  1. In the viewporthandling.lua, somewhere around line 80 I believe, there is a line that’s says “render =purpose general” you just comment out that line and it will remove the in game mfd’s….I will post a screenshot off the file path in my ovgme folder and also of the lua file and where to modify it, in just a little bit
  2. In SP I always use ovgme to disable the in-game displays. Definitely would be nice to have some built in options for those sort of things. Or at very least have the viewporthandling.lua excluded from IC check for MP.
  3. Looking amazing! @OnReTech Very excited for this map! Excellent work!
  4. Been dealing with this for a long time.32:9 screen also. Have to edit the strokes luas and change thickness and fuzziness to get them to normal size.. also affects some mfd’s like the harrier. It’s pretty much un useable without editing the luas .. I made ovgme mods for them.
  5. Exports were officially reported day 1.. In todays newsletter there is a link to the MT FAQ .. in there it shows a list of known issues, exported displays are in that list. I too would like that fixed asap, but at least it’s on the official to-do. As for the nvg.. I have no idea.
  6. I run a 5120x1440 monitor and a 1920x1080 touchscreen with an 4080, it has no problems with everything on high/ extreme hitting 100+fps roundabout (with some exceptions).. I run msaa x2 but with 1440p I can’t tell any difference between x2 and x4 and very very little between off and x2 ( mostly around the HUD glass and cockpit edges).SSAA off, sslr off, SSAO I toggle back and forth sometimes because I fell like it gives a hair more depth but unless you’re really nitpicking details its not much difference.. I leave motion blur off and depth of field off ( good for cinematic, not really necessary in regular play) grass/ clutter leave to the lower end, not because of performance, just because I don't like 3’ tall grass blades. Global cockpit illumination off as well. Chimney smoke at 1, preload at 100,000, forest /object detail/ distance maxed …really it lots of personal preference. Your system should handle everything topped out without really even trying, especially at 1080p. As far as reshade there are sooooo many filter to choose it’s tough to say these are the best. You really need to try them one by one and see what they do and find the best combo for your screen, depending on how well the lighting is, contrast, color representation on your monitor(s)etc. A good way to start though, with no performance impact,IMO, is go to nvidia settings-desktop color/ appearance while in the game caucuses or Syria on a nice sunny day( or just after sunrise/ before sunset (active pause works great for this) and play with the contrast, brightness etc.. and the big player- digital vibrance.. You can make dcs really pop by just changing that slider.. a little goes a long way on this one.. yes its doing this on a global level, but you’re essentially tuning the color/contrast etc for your monitor to get the best picture quality from it, which imo should always be done first on any screen before faking it with post processing. Of course reshade can add on top of that if you’re looking to boost clarity/ sharpness more or fine tune specific color spectrums or fine tune lights and darks. I ran reshade for a long time. After 2.8 came out with the “ improved colors/gamma/shading etc” I found that I’m very satisfied with just tweaking the nvidia settings. At least on my particular monitor-Samsung CRG9… I can tell a huge difference in the color accuracy/ contrast etc between it and my cheap HP touchscreen.. if the hp was my main monitor I feel I would NEED reshade to compensate for its shortcomings. But thats also a $1200 monitor vs a $270 (USD) monitor. The 2023 and beyond video was cinematically great looking! I wondered too if there was new explosions, fire, shading upgrades etc.. Nope it’s all what’s in the game currently. Whether they use re-shade(which I personally doubt) or if its post processing of the raw video footage( more likely), who’s to say. Point being, every monitor will represent it differently and unfortunately the only real way to get that look is to find what’s best for your particular setup. No, not the answer you probably wanted, but honestly that IS the BEST way. Ive tried several other user’s “these are the best reshade settings” and it in my particular use-case, they definitely were not Now VR? That a whole other ballgame!
  7. Also look up Tactical DCS, not a squad directly but they’re a group that offers lots of training, missions and events for NA and EU time zones. https://discord.gg/tacticaldcs
  8. Kinda of that way with many things. Let’s cram as many “new features” as possible in there but leave some of the most important ones very basic. Pancake lenses great, balanced weight, small form factor great. But lets not bother with oled displays, larger fov, or DisplayPort connection. Hot swappable battery packs, kinda cool but lets not bother with the latest snapdragon processor, the old one will be fine lol… I totally agree @Dragon1-1 The market severely lacks in the entry/ mid range of headsets ( price wise) like the g2. I have a couple quest 2’s and they are fun to a point, but I cant stand the blurred / softened visuals for very long. I’m not huge into VR so the $1100USD price tag is hard for me to swallow to get what I think should be baseline performance out of vr these days. If it was $500 that would be much better.. At this point, if HP is bailing on VR then we’re kind of left with Oculus Quest series and the pico, which isn’t available here. 1100 is kind of steep for a casual wanting the totally standalone vr experience too especially when competing against a $400 Quest. Reviews, through the lens videos and a list of specs only goes so far. Kind of have to buy one and experience it for yourself to really get the real feel. I liked the quest’s when I got them for the kiddos, but once the novelty wore off and I started trying it on pc, I really started noticing where they lack. Now they just sit in a drawer with dead batteries, waiting for the next best thing to come along at a reasonable price( subjective).
  9. Loving the boost from MT! Especially on MP like Grayflag Syria, between 95-130 fps for the entire two hours I was on last night…. Nuts! Yeah there’s a few bugs ( to be expected ) but so far they are minor inconveniences, not game breaking (for me anyway). I’m overall very happy, especially for a first iteration. You guys nailed it ED! Keep up the good work!
