TrackIR takes a bit to tune and tweak all of the curves for each axis. Basically on each axis curve (need to adjust all 6), the steeper the “v-shape” the faster the tracking will move, the higher up the v-shape/ curve goes on the graph determines the max distance it will travel. There is also a couple arrow keys on there to bump the entire curve up and down at once, instead of fiddling with individual points. I can post some of my settings if you would like, granted I’m using a 49” 5120x1440 monitor thats only about 18” in front of me so my left/right axis is fairly dull, since I have to move my head a lot to see the ends of the screen anyway..I’m not sure of I can share the actual setup file.. If you look up “Spudknocker trackIR” he has a pretty good video rundown, once you figure out what the program is expecting, its actually pretty simple. As for the button/ switches in the cockpit, that just takes time, the training missions in the game give a decent basic run-down, but dcs takes a long time to learn a module. The f-18 literally took me months to become decently proficient at when I first started. Gotta play the long game with DCS or it will just be frustrating lol

@EmJay22 The Orion 2 throttle doesn’t have the regular detents to tell you where afterburner starts or where your min power is/ engine cutoff. So the finger lift kit is the detents, at the safterburner point you can push the throttle through to after burner but it wont let you accidentally kill your engines unless you pull up on the finger lifts. I have the Orion 1, before they csame out with the finger lift kit and mine has standard detents( just a spring and a ball ) to give it a little extra pressure at idle/ cutoff and afterburner positions.. just be aware that the Orion 2 does not have those detents installed, from my understanding, so if you order the non-finger lift version, the throttle will be smooth from start to finish, no indication of afterburner or throttle cutoff positions. Which is stupid in my opinion. The non-finger lift version should come with standard detents but from what people say, it doesn’t. Finger lift is just more realistic, like a real jet. The stick itself has an extra attachment on the top left with an extra 4 way hat, an analog stick with press and another lever in front of the trigger. It also I has a vibration motor in it, like an xbox or PlayStation controller, for some haptic feedback( need to shave the simapp-pro software running to use<— WinWings setup/ calibration software). You could add the twist kit too if you don’t have rudder pedals. Fine for a jet but prob not great for helis since you constantly hold/ work the yaw axis. Not beating a dead horse, ask anything you like, its a good chunk of money you’re going to throw down. Better to be as informed as possible rather than be surprised with something you don’t expect. Out of the two, If I were buying one right now I would spend the extra for the hotas max, not necessarily for the lifts, but for the extra buttons/ hats on the stick. Now the vibration/ shaker thing might be cool, but I find the winwing software to kind of make fps buggy in the game so I don’t run it, and I delete the line of code it installs into the export.lua file.

This is great! I was just b*tching to myself a couple days ago about the av8b's severely over-baked canopy! I like a little bit but not that much. Mod works perfect.

Far distant buildings / trees Anti-aliasing issue
MadKreator replied to Nptune's topic in Object Bugs
Not really, its due to the way dcs utilizes the anti-aliasing. From what I’ve read up on ( I could be wrong), DCS’ method of anti-aliasing applies it to every object in the world individually, thats what msaa type does. TAA type anti aliasing ( like in the civil sim) applies it to the entire scene at once. TAA is more of a performance hit but works much better and the shimmer is much much less, if not mostly imperceivable. Later down the road this year with dlss and hopefully the new game engine, it would be nice to see some improvements to this. As for now, it kind of is what it is. Much worse in VR than pancake. —I’m happy to be corrected if I interpreted the AA techniques incorrectly. -
Fps counter is good to at least tune and tweak your settings. Some fps killers are ssaa, ssao , sslr, civ traffic, global cockpit illumination, wake turbulence, shadows of course( i set at medium). Anisotropic filtering can as well, and of course msaa x4 can hit pretty hard over msaa x2. Grass/ clutter I turn all the way down, forest distance can ding you too (going down to like .8 can bump a few fps). Kinda have to just tweak and try things till you scan get fps you want. I find anything under about 50 starts feeling jumpy and annoying especially with trackIR. See if you can manage a combo to hit around 60 in free flight with track ir running. Heavy missions in dcs will bring almost any pc to its knees due to the bottlenecks. In track ir I set my smoothing way up almost maxed out and speed to .9. Lots of messing around to do. My pc can easily run dcs on almost every thing maxed and turned on @ 100+ fps in free flight ( not the point) So capped at 60 I have plenty of overhead to work with, but I was on a server the other day on Syria and it was getting a whipping 36-40 fps, just to tell you how bottlenecked dcs gets in missions due to the single core cpu limitations. DCS is a tough game to judge whether its your cpu or gpu holding you back. Hopefully in the near future when Multithreading is implemented it will be a little easier to tell. Edit—- I set trackIR speed at .5 and smoothing to 40

I’m not entirely sure how to work with nvidia surround. That might be pard of the complication, There was another user that posted, I believe a month or so ago, having the same quirk using triples plus the mfd’s..Might do some digging in display sections and see if you can find that post. I didn’t follow it through so I’m not sure what the outcome was. Moving the comm menu is awesome! You can move the other dialog boxes as well. I will link to the post.

