I don't know about Frame Buffer and have no idea what Video Engine does (maybe something to do with rendering a video? Anyway, no idea) but last one is PCI-e bus interface BW and you don't want that one to be fully utilized. It is the limit for how much data can go through from the hardware to motherboard and in most hardware the buss should always be higher (or at least equal to) amount of data the hardware can process.

I am cancelling my OR pre-order. I think I will wait longer, maybe wait for 2nd gen of VR.

Dogfights with guns will always be there. Maybe one day missiles and/or bullets will be replaced with lasers, but when all else fails... bullets will always work and can never be decoyed. I would never rule it out. And I think the only reason why dogfights diminished is because lately all wars were fought with big guys bombing the little guys on the ground. Once the big guy tries to fight another big guy... it will be back in no time.

Multiplayer crashes with Medium/high settings
Kuky replied to roccoo's topic in Release Version Bugs and Problems (Read only)
No, where you got DCS installed makes no difference. -
Not sure if you know or can do this but, I think good way of making the worn out area look more realistic is if you can make that area be more light reflective, especially on edges.
-
I agree, I think heavy paint chips like that are not very common in Su-27. Area around canopy is most weathered one in all aircraft, areas of heavy traffic (stick, edges of panels) is where you would get paint wearing off mostly... not so much on flat area.

Best textures are from images from real cockpit

Game engine as far as I recall, has 1 thread for simulation engine and 1 thread for the sound engine. Sound engine has been separated into separate thread while ago. The single thread usage of the simulation engine can use 1 core at the time only (and I think you don't see 1 same core used 100% because OS somehow spreads the load onto all cores, so that you don't have 1 core at 100% and others at low utilization.

I am sure water is still rendered under all of terrain (in Caucasus map at least, I have never tried to look "under" Nevada terrain :D).

Preload Radius is I believe the radius within which all textures will be loaded into RAM (or maybe vRAM) and it doesn't have (much, if any) impact on FPS, while Visibility setting is for distances of objects (buildings & trees in towns) in mission that you see visually, as well as terrain textures quality/distance (among few other things). Higher visibility distance setting means more objects being visible when in mission, which needs more CPU & GPU power (but has most impact on CPU), and has impact on FPS. Visibility distance does not affect visibility of planes.

Correct, LOW is the lowest setting to get dynamic shadows in cockpit (but they will not be as sharp as on higher setting, due to lower resolution of the shadow texture)
-
I don't know. Developers are constantly making new shaders... the sim is simply evolving into new engine, with new effects. Shadows could be changed/reworked again.. I really don't know (and if I did, but ED didn't announce it publicly, I wouldn't be in liberty to say it anyway) :)

And I want to add about stutters... they can be caused by many things. For me I get them sometimes also when FPS jumps around 60fps. I think its because something in hardware is switching on and off, and every time it does it, causes minor pause (we call stutter). I have mostly solved this issue on my end by limiting my FPS bellow 60. I use Autoexec.lua and set maxfps to 44. It works for me... I don't need 60fps all the time.

For starters, from tester's perspective: I am testing this sim for free, in my free time (because I like this sim and want to be helpful) That being said... we are not allowed to tell you what goes in in testers part of forums, and we do not have the insight what ED is doing, until they do it or tell us about it. I have tried to explain that there has been a change in visibility settings for the terrain config files, and that only backfired, because now everyone thinks this is the cause of all problems they have, which is not correct. This change is NOT THE ONLY CHANGE. I have explained what was done and partial reason why (as sim is evolving and needs adjustments). Most people don't have a clue about what any of the settings does, but they yell when they see something changed/increased. I have recommended users lower their settings... people get offended somehow and ask "why I need to change anything, it was working fine before on same settings?" etc. It is very clear that shadows (in particular, dynamic shadows) are reducing FPS... face it...it is what it is. We have said, use flat shadows (again some people complain about that) and so on. People also need to accept that 60fps on min spec PC is not really expected. For low end PC's you have to accept lower settings... that's it. Live with it or upgrade.

SimShaker for DCS World Sound Mode Expansion - Discussion
Kuky replied to =Andre='s topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
I use 4K resolution, but no re-scaling so I don't see this issue on my end. -
Civilian Traffic... set this to low (more civilian traffic just uses more CPU. You really don't need it) Visibility Distance... this is way too high (as I thought). Please lower this to HIGH, you could even use MEDIUM setting. MSAA... change this to 4x. Terrain Flat Shadows... you can set this to OFF (it doesn't have big impact on FPS, not on my PC anyway) change these and see how you go...

You made it look like a question ;)

You can attach to your post. When making new post, go to Advanced tab... click on Manage Attachments... pick your screenshot file and attach it. When you submit the post it'll be there.
-
There is nothing of that sort being announced by the developers... so take your conclusion from that.
-
Please post screenshot of it. When you say maximum it looks like you have them set too high. You should reduce your setting (one at the time) and see which one gives you most FPS. It's the only way to do it. And now I want to make a "disclaimer": The terrain visibility settings that were changed in 1.5.3 do not affect 2.0.1 as Nevada uses different files for that, and they weren't changed ;)
-
Dieter, your PC is very similar to mine so it should be ok. What are your Game Settings?
-
I (and many others) run the same 1.5.3 as you and I don't have performance issue. The only possible thing that is different is your system & game settings
