  1. I've had been running 2600K@4.4 w/1080 and 24GB ram with a 40" 4k (I guess you are going for the 43" phillips, I have the older 40" model). When I've upgraded I've done my best to get a proper baseline https://pit.uriba.org/uriba/upgrading-from-2600k-to-8700k/ I assume your 1070 will have slightly lower framerate, but you should be able to extrapolate. IMHO, single 4K monitor on a 2600K is totally viable. Another thing you can try, is to enable DSR on the Nvidia control panel. for a FHD screen, X2.0 should give it a 4K render target. you'll get exact results for your rig and current installed DCS.
  2. I experience the oppisit exactly. with 1.5/2.2 getting a tally on anything was almost impossible. and now with 2.5 it's much more reliable and manageable. PD very much affects the tally distance, and with PD above 1.5 you see significant drop in distance. but it's nothing like what it was in 1.5.8
  3. Suggestion: any way to get a "Glare" lens option? exactly same as "Flare" but without the aperture reflection BS. i.e make light sources bloom with loss of contrast. it would be better suited for VR (IMHO)

  5. Try renaming the entire OB folder in saved games. worked for me (I then copied over just the Input folder over from the old install)
  6. if you look down at the stick you know you are way too forward. you can move the view point arround with CTRL+SHIFT+"NUMPAD arrows" (* and / are up and down). Once in place you can save it with RLAT+KP0 see here.. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3284757&postcount=6
  7. Force IPD also does nothing on VIVE. Only affects the UI layer and overlay... Which makes everything super wierd. However, 3d world is not effected.

I'll start with the hand controllers, from some reason, the hand controllers are rotated 90 degrees from the way the controller is held, and none of the buttons are functional. this is exactly the behavior they had in 1.5. As for IPD setting. it seems to be only affecting UI and overlay, but not the 3d world itself. I've tried closing and reopening the game, but nothing I did worked. What am I missing? is it an oculus only thing? I'm always launching steamVR first and make sure everything is tracking before launching the game if it makes any difference.
  9. Hi predaror, had the same issue. just rename the DCS.openbeta (or DCS if you did a branch switch). once DCS starts up it will recreate the whole folder and everything will work.. (except for the hand controllers, I've yet to figure that one out). then just copy over the input folder from the old folder. Have fun!
  10. I've been flying with HDR on for a long time now, mainly because I like how the sun is blinding you when you look into it. However with differed shading this does not happen, which is very disappointing. I thought the whole purpose was to improve visual fidelity. I've tried to remove the metashaders folder, just in case, but I just mad it worst :| as with lighting is now too harsh and all wrong. (it was better after the upgrade, I deleted the entire folder from "Saved game" initially). any suggestions? Both screenshots were taken with lens flare off. Yes it will add bloom to the sun, but no, I have no 6 pedal Iris nor multiple lens elements to create internal refractions... Not to mention, each eye has a separate reflection.. it's twice the akward.... Heck I have actual lenses for my camera with less lens flare. HDR On - DS OFF DS On
  11. Did someone managed to get the controllers working for Vive? A friend reported his oculus touch work.. but my vive controllers are the same BS they were in 1.5.8. rotated in a wierd angle, 1st controller to be on is always the right hand and most of all cosmetic only
  12. Btw, I don't know if it's a placibo effect or not. I'm running Vive at PD1.5, and it's a lot easier for me to get a tally on bandits. I've flew M2K "guns, guns,guns" IA mission a few times. And I can get a tally on the Mig-23 from 8nm. I can more easily spot him after the merge and it's pretty much gazzilion times better then before. Also when activating VR zoom, it seems that the models on the ground scale up a bit. Buildings become a bit bigger in relation to the terrain. So some sort of dynamic scaling is in use in 2.5
  13. Texture quality should not have any effect on frame rate assuming you have enough VRAM for it 1080+ should not have any issues. From my experience, shadows and water have the greatest effect on FPS. The reflections added on water going from MED to HIGH are halfing fps for me. LOW to MED is less noticable on my system. Shadows between OFf and LOW is also great FPS killer for me.
  14. OOM should not be an issue as the system should have started to swap. Make sure didn't disable the pagefile. I've seen some "recommendations" here in the forum to disable it "to get better frame rate".
  15. It was stated (somewhere) that 2.5 will have manual control over the Virtual PID, which might help with the sense of scale. but it's not "enlarge objects" :( I miss that option too..

  19. I have a stupid request. I've stated training my VIACOM because of my non-native accent. however, I have a huge problem with the Normandy airfields. I have no idea how I should pronounce the french names... Is there a Native French willing to make a quick video and post in on YT? just show the name as written on the screen and pronounce it like 5 times. Thanks!

  21. I have a trackball (M570) as a mouse. however, I bought a second trackball and Velcroed it to the cheapest Kneeboard I found in amazon, and I strapped it on my left knee.
  22. Why doesn't any of the M2K changes appear on the 2.2 change log?? Has anything changed? (Say the FM?)

  24. +1. The most noticeable change I could point out is the M2K radar screen. (A-10C HUD text in the lower right is second). However the last time I flew the a10 is did notice something wanky. I'll need to check if that is indeed the PD thing you describe.
  25. the X(m) should be same HP as the 1080Ti (albit less memory then the Ti). I don't think that you'll get any extra boost from the upgrade. I would check some system matrics, just to make sure you are not CPU bound from some odd reason. In addition, you can try and drop some of the more FPS intensive stuff.. shadows to OFF if you are CPU bound. and Water to MED or lower if you are GPU bound, the reflections added in HIGH (compared to LOW) is a real FPS killer in low altiture.