Never used those in particular, but when doing exports—did you set the monitor type to the correct one—set the resolution manually for total screen size to include those screens—and also disable full screen mode? Down a bit in the forums under “multi-display bugs” the first pinned post is a guide to setting up external mfd’s. Give it a read or two, it may help with a missed step when it comes to get the exported displays to show correctly. You may be able to skip simapp-pro all together and just export them natively.. not sure if the osb buttons need simapp to function, or if they can be manually bound. I’d bet there’s more than one way to get it done.

That Web Based Mission Editor I saw in a (fake/real?) video...
MadKreator replied to cfrag's topic in Mission Editor
From the discord and Reddit , it sounds like they may have a working version fairly soon, at least to get some people in for testing it out. But I can imagine, with all the ideas and feedback they’re getting, it will probably be a while before its the mission editor of peoples dreams, so to speak. Looks promising though. -
You wont be disappointed, they are great pedals! Very beefy, very smooth, and very precise! They are a little tippy due to the design of the base, but mostly while you’re getting your feet positioned on them. Mine are just sitting on carpet away from the wall so I put sticky back Velcro on the bottom and they don’t move at all.

You have to just click on an item thats in one of the bundles. Say click on the ah-64 and it will show the bundles associated with it. I’m sure it has something to do with the bundles not being a bunch of new products listed on steam, there probably isn’t a good efficient way to just have them show up separately, or not worth the effort for just a week event

I noticed this too, I browsed through all of the planes/ packages, and it would only let me buy two- the mi-24/ ah64/ bs3 and one of the warbird ones with p-47/ mossie.. the heli one was tempting because it discounted the bundle price further because I already have bs3, so the ah64/mi24 was $47 total<—-thats a deal! Point is, all of the rest of the bundles, since I own most content in them, or even one item in each one, were only available to purchase as a gift. So either the rest of the bundles are messed up and not discounting for modules you already have, or the heli one is messed up and giving an extra discount that shouldn’t be there..I’m not mad about it, or expecting cheap handouts, but they do seem to be a little wonky, on steam anyway

Help with key binding for Winwing Orion 2 HOTAS in DCS.
MadKreator replied to blackvette702's topic in New User Briefing Room
These are the main functions you want in the a-10c for most of these aircraft in the controls area, there is a section called hotas where you can bind the pertinent controls. The rest of the leftover functions, flaps, gear, trim, autopilot, bind as you see fit… for the a-10 and f-18 you will want trim somewhere on your stick, up/dn/lt/rt.. f-16 you only NEED left and right, Up/dn automatically stabilizes to 1G.. you can trim differently, but mostly unnecesary. Mind you, some functions in the hotas menu you may not necessarily need, like the multiple radio controls ( if you have easy comms turned on), might bite you in the ass if you go into a more hardcore server that doesn’t allow easy comms for example. As for what functions you do need/ want to access via the hotas, you kinda have to learn the modules and use what makes sense.. my stick isn’t a replica of an actual a stick so I try to keep the same switches in the same spots for multiple aircraft.. countermeasures, trim, tms, dms, Radar elevation, tgp controls( for the most part), radar cursor, tdc, tdc depress etc etc -
Of course they wouldn’t be able to reply to all, that would be a waste. I’ve always thought that even the poll kind of things would be nice, like the hornet page.If the wishlist had its own polls. Here’s a list, so far, of things we’d like to implement based on our ideas and the community, that are feasible. Everyone gets to vote on the top few things they find most appealing and progress moves onward. That of course would need to be published across all of their media outlets, since I’m sure a great number of players aren’t active on here , maybe more hassle than it worth. I think your idea is good as well, if the community had an actual way to vote on the ideas in the wish list, it could be an easier indicator than basing it off of replies or hearts, most of which trail off the initial subject anyway, or end up with people arguing to no resolve lol Up-vote a good idea , down-vote a ridiculous one, then discuss amongst yourselves as you will. There is so many good ideas , that just seemingly get lost in the mix, a way to prioritize them amongst the community could be beneficial. For instance in the ME( mind you I almost never use it). Lots of requests by people to drag a box around a group to select them all.. I honestly I don’t know how this isn’t a thing in 2023.. but I’ve yet to see any ED acknowledgment on the subject that the voice has even been heard, even though to me it seems like a very important and basic feature. At least we could all vote on the subject to reflect the importance. <— just a random example But ED does ED. It’s their company and that is fine too.

