Blasted fences, we had to erect the barbed wire/metal post version, the first photo, at RAF Brize Norton in the late 70's. One of the senior officers gave a brief that it was scheduled to be completed in six weeks......2 years later, we were still at it. So much for the forward planning! It always seemed to lash rain on the week I was slated for it. This cut and paste install is MUCH easier, lol

Hi Hawkeye 60, Thanks for the Vulcan, set it up at RAF Akrotiri Cyprus, and sat in the F-18 as it taxi'ed towards me and lined up on the runway, watched it get started and cut accross to the main runway turned in behind and followed it down the runway, it lifted off......and I lost sight of it....Odd.. Check F10 yep it's in front of me, but the only time I saw it next was in F2 looking accross, I could see both planes. Did another check. AH-64 followed it taxi-ing again, and when it lifted off......Vulkan cloaking device kicked in and it dissapeared......sneaky lot these Vulcans. To confirm, from the cockpit, it cannot be seen after take off Maybe someone else has seen this problem Looks great and thank you

Civilian Objects And Vehicles
flyingscotsman replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Sorry for being lazy, yep downloading the skins, och ye did a Yellow one too, thank you. Pity no one ever did a Whirlwind, HAR10, they sounded great, I never realised though that their payload was RUBBISH. We had a Commando version with us in Norway way back 81, the Puma guys used to take the micky about its speed. I'll say it straight, it was always serviceable...... -
Civilian Objects And Vehicles
flyingscotsman replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
Hi Crazeddie, One of the smartest skins IMHO was the RN, ASR version, with the grey/dayglo and playing card markings. I think they were based at RNAS Culdrose . That show's my age, lol -
I agree with Joey45, I had a few trips in Nimrods, even got to 'drive' once, (To stop me being airsick....it worked!) I too loved the FSX Nimrod, best wishes for this MOD.

I am confused by the weapons panel, can get the cannons to work, but cannot get the rockets to fire, or the bombs to drop. I have bound my button 4 to release the weapons, bombs? But no response. Button 1, will fire the cannons and send off a missile... Anyone got any help regarding the bombs/rockets, Thanks in advance. Throttle pedals, toe brakes, and everything else works LOVE IT Thank you

DCS Super Hercules mod by Anubis
flyingscotsman replied to Eight Ball's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
I take it, with the announcement of the Hercules now going to be launched as a full DCS working model, that like the MB339 will cost, (I don't have a problem with that). Will the Anubis version then become unworkable? I just took a long time to work through my MODS when the MB339 was discontinued, to find that this why my installation would not work. A wee warning in advance would be nice, Best of luck with the project, if this is the case -
I previously wrote my support on UTube, this looks great. Then I found this mention on here today, so totally in favour of this MOD, Thank you Whereas I understand why you would like to use Discord for information, I would respectfully request, some update information be posted here. I find Discord,,,,,,well Discordant, too much stuff to wade through which eats into my time on DCS and other flying, (I'm retired and it STILL eats into my time.) Just saying, IMHO

Avro Vulcan XH558 - Mod by T-Pap
flyingscotsman replied to T-Pap's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Hi T-Pap, I for one would not be trying the umpteen hours slog down to the SA & back, so refuelling is not a problem for me. You could rightly put it out without, recall that the crews had not done refuelling for years until the situation was forced on them. , Thanks for coming back and trying, appreciated -
See Pricklyhedgehog on utube, he did an update on DCS and I recall there's mention of the Kiowa still being worked on. There are 2 videos from about 18th Jun. So much stuff is now 'On their facebook page', never joining Facebook, so I'll never know ha ha

VSN flyable aircraft mods
flyingscotsman replied to razo+r's topic in Flyable/Drivable Mods for DCS World
Shame about the F-18 versions, but thanks for all the hard work -
Excellent vide as usual, nice to see crew co-ordination at it's best.....i.e. you were having a blast! lol, keep up the good work

EEEEE! Thats nice, thank you

This is great, I don't suppose you could mod it to the RAF Wessex type nose, no problem if it's too much trouble. Thank you . More numerous in the UK/Cyprus and RAF Germany

Rudder Pedals not Working Correctly
flyingscotsman replied to sSkullZnBoneZz's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
Had a similar problem, partly solved by double checking the FFB/Normal force trim. I had been away from the apache a few days. Came back. It LEAPED into the air and started rotating, crosswind pedals had not effect. Deleted the entries for other axis of this type, including the gampead and restarted. Still the same! Found this thread and yes my trim was FFB not what it should have been. So changed that. No changed. Had not restarted the pc, only the game, but on a whim I unplugged the gamepad. Restarted the game, and it was SORTED. So, although it said the gamepad was not being used, But LISTED in the items availalbe. Only when I unplugged did it really sort it.PHEW! Though this might help someone -
Ramsey & Malakhit, Thanks for the info, Yep I missed understanding that at some point, but it makes sense. It's the same in real life, we used to deploy from UK to other NATO allies, and they'd give us their maps, unlike our Ordnance Survey, they would miss out 'secret information', like the names and locations of the bases we were going to visit. (This is 40 years back in the 70's when there was no GPS or Mobile phones). So we departed Treviso where the Herc's left us and drove up to Villafranca, 'somwhere on the other side of Verona' but the map just had the base as a swamp, some local tracks that looked like roads, were'nt on the map, so it was easy to miscount the numbers to the right turn.... We flagged down the local police car and asked them for assistance. They were a bit suspicious at first....40 guys with green Landrovers and some 3 ton trucks....with british markings....yep that's probably terrorists. But they grudgingly showed us the way to the right road. We were later shown a more 'trusted' map, it had all the swampy bits marked, SECRET area!!! That helped a lot...not Yep dialling down the scale is progress lol

I may well have missed this in all I've read. Struggling to get maps on the TSD I find that I have maps working with the a/c running and route pre-planned on Caucuses, Nellis & Marianas. But nothing on Persian Gulf. Is that right? Thanks in advance, will check in much later today

This last update 19/03/22 has made the RAF starter trolley disappear, the trucks are still there. But I had the trolley on all my RAF airfields, it will be missed. Hope it can be fixed THANK YOU

When my slow internet finally let me start up, it was cold and dark outside, never mind in the Helo. Did a short, ugly engines running set up at Akrotiri, (may as well have sunshine) and I skittered about the pad for a few minutes, rodeo style and then got it in the air for a tower flyby of sorts, flying squint down the taxiway (trudged up that taxi way a few times) and then attemped a landing.....I was able to walk away is all I'll say. So it's a Landing then. Am I the only one that read the book, watched the vids....then suffered memory failure once in the blasted thing. I must've pressed the dump KV button!. Starting again from scratch this morning lol In game tutorial followed....ish, managed a start, taxi.....it stopped speaking to me after that, so I bimbled out to the runway and took off....no one will notice and did a brilliant low lever, under the wires etc circuit and landed....but this time, I was able to taxi back to my slot, with the aircraft looking intact. Quick sign the 700, no faults and retire to the bar...or in my case, go walk the dog, HAVE A GREAT First day everyone & THANKS ED FOR THE MODULE
