventually returns after a few seconds. Now this is important, it happens to BOTH of us at the same time, and we are using different HMD's. I'm using an Aero he's using a G2. This only appears to happen in the Tomcat. He had complained that it had happened to him before, whilst I was in the back seat, but I did not see the issue that time. However, last night it happened to both of us in unison. It is very odd! We are both on 2.8 latest OB (it happened in the previous 2.8 OB too). The only commonality is we are both using Open Composite and OXRTK. Anyone else experienced similar? Also, couldn't engage NWS from a cold start. But that's a separate issue.
  20. For me, no. Terrain shadows Flat still results in around a 20FPS loss in VR. So I'm staying with Off for the time being.
  21. Not noticed a performance decrease with todays patch, but very quick trial flight earlier. However I still have a circa 20fps decrease from 2.7 with terrain shadows set to flat, sooo still set to off at the moment. Somewhat disappointed tbh.
  22. Terrain shadows to anything other than off still seem to have a circa 20FPS performance impact in VR.
  23. It's a good point, and it is more "wobbly" than the TM base for example, however this has never been an issue for me personally. I did try the heavier springs, but they were way too much for me. I only really got AAR down once I had the WarBRD base.