New Persistent & Dynamic Online MP Server "NATOvSyria 1992"
MadKreator replied to =BZ= Maple's topic in Multiplayer
Hopped on last night for a few. Saw a guy get shot down in an f-18.. so i thought id try the ferry out. Saw there was 2 f-16’s and 2 f-18’s at the bottom of the list. Hopped in an f-18 and trucked it back to Ramat, landed, parked where it said, shutdown nothing happened. Started back up moved a bit to right where the arrow points, shutdown, nothing happened. Started back up, parked in one of the hangars, shutdown and still nothing happened. Was expecting a message or something saying ferry transfers completed or something. Went back to spectators and there was still two f-16’s and 18’s waiting on the ground for transfer. I I didn’t see anywhere showing the aircraft that were out of commission or anything, or how many needed to be transferred. Did I totally miss the point, or just do it wrong? Another Q. With fog of war on, will the enemies like hidden Sam sites/ AAA or whatever, show up on the map after they have been spotted ( any sort of recon implemented or planned to)? Just not sure how that works, strictly for my own curiosity. -

MadKreator replied to =BZ= Maple's topic in Multiplayer
Cool! This sounds like it will be a lot of fun! Almost like a pre-cursor to how ED wants their DC. I hope people can take this one seriously and cooperate on objectives instead of going haywire all over the place at random. Good mix of combat, strategy, supplying etc. Somedays I don’t feel like fighting or bombing, I would totally sit there for a couple hours just transporting new jets to Ramat! -
I can empathize with the OP. I can see where it would be nice to have a list or similar from ED of the things they have picked from our wishes, as well as their own that they would like to implement, or are at least interested in. Yes, many are harder to actually implement of course, even really good ones. Some aren’t good ideas at all. But It definitely feels, at times, that these wishlists are really pointless and end up going nowhere, except starting a good argument or two lol I often wonder If ED actually reads these and/ or takes any into actual consideration. On the other hand a list from ED can/ will end up with a whole lot of” when can we expect this”, “release date?”, “you promised this and that”. I could see the reluctance.

MadKreator replied to =BZ= Maple's topic in Multiplayer
@=BZ= Maple In case a divert is needed for refuel /repair, will that be allowed at alternate airbases(non-captured friendly fields)? Then presuming you need to travel back to Ramat afterwards to land and end your session to keep the airframe in play? Sounds very interesting! -
Any plans to integrate iff into the av8b? Or is it basically considered complete? I’m just talking about using the actual ufc for it, instead of having to punch it in to srs directly

WinWing Orion 1 F-18 Throttle Question on Range without AB Detent

WinWing Orion 1 F-18 Throttle Question on Range without AB Detent
MadKreator replied to Recluse's topic in Winwing
So all I did was change the axis type to a slider then adjusted the curve until it sat about where I wanted it at the detent. It helps but its still not perfect, something similar may help in the helis too. I was shooting for 100% rpm at the detent, should get to 104/105 ish at the same point with water -
WinWing Orion 1 F-18 Throttle Question on Range without AB Detent
MadKreator replied to Recluse's topic in Winwing
Gimme a few minutes and I’ll check it out and reply, can’t remember off the top of my head … Me too my friend, I can’t even fathom what it would be like to have smooth throttle during hover! -
WinWing Orion 1 F-18 Throttle Question on Range without AB Detent
MadKreator replied to Recluse's topic in Winwing
Curves/ saturation in the axis tune can get you around it.. I messed with mine quite a bit on the harrier just for that reason. Having the 104-106% power being right in the middle of that detent transition is terrible water on with adjusted curves helps get that range just below the detent but literally right at the bottom of it so you still have to push into it.. I was actually going to pull it apart and either re-grind the afterburner detent lip on the handle so its smoother but still works, or put a sifter spring in.. Default in the harrier at full forward, right at the detent, mine was only hitting 85% throttle(water off) adjusted the curves so now at the detent its 99/100%( water off) 104% water on but I still have to push in and out of the the detent in hover, super annoying.
