1. Thanks for the writeup. I personally use a standalone ESXi 6.7 running Win10. I had none of these problems, maybe cause I'm running on a whitebox so I have an Inter GPU present. anyways, port 10308 is the default. and you need to make sure you tick the "public" option for it to be showing on the server list. So far, I've had good experience, however, I've yet to stress test the rig beyond 4 cuncurrent clients.
2. bumping this thread. I've tried it today with a buddy. Radio worked fine with the tanker as far as I could figure it out. however, when we were on startup, I tried calling up power and Huffer as a RIO or rearm the jet, I would get confirmation, but nothing happend. But when PLT called those, they went online. (incl. rearm). still a DCS thing? any hope?
3. I didn't notice anything like that. However take into account that your head and eyes naturally move together to stabilize the image. So just to be sure it's not a problem. Put the HMD on the desk and record a clip. See if it's still jumps around.
4. Is there a fixed throttle axis value where AB kicks in? Or is it per module?
5. Are you using game capture or window capture? What about DCS with no VR? Can you record then? I'm with Vive, so streamVR and I can record In two ways. The "Jabbers way" where I do a window capture on DCS.exe Or using OBS' openVR plugin (steamVR's hidden layer) to grab the right eye (because speed in the HUD is more important to me in vids then the altitude) https://obsproject.com/forum/resources/openvr-input-plugin.534/ Fun fact, I only mention it because I've noticed it now for the first time. Plugin was written by Kegeyts..
6. And there is no "bomb" weapon selector. You set it to OFF with HUD in AG mode.
7. I actually deleted them 5 mins after this video was taken in an attempt to fix black mouse. I'll check mirrors again later today. Thanks!
8. Not sure if it's a DCS bug or an F-14 bug. but mirrors are not working like mirrors. Tested in VR only (no TIR/FOV shenanigans here) As far as mirrors go, AFAIK if you stick you nose into a mirror, your face will stare back at you.. this is not the case as shown in the attached vid. even further, when you move closer the the top mirror you can clearly see FOV changes as you move forward. again, not how mirrors work. May be out of scope for now, but wanted to put it on record. The following line is not for HB but for you trolls. :) I'm no expert in F-14, I don't need to be in order to know a mirror in not working as intended. at this subject an SME, which i'm probably not, will be an optician, physicist or any other scientifically educated person that have access to a mirror.
9. noticed it too.. in the latest OB I've been feeling like I can't see as well, and I got the black mouse bug again. I have a feeling that from time to time someone in the ED team just has some fun trolling us...
10. I don't think so.. no F-16 from the formantioned PM4 ever shot down anything. It's fictional... Not fantasy ;)
11. Happened to me once or twice. I think it has something to do with the DDS encoding (i.e compression options). if you select BC6H it happens for sure (you need BC7)
12. IIRC, StarScream was an F-15, but I'm totally on board... I'm mocking up a fictonal Israeli Airforce skin based on the 1994 Peace Marble IV F-16s. And eagerly waiting the painkit :) while at it, any tips for a novice? it will be my first proper skin.
13. Haven't you seen the threads since release? The amont of questions About basic aircraft stuff (not talking about switcholigy) is staggering. It's like the plane is an instant buy for people without them even knowing what the plane is... To put it in a very very broad lines. The F-14 is the last 3rd gen fighter. It's not a 4th gen like people tend to think it is. (Being compared to the F-15 all the time). The fact that it even has a HUD and not a giro sight (like all it's peers) is amazing.
14. Why can't you bomb stuff? Tell jester to prep AG weapons and have at it.
15. Laser is never seen in NVG. The IR pointer from the pod is what you see.. Hence the P or B mode required on the litening pod. However, I don't know if said pointer was available on the early lantirn pods.
16. In other software and flight Sims it works just fine. And the same exact setup with steamVR as API works fine. SteamVR is just a midiary between the game and the Oculus SDK. Compared to running the SDK nativly, which doesn't work properly.
17. I'm a Vive user myself, so when I was testing a rift I borrowed from work I was surprised to see stupidly long load times. It didn't go into the pit after 30 minutes. DCS was holding a core or two working. However nothing happened. Killed process, disabled VR, loaded the same scenario in normal time. Re-enabled VR, stupid long times, no cockpit after long minutes. Then a friend suggested to try and run the Oculus with steamVR. Worked like a charm. All this using the current stable. Any ideas?
18. FINALLY! :) what he said :)
19. I only did one IA yesterday, vanilla DCS, no shader mod (I'm on Vive W/1080) It performed very well, displays are readable. But I haven't done very much head down stuff... What struck me is the enourmus size of the cockpit. It's massive! Haven't tried RIO pit yet.
20. +1 on Macross ;) Personally i'll attempt a fictinal low vis of my own... Hadn't skinned anything since FC2
21. Don't do a cold start... Have a host stated jet ready.
22. Any news on this? :) I have all the vector graphics I need for my skin ready to go ;)
23. You only need to know max fuel in the break for a clean bird. Then you subtract weapon weight off that. Personally I think I would just remember the fuel for 2*9 at the break. And then subtract 1000 for each two sparrows and a nother grand for each phonix. IIRC Fuel on the break for an A-6 was 6.0. I assume the cat is higher. And with 2"9+2*7+2*54 you should still have 5.0 or higher at the break (hadn't done the math). that's why 6*54 couldn't land on the boat. Fuel margins were too low for comfort.
24. A lot of.yhe testing was done on VR, just look at the jester behind the scenes video.. They have also already mentioned that the module art was done with VR in mind, so we should expect at least "on-par" experience compared to the rest of the modules
