Woot!? ED really developed the F/A-18? zomg, zomg!!111 Get real Blaze, i asked when ED would release the manual for (DCS) F/A-18.
-
Manual F/A-18 When will you release the manual for the F/A-18 ED? :music_whistling:
-
If BMS can incorporate Smart Scaling, then ED can too. Really helps the eye.
-
If i were in a real Ka-50, i would also trim like mad, clicking all the time. But unfortunately, im at home, with my HOTAS without FFB. I use the "push-manouver-release" technique. I let the AP work FOR me, not AGAINST me.

Aim for 130 IAS. When you get better, you will learn to adjust it. The most common rookie mistake is to get in too slow. If the A-10C is empty, you should touchdown at 120 IAS. Just below the altitude in the HUD is a number, that number is your climb/descent angle. It should read -3, then you're on a perfect glideslope.
-
If you do that, you probably end up with a lot of condensation instead ;)

Fly 300km/h and check your blades with the F2 view. It's self explanatory. Otherwise search the forums. This has been explained 10000 times. If the MAX IAS light is flashing, reduce collective and SLOWLY pitch up 5 degrees until it go out. Any sudden inputs will probably cause the blades to clash. So be gentle. If your RPM drops below minimum you are putting too much load on the rotor. Reduce blade pitch by reducing collective or don't do any aerobatics. Use at least 1.02, and if you can. Upgrade to Black Shark 2 and apply the latest patch.

Here's a screenshot from one of our squad flights. Four A-10's topping up before RTB. The skin is created by one of our members Samcro. It's the Swedish M/90 camo. I think he's making a skin without the Masterarms logo for the public.
-
This is how it's done. But then again, we're Swedes ;)

Really good post The-Sky! As for the abbreviations, please refer to the manual as Viper wrote and The-Sky's excellent crash course. It's essential that you fully understand SOI and SPI. That's step one. Step two is to memorize all the buttons that the real A-10C has on its HOTAS. I strongly recommend that you bind everything to your HOTAS. Step three is understanding of CCRP, CCIP, DSMS profiles and control of the TGP. I've read the whole manual several times and played since first public beta. And I still learn something new every time I fly or read the manual. This sim is by far the most complex sim available to the public. And that's what makes is so special, and requires alot of time to master.

The worst part isn't the preconnect thingy. The worst thing that i really do hate is when the KC-135 pilot thinks that stomping full rudder with wings level is funny. It sucks to connect, since you must bank your A-10, while the tanker is flying wings level. Anyhow, AAR in BMS is fake. In BMS you just have to be somewhat near the tanker. When you're close, the aliens activate the tractor beam and holds you under the plane. As for the lights on the KC-135, i don't think A-10's use them. They're for aircrafts, such as the F-16 that go past the boom with the cockpit. Sucks to twist your neck 180...

Is it possible to tweak the type of tasks generated? Last night when we flew it, we had 88% bunkers to hit. Gets boring really quick. Would like to see more vehicles and persons to take out.

hold your horses now! First of all: Master Arm --> Arm DSMS --> MSL --> EO ON (wait for alignment to complete) Coolie hat up short (HUD is now SOI, small asterix left side of the hud) DMS left/right short to select Maverick profile. Find your target with TGP, when the crosshairs are on the target. Press and HOLD TMS UP (1sec). This will set you SPI (Sensor Point of Interest) on the target Coolie hat right short, then coolie hat right LONG (1sec) to set Mav as SOI (or just click twice on Mav OSB button) China hat forward LONG (1 sec). Now your maverick will slave to your SPI. China hat forward short (max 0.5sec) (this will change FOV aka. zoom in your Mav). On the left side on the mav screen an indexer will appear when your are closer then 10.5nm to your target. Wait until it says 7nm. Then press TMS up SHORT, your Mav will now try to track. Sometimes you must try several times to do TMS up SHORT. The tracking gate will collapse when the maverick has locked. Sometimes it doesn't collapse, but the white lines in the cross will start to flash rapidly. When you have a lock, press and HOLD weapon release. The mav should fire. If this doesn't work for you, google some mav tutorials.

So you're saying that just because you are having problems with AAR, the sim is too difficult? I've spent probably around 20hrs practicing AAR. I can fill up 10000lbs without disconnects in one try. Can i do it blindfolded? - No, not at all. I still have to focus 100%. Adjust your curves so you are comfortable in both tight formation flying and AAR. Learn to anticipate your movements. Learn to nudge the throttles in small increments, adjust constantly. Watch videos and learn how to approach the tanker. Practice, practice and practice. Soon you'll be able to AAR like a pro. TL;DR: AAR in BMS is a piece of cake. DCS requires more practice.

The best part is that you don't have to align INS :pilotfly: Getting sick and tired of waiting 2min every startup. In fact, i'm staying way out of harms way now and send in my squaddies everytime my RWR tells me something.. ;)

Had the same issue yesterday. Can we have an official answer from ED on this matter? I've seen videos both with and without ads from DCS. And I don't care about any revenue. I just don't wanna upset anyone at ED. I'm currently working on some tutorial vids, so I'm not selling anything. But if I can get 2$ from YT I can buy myself a beer.. ;)

Nose Wheel juddering/trembling - feature or BUG ?
Dejjvid replied to NRG-Vampire's topic in DCS: A-10C Warthog
ED use the old GBU-12 bang bang guidance for the nosewheel iirc. true story. -
The tracers are red because they are infact red. it doesn't matter if you see them from the rear, front or the sides.
-
Just nudge the throttles up, then back again. You'll soon get the hang of it. And if you don't trim 97% of the time flying the hawg, you're not in control.

Hi Dragon! On Redcross massacre, everytime i use a weapon when hosting myself. It switches to F6 view. Is it a setting in your mission? Edit: Just upgraded to 6.9, it worked like it should now :)
-
Easy! I'll just do one of my famous VTOL landings. :pilotfly:

With TAD as your SOI: 1. Slew your cursor on your target (red triangle) 2. TMS UP Short (This will hook your target) 3. TMS UP Long (This will move your SPI to the target) 4. China hat forward long (This will slave ALL your sensors to your SPI) win.
-
Step one: Set up your desired profiles in the DSMS page. Step two: Set HUD as SOI with Coolie hat up short. Use DMS left/right short to cycle profiles. You will see the weapon name in the lower left part of your HUD. If you select a Mk-82 profile that is set to CCRP, and you decide that you wanna go in with CCIP. You just have to press the Master mode button and cycle to CCIP. Then your selected profile will change to CCIP until you cycle profiles again.

I'd say it's impossible for an AMRAAM to get a lock on another AMRAAM if they're heading against each other from the exact opposite direction. a) The nose would deflect 99% of the radar emission. The fins are really thin too. b) I don't think the AMRAAM has mm wavelength radar. It's designed to find and track much bigger things, so it's definitely cm radar. And lack the resolution to pick up such a small object, and it would most likely be discarded by the software as noise.
