I don't understand your position in this topic. If you are OK with the current AI behavior then GOOD. Go on and live your life and play this game the way you want to play it. We are NOT OK with it. It's that simple. Trying to prove us and showing that you can win a banana fight does absolutely nothing for improving the realism of this .. you know.. SIMULATOR.
-
yup, I did too. Early adopters all the way!
-
you can buy 1.0 base stations, they are cheaper and work just as good as 2.0, at least for seated games. I've been running 1.0 base stations for 3 years now starting from ViveProv1...then Pimax, then ViveProv2... Soon this varjo thingie..
-
first world problems so-to-speak you and I suffer from them apparently.

damn.. i'm itching to pull the trigger... if it were only 500 golden doubloons less... mmm.. I need to sell my G2 that's currently collecting dust since i switched to VP2. btw, what does this mean exactly? "..Custom-made variable resolution aspheric lenses with 35 PPD peak fidelity.." what is varying there ?

I fly in VR, and with the moon all the way up it's still pretty dark even on the Channel/Caucus maps covered with white snow. I'm not sure how to verify the bug you mentioned since to get a better VR performance we need to do all these shader replacements hokie-pokie stuff..
-
wasn't aware of this issue, I'll test it tonight.. if you look at the video explaining this new feature the sun<-to->moon phase transfer shows both celestial objects on the horizon...
-
yup, that's exactly how I'm doing it, I'm almost performing a touch-n-go when dropping the bomb, albeit at 550km/h. Maybe this change is for the Allied planes only? Although I did read in the Mossie forum section that they are seeing exactly the same behavior...

Just gave an update a try: the good: - the water looks awesome now. It's actually possible to discern where it is from the altitude instead of looking in to a dark blue void. - the water splashes are fixed! No more depth charges. - the ME sun/moon cycle is super neat, you no longer need to guess the position of both celestial bodies in your mission, just set it to how you want it and it just works. the not so good: - The 2 second delay for bomb arming: this one escaped me. I've tried in A8 and there is no noticeable delay in bomb explosion after the drop. My aircraft still gets damaged like before. It'd be nice to get a clarification in which use cases this actually works.
-
they fixed it in the A8. Now I can jettison the empty tubes.
-
in MP the spotting is frustrating, plus the engagements are so quick that there is no way to practice the engagement or gunnery. SP is supposed to be the platform for it, at least partially. In its current state the AI is teaching you stuff that isn't real, so what's the point of learning it if all it brings is frustration.
-
agreed. I despise fighting the AI aircraft for the very reason outlined in your post. It's beyond silly that we have such delusional AI behavior in a full fidelity simulator. I remove every single AI fighter plane from all of the missions I download, leaving just the bombers in. And even the bombers exhibit some of this behavior, like the A20's diving and running away at 700kmh for 10 minutes. Btw, as far as flack, I remember nineline was posting that it's a work in progress as they are focusing on its dispersion algorithm and error rates. So there's hope it'll be fixed sometime soon.. hopefully.. crossing fingers..

VR Shaders mod for better VR experience
peachmonkey replied to Kegetys's topic in Utility/Program Mods for DCS World
per users' reports the water shaders were changed. This wasn't mentioned in the patch notes. Now the water has a lot more cloud reflections, etc.. This is probably the reason behind the errors. -
oh yeah.. the reflections. Man, can't wait to load up the game tonight. If it's true then they fixed it to how it was in 2.5, albeit probably with much better quality.. Suhweet!
-
I think they did in the Mariana section? Unless i'm completely wrong here.. DCS: Marianas by Eagle Dynamics Added breaking waves.
-
oh, I thought you were 16km above it my bad.. check the new patch notes. We've got 2 second fuse delay on all bombs. Finally we can do some serious low level bombing without dying from the splash damage!
-
WOW.. AWESOME!!! ME. Added indication of the Sun and Moon phases. Added a slider to quickly set the time of day. https://youtu.be/qpsPc9hInqU Bombs will arm 2 seconds after release. This will eliminate the possibility of detonation under the aircraft in some cases. thank you, ED!

hi, @BIGNEWY the patch link appears to be dead/404: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/news/changelog/openbeta/2.7.7.14727

I would love if the DM itself were to be extended in to the cockpit. Holes in the walls, broken panels, mangled levers..
-
16km in Mossie? or was it 16,000 feet? Yeah, single shell aimbot is annoying as hell at that altitude. Spend 30 minutes climbing, finally level off, gain some speed, want to reach out for a cup of tea to relax before the attack and BAM.. dead.. Who? Where? How? Ohhh.. there's that tiny little boat 5km below me with the laser guided WWII artillery shells..
-
the other sim has it. It's pretty unnerving in VR, but it doesn't last long since you want to gtfo real quick.
-
- with FW190-A8 front armor the AI air gunners aren't an issue at all. Give it a try. The a8 is a freaking tank for that. - With the ship AA it's a mixed bag. Again with the a8 I usually have 60-70% success rate of hitting them with a bomb. However since there's no damage model for ships the whole bombing exercise is pretty much useless. - But AI flak (QF 3,7″) <--- this one is ridiculous at anything above Rookie level. Curve diving on it from 3k at 700kmh and still manage to get 4-5 shots right in my face, c'mon now...
-
I don't know how you guys fight the AI and actually enjoy it. You know it cheats with the FM. When I see the impossible verticals the AI pulls I immediately lose any desire to fight this arcade fight.
-
lol good one. In the future to avoid this type of altercation with the local 'veterans' please mention that you don't speak English and use the on-line translation services to ask questions.
-
lol No problems. It is populated somewhat, in waves, it's a fun little server for sure. I like that it supports the external views for damage evaluation..
