Although, we are not sure what currency was 70 about. It could be current pre-order price for Iraq if we talk AUD for example.

No problem! Thank you for checking, maybe one day

Hi @BIGNEWY I know that it was added to internal wish list back in 2021. Could you check please if EWR functionality of CVN or any other vessel (as suggested by others in this thread) is considered at all or anyhow in progress please?
-
Apparently - from the communication via YT comments and Discord, as well as in this forum; it takes longer to bring updates to Afghanistan map due to the received feedback which is being incorporated; large update is brewing and will soon be released; the team that is busy with Iraq is not the same team that is busy with Afghanistan; Afghanistan development is progressing rapidly. I think we will till get chunky update this year. I dare to think it is going to be the very next DCS feature update.

Prices are likely to go up to be honest. I am shocked of some games prices these days but still buy them.

And its a fair game. I wish that options in game actually reflected on the rendering of ground clutter - people who accept lower FPS or can beef up PCs, get what they ask for. At the moment it seems that terrain optimizations are enforced on all users. Then I thought, why we fight? If ED wants the TDK to work in specific way and offer specific visuals, our pitchforks won't affect those decisions significantly. I want ED to succeed. Despite my reservations and bitter taste of recent maps, I pre-ordered Iraq. Not even just North, but full, and whatever. If it is just the valley that looks like it does, so be it. I will fly there and destroy Scuds on that very road.

I think that foliage in trailer is then based on the "trees" and not ground clutter "tech". Ok. I will find out myself. Preordered the whole thing now, if it turns out like Afghan then at least it is going to accommodate CSG which is already a better value for me.

Did you ask?

Could be the reason why it is not accurate in DCS then. Maybe ED didn't find either and used some approximation, but frankly, in the last 15 years of DCS it is clearly visible that the in-cockpit is striving for the most realistic experience, everything outside of cockpit in DCS is approximated based not only on the data availability but also knowledge, code base and talent employment, but also this is a game and game design will have some shortcuts for various reasons, including but certainly not limited to intended audience. I am amongst people who sometimes forget that the World part of the product name, does not mean that everything is simulated as in the real world. Digital Cockpit Simulator should be the true name.

It pops up in the sim when low and slow and the rendering distance is even less than it used to be for me. I am using max settings there are. Thank you @BIGNEWY I will preorder then as this is much nicer this way so it seems Iraq is going to be nicer than Afghanistan

There is one thing I am interested in Iraq map tech - in the early seconds of the video it seems that ground clutter / vegetation is NOT popping up like it does in the sim, instead it is rendered nicely. @BIGNEWY is there any info about whether it was just "trailer magic" or in fact ground clutter is now rendering to the max of PC potential ?

SA-11 engagement issues
Gierasimov replied to -=Grumpy=-'s topic in Ground AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I tested this right now and mu SA-11 groups engage as they should. From max range ~19 nmi. I don't get any problems with them. SA-11-MAX-RNG.trk -
earlyaccess Quality of ground textures, poor transitions
Gierasimov replied to YoYo's topic in Bugs and Problems
But how can you make a main city like Kandahar and have a poor low res patches in it ? -
Iraq Map Improvements over past maps, Size, and Regions
Gierasimov replied to Exorcet's topic in Wish List
I think it was Discord, or other social media. ED could come here and deny / confirm this, that would be nice. It was something along the lines of first we will release North Iraq and post it's EA we will introduce South. It was after the original announcement at the beginning of the year, maybe it was with Wags interview, I don't really remember, sorry. -
Oh.. for a second you were part of ED team, it did not sound like it was your opinion and I had to read it three times. Fortunately issues you mention are not related to this Hornet wish list thread and, while true and valid, can be ignored in this discussion.

From the Iraq announcement: Also, from the community managers:

earlyaccess Quality of ground textures, poor transitions
Gierasimov replied to YoYo's topic in Bugs and Problems
Fun fact - DCS community was dissatisfied with the satellite textures of SA map. The feedback was acknowledged and listened to. Then Kola, Afghanistan and Iraq... If the area is not hand developed, than it should use ground textures without imprints of buildings and other ground elements. If 3D object is not there then don't paint it on the ground, but I guess that is too much work. -
I think this "new terrain tech" ED is marketing lately is the outcome of work for the DCS Earth project. This is going to be the "new" DCS. Larger maps are only possible by doing this kind of scenery tricks, so that it is profitable. I don't like it, I wish Marianas was the "new tech" but I also understand it is unrealistic to expect that level of detail in terrains that span such a large areas. I was very disappointed with DCS Afghanistan when flying COIN missions in DCS AH-64D module, I switched to Hornet and Viper and the Afghanistan looks great at high altitudes when doing A/A or stand off weapons deployment.

Prince Sultan Air Base seems to be quite far from the Al-Ahsa airport and looks like outside of "green" map focus area, I wonder how ED decision process looks like.
-
Yes, it does seem that ED is mostly steering away from anything military in their maps in favor of detailed tourist experience, this is great as well but should complement the military side and not dominate it. However, I don't agree that Syria and even Sinai have the same problem. Syria particularly is heavily militarized map with numerous military installations, important strategical POIs and even having destruction models for many strategic and also civilian POIs and still many coming. Even ED's NTTR map which by definition is serving military training purposes lacked training range modeling almost as if EDSA is censoring military installations on purpose - however those are publicly visible and described already.
-
So, WoT is the primary focus of ED right now, with Afghan and Iraq, with a new Abrams, MRAP, and... and three T technicals. No IEDs, no Ts, no other assets. Both theatres had boots on the ground, and were mostly focused on door-to-door fighting or otherwise urban warfare. eye candy is surely appreciated, I like the trailers, but then I come to empty map in mission editor and start putting things together...
