  1. aww I was hoping that someone would say they had a button to open the doors from the outside. Oh well i guess it doesnt make sense to go in forwards anyway. Actually now what would be cool is if a little tow truck (or whatever they are called) would take you back in.
  2. You won't need to install the steam version for DCS A-10C, you need only the key/serial number it gives you :)
  3. version 1.0 Urkranian pirates are smuggling counterfit copies of 2003's LockOn : Modern Air Combat to Central Europe. The blackmarket demand has peaked for this game since the release of the Flaming Cliffs 3 expansion which requires this ancient LOMAC game as a prerequisite, even though its not even sold anywhere anymore. As UBISOFT's top squad of international anti-piracy jet pilots - "Piracy ENgaging Interantional Squad" it is your job to protect the digital rights of the company, by intercepting cargo planes full burnt copies of LOMAC accompanied by low quality bubblejet printed black and white manuals. You are authorised to use lethal force if the smugglers do not respond to radio contact or if they do not obey landing orders. --------------- This is a 1-4 player mission, its just a bit of a fun warm up mission or good for showing a friend how to get started with Flaming Cliffs 3 Take one of the 3x F-15C or a SU-27 and shoot down the cargo planes. The mission will spawn 4 cargo planes for each player that joins (up to a total of 16 cargo planes). Simply destroy all cargo planes before they reach their destination, and then of course land safely :pilotfly: Good Hunting!:D Operation DRM.miz

  4. quick question - what range can I fire the aim120c from? according to wiki its got a 57nm range, but I only seem to ever get a splash when firing it from about 16-20nm. I also don't get a shoot cue until im this close too.
  5. does anyone know which Lock:On Modern Air Combat files are the ones FC3 checks for while installing? I'm thinking about doing a reinstall and i'd be really nice not to have to pull the disc out again. If I could just keep lomac.exe or whatever is needed a windows registry entry. I'd be much easier.
  6. I really think this new terrain engine will give this simulator the EDGE... OK i'm sorry :P
  7. I've recently purchased a touchscreen overlay -its pretty cheap at around $100AUD from China, for one specifically 23" size(they have a size for any screen - its from aliexpress.com). It straps on with velcro that goes all the way around your monitor so is very sturdy, and the overlay itself is thick and strong so you can bash away at it with your fingers no problems in the heat of the action :) The only hard part was taking the time to align exactly with the monitor so that your finger taps are accurate to the where you are tapping. But its easy enough if you get someone to help you hold it while you adjust the straps. It also has an unexpected side affect of making the monitor look a lot like a crt in terms of visual quality. it feels a lot more like an IPS screen now. The reason I did this is because you cant get any 120hz monitors capable of multitouch(at least non that I could find). It works really well with DCS:A-10C because you are able to get nice and close to the buttons when you lean forward with a TrackIR. One thing that does take a few days to get used to is however keeping your headstill while you reach forward with your arms other wise you can easily miss the button - especially if you aren't zoomed enough. But even still TrackIR with a touchscreen monitor is very cool, really does feel like you are pushing the buttons in the cockpit without building a cockpit yourself :)
  8. well im happy to swap my BS2 for a flaming cliffs 3 key :) PM me if interested I'm just too "special" to fly the shark :)
  9. my recommendation would be to disregard the manual, and learn in the following order. Either by youtube or the in game training. hot started: 1.take off 2.basic flight (if you dont know already what the stick/rudder/throttle does) 3.landing and I wouldnt worry if any of these are really rough, as long as you understand the concept of it all e.g. take-off = go fast and stay in a straight line, pull up at the right time. Edit: you will learn the hand dexterity and technique over time, no need to be a landing professional early on. 4. TGP - since this basically makes using every weapon really easy. I'd actually recommend the in game training for the TGP its pretty good - otherwise youtube of course :) Then choose whatever weapon you'd like to learn first - Mavericks and Bombs go really well with the TGP because you don't need to be a flying ace to use them accurately unlike the gun and rockets which take a little bit of target practice to get the dexterity and technique to an effective level. Once you can fly and blow stuff up, you'll have a pretty good understand of how the systems works on a basic level, and from there it is very easy to dig into the manual to get more detailed information or again look up specific youtube videos. I honestly think the manual is a waste of time for a beginner, for me there was way too much information, and because I have never really flown anything before, I could not understand why I was doing things because there was no context for me to imagine it in. But once I started flying I was able to look up and learn the bits I needed when I needed as I then had a good context to understand them in. (otherwise it is bit like trying to teach someone how to drive car when they don't even know what a car is, and is capable of). EDIT: the reason I'm mention youtube is that a lot of the tutorials don't get bogged down the acronymns and military/avionics terms, which made my brain hurt to begin with, SET THE TGP TO SOI THEN MARK AN SPI - *brain melts* sure it makes perfect sense now, but when you are starting off you really just want someone to say, click the targetting pod button and then hold the K button to take control of it, then move it to your target and hold leftCtrl+UP to make it a point of interest.
  10. I never even know those things were LED's! I was wondering what those 5 white dots were for.... But I guess there isn't much point in installing the TARGET software if they don't do anything.
  11. would be convenient apart from the training tracks being nearly as big as the game :P
  12. try this http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/myserials.php login when asked, and if it takes you somewhere else after login, just click this link again.
  13. We just ended up using this : http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/myserials.php login when asked, and if it takes you somewhere else after login, just click this link again. then simply click the UNBIND button next to which ever module you no longer want with your account. BTW make sure you have deactivated and uninstalled the module prior so you dont lose 1 of your 10 activations. so anyone else keen on swapping a FC3 for BlackShark 2? I hardly ever fly the shark and I have a mate that is out of work atm but would love FC3. Last but not least - thanks Leafer :)
  14. yes - this is how RTS games work - when your cursor gets close to the edges of the screen it will move the view. but otherwise the cursor can be used for selecting/clicking. no need for two modes
  15. ok leafer im replying to your pm - thanks everyone for reading :)
  16. Hey guys, I got the huey a few days ago - and its brilliant - its really brilliant:thumbup: So much detail. But I've come to realise that I don't enjoy flying choppers anywhere near as much as I enjoy flying modern planes (yes my lack of chopper flying skill does play a good part in this lol). So if anyone would like to swap DCS:HUEY for DCS: Combined Arms please PM me. I think its a good deal the Huey is $20 more that Combined Arms :)
  17. Dude with your setup - that huge CPU and huge videocard! you should be locking the frames at 60fps minimum! you have a beast of a pc good sir :)
  18. Surely it wouldn't actually be worse than a 6 year old AMD though. edit: especially when SkateZilla with basically the same system is getting what looks like a really smooth frame rate -
  19. Is it possible to separate modules from my account? For example if I purchased a module i didn't like, can I de-register it from my account and give it to a friend?
  20. the more frames per second the better i say :) It stops feeling / looking like a game once you go over 100fps - (especially if you are lucky enough to have a true 120hz capable monitor).
  21. the detail in this module is very nice i have to say - i prefer flying modern jets but being close to the ground and where all of the action gives me some good thrills :) you feel a lot more connected to the world around you being slow close to things
  22. I also hope someone will be nice enough to duplicate the facebook/google+ posts on the forums here they are blocked at work for me! :P
  23. Well just FYI, i'm having no trouble with frame rates - getting around 60-100+ FPS most of the time. Occasionally dropping down to 40-50. Mind you I have: the civilian traffic turned off pre-load distance to 20,000m trees to 6,000 shrubs and clutter 250m no tree shadows I'd love to have it all cranked up to max, so i guess hopefully one day it'll all get optimised :) I'm running a GTX670 and Core i5 3570K all default clock speeds.
