  1. Thanks for the review, very informative. Shame it didn't work out, I very much liked the idea of it.
  2. That's your problem right there, I would imagine, your OS is 32-bit. There are some threads around here somewhere that will help you out; I'll try and find them, unless someone else chimes in first. Edit: Doh, Bignewy got there first. (Think I preferred your old profile pic Bignewy :)).
  3. Apart from the 600 page manual! What I'm saying is, not everybody wants such a high fidelity sim, with clickable cockpits and massive manuals, that's what Flaming Cliffs has always been about.
  4. Thank you, proves my point. Some people even have both, myself included. Variety is never pointless; it helps ED capture a larger target audience.
  5. Not if you haven't got the time or inclination to learn the A-10C.
  6. Didn't make sense to me either but I think he misquoted and was actually talking about canopy scratches; just a guess mind.
  7. Wags has posted an update to the update (can't link to it, on my phone!).
  8. Amen to that
  9. Just in case you didn't know, when you run DCS World, it'll only check for updates once a day. To manually start the auto updater go to Start menu - Eagle Dynamics folder, should be able to run it from there.
  10. Good good; now the waiting begins... :joystick:
  11. Run DCS World and it should ask if you want to update. Say yes and wait for quite a while. When it's done, you're done!
  12. Run DCS and the auto updater should do the rest. Edit: assuming you already have DCS installed, otherwise, see above!
  13. You done yet? Itching to download this... :)
  14. I would assume DCS looks for a registry key and not the actual install; maybe if you could replicate the registry entries in Windows 8...
  15. Me too. This is the first I've heard or seen of it and it looks like it would be ideal, paired with trackir.
  16. You could reduce the number of enemy aircraft, or disable them completely, in the options.
  17. Have you requested ground power?
  18. I thought ED's sale ended 30th June? Anyway, just buy it now; you'll not need another Steam game after that, for a very long time... :-)
  19. Dropping the visibility range will net you a few more frames but yes, your cpu does seem rather slow for DCS (and it makes no difference that it's quad core I'm afraid).
  20. I'm not familiar with Windows 8, and I see you have tried "compatibility mode", but from another thread on this subject, try the compatibility mode "Windows XP SP3" for your Lock On install.
  21. 25. No, wait, I'm 36! How did that happen!? I remember Ace of Aces on my Atari 800xl, and getting an Atari ST as a joint Christmas present with my sister; that computer effectively became mine when F19 Stealth Fighter was released, I was never off the thing!
  22. I believe this is a known issue.
  23. Where did you download the mod from (is it Ricardos blue pit?) and how did you install it? Are you using JSGME?
  24. I think ticking the "Trueview" box within the TrackIR software/profile will enable the proper motion (e.g looking right 90 degrees in-game, then moving your head forward, moves the view closer to the right side canopy glass, not the front of the aircraft).
  25. Quite often when you start multiplayer it will sit on the map screen for a while; leave the replay for a minute or two, or accelerate time until the 3D environment appears.
