If you mean the stutters are not showing on the fps graph but instead are purely visual, do me a favor and try locking DCS' fps in nvidia control panel to your headset refresh rate, then do the same in the graphics.lua, see if it changes anything. He's talking about this sort of problem, which is not hardware related. It's a DCS MT problem. Playing around with fps caps and refresh rates seems to help minimise it if not eliminate it entirely.

reported Huey's new performance profile discussion
MoleUK replied to Tim_Fragmagnet's topic in Bugs and Problems
Weigh it down with as much as you can atm, that offsets it a bit. As a bonus you can/will hit 140 knots cruise when heavy enough. Yes it feels wrong. But it's also clear at this point that the old model was waaaaaaay off. It might have "felt" better, but it wasn't a UH-1H, it was actually very significantly underpowered.- 96 replies

reported Huey's new performance profile discussion
MoleUK replied to Tim_Fragmagnet's topic in Bugs and Problems
Yes, I was however responding to the idea that it was "removed from usefulness for major portions of a year". That hasn't happened at all. Nothing in this sim is 100% accurate, far from it. But yes I understand the complaints re: the Huey as it's obviously not right as is. But also: It was VERY wrong before the update to the engine. So if accuracy is your major complaint, you can't really go back to the old FM either as that wasn't anywhere near accurate. The current Huey is closer to accurate than the old one overall , as much as some won't want to admit it.- 96 replies

reported Huey's new performance profile discussion
MoleUK replied to Tim_Fragmagnet's topic in Bugs and Problems
As much as I might agree that the rollout has been half-baked, it is by no means "removed from usefulness". It's actually a far more effective module now. Yes things are obviously wrong/janky, but in terms of utility it's been an upgrade so far. Though I do understand the upset at the FM feeling very wrong atm.- 96 replies

The hind has definitely been lacking in livery variety since release.

There is a very old longstanding issue where ASW could break with DCS that will cause huge fps loss that it can't recover from, unless you send the headset to sleep for 30 seconds at a time to flush the vram allocation. It's always been my understanding that it's a vram problem with DCS not leaving enough free for ASW to function. The visual "wobble" that many are experiencing does tie in with that. The new menu lag I think might be related there as well, this "wobble" doesn't occur when using VD to stream, and the menu performance issues are much much lesser on VD than on link atm. Something about ASW is definitely causing even more problems than it used to though imo.

View distance setting won't mess with LOD's like that afaik. Not plane LOD's, as the object draw distance stays at 80k regardless of view distance setting. I have seen problems elsewhere with plane dots dissappearing/re-appearing based on head movement and/or zoom, they appear to have messed with something in the last patch or two. Been reported elsewhere, but good to have more info on it.
-
There do seem to be some weird issues with dissappearing LOD's on particle effects and some dissappearing plane dots since the last patch or two, it's not constrained purely to the F1.
-
Within the first second or two it completely dissappears before he zooms out further.

DCS Multiplayer Server List Freeze has returned
MoleUK replied to Charlie2496's topic in Multiplayer Bugs
While not ideal, have you tried ticking the favourites box immediately after it starts listing servers? There are some menu screen performance problems ATM in general, limiting it to display only favourites might be a temporary workaround and prevent it from freezing up entirely. -
Any chance something got merged accidentally? Having some odd dissappearing dots going on. Will need to fly more to see if it's consistently the right side of the view where it's disappearing, but it's not right at the edge. The video itself is cropped a bit, so it's happening closer to the centre of vision than it looks here:

A toggle option for this in the menu would be great, as it's both distracting and unrealistic imo.

I've been using the universal shader mod for clear glass canopies for some time, as it helps get past some lighting bugs in a few cockpits and eliminate some very old baked in reflections that look awful. But obviously since the shaders folder fell under the IC it's no longer possible to use this mod on MP servers that haven't disabled IC. Assuming I wanted to start individually tweaking several cockpits to have transparent glass without breaking IC, is there a simple guide for someone with no experience to tweak it? Already tried messing around in gimp with the huey cockpit files to little effect. Beyond that I'd also like to alter the Huey overhead glass canopy to be clear rather than green, and attempt to get a grease mark on the Huey's glass as seen here with the Gazelle: https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/3331373/ Any help or even pointing me in the right direction would be appreciated.

Slow loads fixed, mi8 guv gunpod death CTD fixed. Mi24 now double launches r60's a lot of the time, whether weapon cover is open or closed. Haven't seen any giant cloud shadows as of yet. I swear spotting has changed in VR but need to spend more time to be certain. Distant dots seem to have reduced in visibility, to where I need to zoom in to see them. Previously zooming in would have the reverse effect and make them dissappear.
-
Even with the cover open, it's now launching two at once. Cover closed or open doesn't matter, in effect it is now far more broken than before.

fixed Frequent Crashing when being killed in an Mi-8
MoleUK replied to FusRoPotato's topic in Game Crash
This is now fixed. -
I've suggested that those who are experiencing it try opening the weapon release cover and see if it keeps double launching for now, will see how it goes.
-
The Hind now appears to be double launching R60's far more frequently just to let you know. I believe the listed fix was related to this. I'd only seen it happen once or twice before, now seems to be happening all the time.
-
Only flown a few hours, haven't seen any massive dark patches or any flickering on/off as of yet. I won't use the cloud shadow removal mod for a few days and will see how it goes.
-
Nice, may have to give that a try. Ideally ED would address it rather than require third party workarounds, but ill take what I can get.
-
Shadows off can help reproduce this as it makes the problem worse. I haven't hopped in the F-5 for quite some time, but to trigger it in the Mi-8 you usually need to face away from the sun so it's shining from behind to get this effect: I'll try and remember to disable the clear canopy mod that fixes this later to see if I can get a track for you.
-
Yea unfortunately it requires constant gamma tweaking depending on the time of day and which map it is. And even then it's never quite right. The lighting situation remains my main complaint re: DCS visuals.

fixed Frequent Crashing when being killed in an Mi-8
MoleUK replied to FusRoPotato's topic in Game Crash
20 in a row with the 23mm no ctd, 20 in a row with the grenade pods no ctd, 1st death CTD'd with the guv gunpods. Gonna get back to flying instead of obsessively testing for now lol. -
fixed Frequent Crashing when being killed in an Mi-8
MoleUK replied to FusRoPotato's topic in Game Crash
23mm and grenade pods are both safe, it's only the GUV gunpods that trigger it. Uploading vid now. -
Yep, this got so bad that I resorted to using a shader mod to disable cloud shadows. Breaks IC but lets me keep shadows on without having huge areas of the map go dark, and/or flicker. It can get REALLY excessive: As this is a longstanding bug, having the official in-game option to disable cloud shadows while retaining all other shadows would be much appreciated. I do have the track for this, but it was on the 21st of June and no longer replays since the streagle update. This first occured to me in VR with a totally different set of settings, and appeared in exactly the same way on the track replay in 2d with a completely different set of settings. So I don't think it's necessarily in-game settings dependant. I thought at one point there was a chance that it was trying to project mountain shadows and bugging out, but since disabling cloud shadows via the shader mod I no longer have any issues.