  10. As much of a let down as it was to fire up MT and see all the exports look the way they do, ED did say right away that it is a preview version of MT, bugs to be expected. I’m one of those users that didn’t see mega performance improvements, except in heavy missions which run much more consistently fps wise. Mainly because I cap my fps to monitor refresh rate anyway and use vsync . The standard version still works as it should, with the exception of the f-18 rwr which has been a bunch of blobs for a while now. MT is huge for DCS unfortunately people exporting displays are most likely a minority in ED’s eyes and I don’t feel like that is part of any internal testing. The ability is there, but the game isn’t designed with that in mind necessarily(personal assumption). With hardware such as MIP coming to market, hopefully ED will start putting a little more time into checking those things during tests Exporting displays/viewports has been part of dcs for a long time and hopefully they don’t inadvertently push it by the wayside, or just say screw it it’s not part of our design too bad.
  11. I do the same. Although at night the in-game displays are still very bright in comparison(dcs issue). While you’re in there, of you never mess with it, if you kick up digital vibrance on your main screen, even just 15% you can really make dcs “pop”. Almost like using reshade without using reshade.. it will over saturate quickly but its a nice way to make dcs look a bit better with no performance hit
  12. Same here. All exports look just fine at the start screen, but as soon as you hit play they go downhill.
  13. Same here. It’s posted all over discord. BN says the viewport issues have been reported to devs already.
  14. Just fired it up ( Syria full map) and FPS seems to be much more consisted at the airfield. I cap my fps at 60 so helios runs the smoothest, but it held pretty constant while taxiing and looking around near all the hangers that would normally tank the fps into the. 30’s until up in the air. Had about 25 aircraft on that field and 10 f-15 cap flights all moving to the runway. Didn’t get deep into it but on initial trial it seems to have helped. Not saying it wont tank when missiles start flying and there’s hundreds of ballistics happening all at once though
  15. same here on f-18, f-16 and the a-10 RWR.. in the standard version everything still works fine, only Multi-threaded version affected
  16. LOL I’m willing to take the chance
  17. Time to try a full syria mission on liberation with no culling Excited for this! ED does love us!
  18. Just curious if anyone ordered one/ has gotten their pre-order. Looks like a decent little headset. Interested to hear any feedback. Its gotta be better than my quest 2 Quest Pro looks decent but seems a bit steep on price for what it is.--- just saw quest pro dropped price to $1000-- These two look fairly comparable.
  19. I know .. The question marks were for possibilities of things I would hope for in the next patch.. like, “is it coming?”.
  20. -MT? -lighting updates to other maps like PG has gotten? -Normandy 2? -Sanai? … wishful thinking
  21. I didn’t know that…. Nor do I know exactly what a web repository is let alone how to get ovgme to interact with anything like that LOL I have been wanting to check out open mod manager though.. I’ve heard of it, wasn’t sure if its supported more than ovgme( is it worth it to switch over). I have liveries in saved games, backed up and accessible in ovgme and backed up along with the original downloads in another location lol Learned my lesson the first time I had to re-install all of them for 5 aircraft
  22. Thank you, still working on understanding how things in the model viewer function. I appreciate your help!
  23. Oh I was just thinking in general, didn’t know they are different. I was playing around with the f-5e at the moment, to screenshot the various panels, dash , gauges, switches/ positions etc. to pull into photoshop. Sometime when I get the perfect view I want , the camera ended up inside the pilot body, partially, leaving a few artifacts across the screen. Was just thinking it would be cool if that pilot wasn’t there getting in the way lol. If its a large task then I will make due the best I can
  24. A tough part with dcs is it takes a special breed of people, for lack of better term. When I first started, as I said I skipped the free modules, bought a-10 and f-18.. dove into the f-18.. I wanted the clickable cockpits and all but was actually a bit turned off by the complexity of it all.. I was hoping for more of a casual experience.. great there’s game mode.. which I honestly found a little too arcade-ish.. wasn’t sure what I was really looking for. Being off put, I kind of just set it aside, for several months with dcs still reeling in the back of my mind. I started to watch tutorials on the f-18, the more I watched, the more I craved the experience. So I went back at it. I had no idea it would take me months to become mostly proficient in just the one aircraft. After a lot of frustration and cussing at my button fumbling in the beginning, I finally locked my first target with the tpod, got a maverick off and got my first kill. Oh man that felt so good! I was in for the long haul from then on! Newcomers to dcs, especially people browsing steam just looking for something new to try, probably (mostly) won’t be the ones who stay long enough to really get the experience. I don’t know that any aircraft in dcs, as a free module, could help in that aspect. A FF would most likely test their patience too much. Even fc3 although simplified a bit still have more complexities than most general gamers have the attention span for. If ED pulls off MAC to satisfy those “casuals”(not the best term probably),. That will probably be a better into into the dcs world than any free aircraft could provide… Free mods are a good ones for newcomers too, but newcomers wont have the understanding of installing to saved games and fiddling around with things like that, let alone where to find them and how to use them either. What I’m really impressed with is we’re in pg 2 of this thread and there’s no real arguments going on LOL Feels like a real discussion of a valid topic
  25. I partially agree. I don’t think it’s anything that should be done on ED’s end, but a talented 3rd party/ community member/team may be able to create such an open source software for mod creators to up load mods to one place so they are easier to access for those that want them. Personally I like mods such as civil aircraft, military aircraft, naval assets etc, not so much the flyable aircraft, ( although I do have a couple). When I hop on, say Liberation or Retribution and it shows a whole list of mods that I didn’t even know existed, I think sometimes it would be nice if they were all in one spot for easy access. Such as steam workshop for modding Skyrim for example. Actual integration in to DCS, probably not ever going to happen, but the latter sure would be convenient.
