Hi all TrackIR 5 users. Get buttery smooth tracking and smooth image if your set your fps to 60 (or 120 fps, if your system can manage ) I have been flying for two years with G-sync enabled and head tracker and have been a happy camper, but did not know what I was missing out by matching the frame rate of DCS with the frame rate of the TrackIR (120 fps). Works perfectly in (120/60/40/30 fps). Personally I do this by setting the max frame rate to 60 in Nvidia Control Panel. If you own TrackIR, I highly recommend you to test it. Now I fly low level over Syria cities and image/headtracking is super smooth.

Barthek's CAUCASUS REDONE 2022
MIghtymoo replied to Barthek's topic in Texture/Map Mods for DCS World
I use OVGME mod manager, but same principles apply. Terrain mod goes in the: C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World main folder. Enable main mod first, then snowless afterwards. -

Dots visibility does not have anything to do with ST/MT. -

Awesome mod, and don’t forget it is also an improvement for spotting ground targets. Had a great time in the Hind on the infamous Crocodil Hunting Grounds today… -
Is this new behavior? I can't recall this from earlier.

Experts can clarify, anyhow I highly recommend to use a mod manager to easily turn on/off mods. I personally use OVGME. -
Discovered this in a mission a few days ago also. APC drove right through buildings and trees.

I totally agree to above. I love flying helos, and have worked hard to like the Apache, but I do not feel "connected", as I do with the other helos like Huey or Hind. I also have a Virpil CM3 stick and VKB rudder with very smooth/light movement. I can not believe how difficult it must be to handle for a person with less precise HW or less experience flying helis. In no way can the real bird be as sensitive on the roll axis. Also the crazy right roll/cartwheel that comes sometimes, can not be how the real thing behaves.

[NO LONGER PASSES IC] Improved Contact Dot Spotting (Updated v1.1)

Here are results from my test with a 34 inch 1440p monitor: I see further and more planes with dots OFF, compared to dots MOD (8 vs 6 planes). The planes are bigger at mid range with the mod though, so in actual combat it may be easer to see them. At long ranges the mod is worse with my 3440p monitor compared to OFF Need to fly some more... -

Great summary and this thread should tell ED to put some more effort into fixing well-known and undesirable issues in the core engine (*** insert long list here, including spotting ***) I am an avid DCS player and have a lot of aircraft, maps and campaigns. And according to my wife, I spend far to much time and money on DCS . But I (mostly) love it! In my humble opinion, too much time is spent on eye candy and more should be diverted to make the overall game experience better. I think the engagement seen in this thread support that impression. When I made a serious and neutral post to bring this topic up some time back, my whole post was deleted without warning or notice… Please ED, divert some more attention to fixing the well know core issues (including spotting) and you will get an even larger crowd of fans and loyal couch pilots -
Will Normandy 2.0 map have FLIR textures?
MIghtymoo replied to MIghtymoo's topic in DCS: Normandy 2.0
Thanks for the clarification. A assume this has low priority for developers, as this is sold as a WW2 map. Most likely this means no FLIR textures for the map objects on Normandy 2.0. Still looking forward to fly this amazing looking map with non-FLIR focus / tasks- 3 replies

Thanks for the quick reply. PS: When I am finished with work today, I will enjoy the "Vivid for Syria 2". Only had time to test it free flying for 5-10 mins...Which was still enough time to WOW me...

@BarthekAny plans on improving NTTR-map?
-
Just tried this mod, and it is just awesome! Highly recommended!

I usually unzip the files first, maybe an issue?

I know that the Normandy 2.0 map is a WW2 map, but it is too beautiful not to be used by more modern jets and most importantly helicopters. How will the map support FLIR textures when flying e.g the Apache?
