Can verify that this is st Can verify that this is still an issue We lost 4 Hinds due to RPGs, and we thought it would be a walk in the park... Ended up using Petrovich missiles to get the RPGs, before moving in with the rockets and guns to mop up infantry and trucks.

I flew the Sinai map yesterday with a buddy in a two-ship with Hinds. We flew for a few hours around Cairo to eliminate insurgents and experienced the sunset and night. I have to say that the map is stunning and beautiful in these conditions. The new lighting, the nice textures of the sand and the cityscape is looking top notch.

I personally do not think there is a need to remove the SAM-locations from the map. These SAM sites were well known IRL, as these were permanent constructions and easy to locate on satellite photos. The challenge is to know which of the sites are active and which are empty.

Used 3090 or new 4070/4070TI?
MIghtymoo replied to kestrel79's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I considered a used 3090, closed my eyes and got a used 4090 for «just» USD 500,-more. Much newer and much more powerful. Better future proofing. -

Let us just reread Wags quote. It is clearly stated there. Nothing to start a conflict over...

Would have been nice if it was possible to treat the canal as a "road", same way as vehicles traveling on roads where the route snaps to the road. No way I am going to spend hours in the ME getting a handful vessels safely through the canal by tweaking waypoints over and over again.

No reason to punish OnReTech (maker of Sinai map) for delay of the F-15E. Makes no sense… The plane will be here soon enough and in EA for years…

I assume you mean i7 13700? If so CPU. DDR4 memory is pretty cheap now. I got extra 32 GB DDR4 3600 for 110 Euros.

Experienced the same issue in the Mi-24P on Sinai map. Turning off mirrors work. No issue with the F-16 (no mirrors….)

reported earlier Sinai Black windows popping up after last update
MIghtymoo replied to Camelot101's topic in General Bugs
I got this on the new Sinai map in the Mi-24P. Came and went. Removed mirrors and all was OK. No issue with the F-16. -
The first thing I did when testing the sim, was to check out the pyramids. Very disappointing. I hate it when the do trailers and depict it as in-game footage and it looks nothing like the game.
-
I have gone all the way next to the pyramids and they look very low-res and bad. I run a 4090 with everything maxed out in 4K.

I have recently gotten a used RTX4090 (still expensive ) and have a Intel i5 11600K CPU. The CPU has a stable overclock on all cores to 4.9 GHz. I am running DCS capped to max 60 FPS in 4K with everything maxed out. I can get occasional drops in heavily scripted multiplayer servers, otherwise smooth on all maps in SP and MP, even Normandy 2.0. Is there much to gain going for a newer 13th generation CPU for DCS compared to my OC 11th generation?

I am a fan of the Viggen and just love the RB-05 (remote controlled missiles). Feels great when you nail the target.

Pretty much no single player missions anywhere for this map?
MIghtymoo replied to imacken's topic in South Atlantic
Agree. The SA map is taking its time… -
Will be a first day buy for me.

Civilian Objects And Vehicles
MIghtymoo replied to Eight Ball's topic in Static/AI Mods for DCS World
I have done this in a mission some time back using the excellent mod pack. https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3320570/ -
Should this be reported as a bug?

Great to get some supportive science into this thread. Much appreciated.

I guess we have different experiences… I have a G-sync monitor running from 20-100 Hz (Asus Predator 34 inch). Have fun flying and see you in the skies.
-
Better late than never, though After flying for hundreds of hours in DCS, I believe that «snake oil» when I saw the difference with my own eyes tonight. Does not cost a penny to test for yourself…

If I have a frame rate of e.g 45 in DCS and the TrackIR has 120 fps, moving your head you are still getting 45 fps, but the head movement appears a tiny bit choppy/struttery as the timing of the position of your head sent to the PC is not matching the frame being drawed by the GPU. If you have a IR-camera with lower refresh rate this is more noticable. You have to try it out to experience it for yourself…TrackIR goes from goes from good (with variable refresh rate on the monitor) to super smooth (when locking the frame rate either (120/60/40/30) Hope someone with better tech skills can explain this in a better way.
