Should the gun gas purge door be closed unless the gun is firing? It's open at all times from a cold start, closing and operating normally when the gun is fired for the first time.

I’ve spent the last two days trying to get them to track and had no joy. I thought it was a skill issue but then I saw the comment made be KlarSnow, now I have no idea if it’s me or the Shrike, they always land somewhere near but don’t seem to track, I’m putting the correct seeker heads on. I’ll edit my training mission so the F4 spawns with them on rather than having to set up an empty aircraft in game, see if they’ll track.

It’s probably the DLSS doing its thing, try turning it off and testing again just to confirm if that’s the problem.

Does anyone know if ED fixed the issue mentioned in the quote from KlarSnow? I couldn't see anything in the last few change logs.

It’s not residual heat, it’s friction from the air heating the heat shield due to the spacecraft‘s high speed when re-entering the atmosphere.

I’d definitely hold off on buying again until the situation is resolved and someone is actually working on it again. It’s a long way from being finished and if it ends abandoned sooner or later a DCS update will stop it working all together.

This situation is utterly ridiculous. If the ED and Razbam management teams had done their job properly in the first place this would never have escalated to the level of lunacy that we see now. I’ve seen all the rumours on here and the ones “that Reddit page”, I expect the truth lies somewhere in the middle, personally I don’t care. ED are completely at fault here as the platform holder, get it sorted out if you want any more money from me.

A track file is a diagnostic tool, it lets the devs see what’s going on behind the scenes in the sim. They werent designed as a replay tool, that’s why they de-sync over time. Nobody is calling you names.

I’ve had very few problems with jester. In fact I’m enjoying using him and find him very useful. Seeing so many people complain about him I genuinely thought I was missing or not understanding something fundamental. I wonder how many of the people complaining are simply expecting too much or blaming him (the AI) for their own faults or lack of ability?

The DCS F4 isn’t a real aircraft it’s a collection of pixels on your screen, you’re really just sat in your pants doing make believe flying on your PC and taking it incredibly seriously too.

What are you lot going on about? The sounds are screwed up because (below) people getting irate as hell around these message boards lately.

Fuel volume would change with temperature, but the mass shouldn’t change I think. If I have 50% fuel and it gets hot the fuel will expand and take up more space in the tanks, but the mass will remain the same, I won’t all of a sudden have less or more fuel.

I did a quick test today, everything seems fine now. Hot start hornet on the Syria map, no other units. Laser arm didn’t crash the sim and was able to launch two laser mavs and drop four gbu 12’s no dramas .

Are they planning a hotfix or we talking about the next full patch in about 5-6 weeks?

F14 all the way dude Its feature complete, stable, safe to learn because nothings going to change on you.

Welcome to DCS, it’s been that way for years, it’s much worse now though with the bigger wait between patches.

If you disable the launcher it will stop messing with the easy communication and mirror on/off settings

I’ve read accounts of pilots saying that the F4 cockpit was very loud and uncomfortable when compared to other aircraft of the time, it is a pain in the sim when you can’t even hear the radio though.

That would be good to know, in most modules I use middle mouse button to bring up the kneeboard, can’t do it in the tomcat.

Disabling the launcher solves the problem, not ideal but it’ll do until they fix it.

Same issue here, arm laser on ATFLIR, immediate crash.
