How to I disable the gremlin in the cockpit??
Dejjvid replied to -Ice's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Here is very helpful tip for those of you that are struggling (fighting against the ka-50 while trying to fly). If you have a TM Warthog stick. Assign trim to the BIG Pinky switch, not the nosewheel button. It's very easy to keep holding the big one instead of the small one. Situation: You are on the FARP, everything up and running. You are just about to increase collective. 1. HOLD trim button. 2. Increase collective and take-off. 3. When you have reached your desired attitude (pitch, rudder & bank), release trim button. 4. Voilá! You are flying straight and level! 5. Suddenly you want to do a sweet turn to the left. PRESS AND HOLD TRIM BUTTON before you move the stick or rudder! 6. With trim pressed, use some left rudder and bank to the left. Complete the turn and when you are in level flight. Release the trim button! If you learn to fly with this technique, you have 100% control of the heli when you want. And the different AP's will control the heli when you have to manage other things. It's really sweet to do nap-of-the-earth flying with the AP. Just engage ALT AP, and make sure it's set to radar. I only use ALT AP when i want to follow the ground (radar mode) or fly a bit higher to avoid mountains (BARO mode). When you release trim, ALT AP will keep your heli at the altitude above ground you are when you release trim. As a side note, the AP can't adjust the collective very much, so don't expect to climb over Mt. Everest automagically.. The reason to choose the big pinky as trim button is that you sometimes need to hold the trim down for several minutes if you're doing some crazy ninja maneuvers. If you want to hold a nice smooth turn, release the trim when you have the desired attitude. When you want to cancel the turn, just press trim and readjust the attitude, then release trim again. So to sum it up, press and HOLD trim before you touch the stick and rudder, when you're done maneuvering, release trim. -
Slow down to 3 km/h. Engage hover, your heli will start to pitch up if you were going forward. Wait 2 sec, tap trim button. Wait 2 secs, if it's not ok, retap trim button. If this doesn't work, you are doing something very fishy... :)

You can measure distance and bearing with the line tool iirc. Haven't played for a few months, but it's fairly easy. One of the more popular multiplayer missions only hand out bearing and distance from waypoints. There must be some other players that have used that tool aswell.. :) Else i can check during the weekend and report back.

Initial impressions on Black shark 2 please
Dejjvid replied to coolts's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
I'm waiting for my new gaming rig. I probably get it on Thursday. I don't wanna install BS2 on my current computer if the activation fails. If the activation fails on the new rig. I'm gonna do a little trip to Moscow.... :pilotfly: I've played League of Legends for about a week now, and i'm gonna continue to punish myself until i get the new computer... Nothing beats listening to 12yr olds whining about this and that because they die all the time. -
Remove the big chunks of trees. And save the 'low numbers' You can't crash into trees anyway, so it shouldn't affect your gameplay.

Initial impressions on Black shark 2 please

Can't wait for my new rig, i get it next week. After i've played BF3 on Ultra, im gonna play BS2 until i fall asleep at the hotas.. :) -
I've read through 55 pages (yes, a do need a aspirin now. And yes, i'm bored at work) Call of duty DLC - 13,99€ (few maps and weaps added) Farm Simulator DLC 3 - 7,99€ (you get a new plow and some other 'hot' stuff) Starcraft 2 will release 'expansions' aka. DLC with two new singleplayer campaigns. I can bet my salury that they will cost 29,99€ each. WOW is 12€ish per month! 20$ is nothing for BS2, stop complaining please. If you don't like it, don't buy it, don't play it. And for the love of everything, stop making crap posts in this thread, make a whine thread instead.

This is awesome news. I get my new gaming rig at the end of the month. This didn't make the wait easier..... :)

I've never missed a CCRP bomb delivery in .09. I often have my laser in latched mode. When i set SPI i always have the laser active if the targets is in 'tricky' places. If you set SPI from 25nm, you are likely to set it up to 50m off the target, depending of your altitude of course. If i create markpoints in order to drop several 38's, i stay max 15nm out. And they're always dead on. Post a track and i can review it tonight.

It's not, since you don't carry them into battle. The only reason for having ext tks is for pure transport, or to drop them well ahead of the battle area. So if you have them, and don't want 'em filled. Drop them. If you wanna keep them, why not keep them filled? Makes no sense to me...

Inside view of TM HOTAS Warthog
Dejjvid replied to Frazer's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Since one srewhead was busted. And almost every screw inside the stick is skewed. I believe the manufacturer was in a hurry producing the Warthogs. You can definitely tell that it isn't a robot that has assembled the units. Don't know if i break the dms button when i try to fix it. So i'll rather wait until someone produce a nice little guide for taking the handle apart. -

Sweet, i've got kinda used to my stick now. I'll have it the loose way for a few weeks and see if i want to change it later. I still need to find some good grease though. I hear the awful sound of friction sometimes when i fly. And my DMS left button has been bad since day one. Im gonna try to open my handle to see if i can fix it. It's annoying when you start to broadcast SPI to everyone when you zoom out your TGP :) Anyone else had any problem with DMS button? -
12's can be CCIP'ed and guided with no problem at all. I believe 38's can't be CCIP'ed because it takes approx. 2 secs before location data (spi) to be transferred to the bomb. Therefore, it's really hard to keep the reticle on the target and get a good target fix. Why would you CCIP 38's any way? They are precision guided munitions. It's really hard to designate an exact point while diving, through the HUD. If you are at angels 10, then dot is covering quite a distance.

ok, here's the video. It's a quick video recorded with my iphone, so the quality isn't the best. I hope you understand my sometimes crappy english ;) -
Holy snap, all this talking about hovering makes me wanna take the shark for a spin soon. That's the only thing I miss about the a-10, it sucks at hovering..

Rofl, too bad i noticed this thread too late.... I did the exact same thing as Mbot and Druid is proposing. And it works. It took a few hours before i got the whole path smooth. But once i figured it out it was easy. I have 3 waypoints with approx 500m spacing that slows and descends the helo. I set both alt and speed to zero in the orbit task. So my Chinook is holding absolutely still for 2 min (trigger) before it continues to the *hospital*. The Chinook is hovering about 30feet above the ground, but from angels 5+, you won't notice that. Perhaps you'll see my missions soon. Just need to add some more chaos before i release it :) It would be sooo much easier with a land task :)

Default payload in Georgian Hammer campaign
Dejjvid replied to Owl's topic in User Created Missions General
Learn CCIP bombing. CCRP is only a good choice for low alt bombing with dumbs bombs. -
One issue i've noticed during online gaming is that many players taxi around 30-40knots GS. So here's a quick recap on how to show groundspeed: Switch the right MFCD to CDU. Change the right dial below the CDU itself to *Position*. Click the OSB next to *IAS 50* twice, and you have the Ground Speed instead.
-
I always take off without the gs indication, everything works fine except ah. It usually comes online within 1 min of flight. So you don't have to wait on the ground.

Actually, it is armoured Bucic :megalol: Anyways, just stay low and use the terrain to your advantage.

To my knowledge there is no way to display airborne threats on the TAD through SADL.
