As in: ED is limited to specific budget they can spend on the art for their product and prefer to "outsource" that to the skilled artists in community. Hence we often get DCS XYX skin contests.

Gierasimov replied to LimePartician's topic in DCS: F-35A
F-35C would be a nice addition, maybe one day... -

SA-11 engagement issues
Gierasimov replied to -=Grumpy=-'s topic in Ground AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
You are correct! I watched your tracks and also modified (again) a bit to see but it clearly is weird that if target is in hot, Buk engages from max range, any maneuvers and the engagement is a dice roll rather than anything else. @BIGNEWY can you please check with devs if this is intended or a bug please? SA-8 Engaging Glide Weapons
Gierasimov replied to Whiskey11's topic in Ground AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
@Whiskey11 are you able to reproduce this? Post a track if so. I tried with JF-17 and with Hornet, glide bombs are not engaged by SA-8 in my tests. I tried several SAM / AAA systems and only SA-15 and SA-10 seem to engage glide bombs. There is also 'Engage aerial weapons' waypoint advanced task that can be set to off (it is on by default). Could be used to control SAM engagement rules if needed too. -
The next newsletter will be about the fact there was update today, sale and some spooky community server (as promo). So it will eventually make it to the newsletter, but you are right, this kind of information is a good example for the weekly news.

SA-8 Engaging Glide Weapons
Gierasimov replied to Whiskey11's topic in Ground AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
I just tried in single player and SA-8 did not engage LS-6-500 at all but SA-15 did without any problem. -
SA-8 Engaging Glide Weapons
Gierasimov replied to Whiskey11's topic in Ground AI Bugs (Non-Combined Arms)
This is by design and not a bug as far as DCS is concerned. DCS divides weapons into bombs and missiles, in DCS bombs cannot be detected by SAM systems whereas missiles can, all glide weapons are considered missiles from the DCS standpoint and therefore can be detected, engaged and destroyed by SAM systems (as well as AAA). It has been like that since I remember (years). -
I guess it will be like it is with Hind. Full original cockpit and full EN translated one. The actual one will be dependent on reference aircraft ED is going to simulate. So far they only confirmed it is going to be 9.12 Warsaw Pact export version, however this could mean very different things as far as cockpit labels go; therefore I think it will be like it is with Hind.

DCS - 2025 and Beyond / Christmas Newsletter Wishlist.
Gierasimov replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS Core Wish List
For sure the latter. They mentioned redoing ATC, AWACS and general comms already numerous times so technically it is being worked on. Numerous times they also mentioned it is in fact huge task and not a big one. -

Gierasimov replied to Dangerzone's topic in DCS Core Wish List

Makes me wonder if UM had expertise in coding aircraft would the quality exceeded that provided by HB? Anyways, Syria map is the Queen of DCS terrains, now just need Fulcrum!
-
How would that work better for you? Still need to download the update, right? So if you download it in one go or in parts... Or if you don't want to update particular terrain then uninstall it since not used right? Then you will install it if ever want to use it and it will install its latest version. No? Get a bigger drive

Sice you gave estimates for Afghanistan updates, it would be nice if you at least pointed out the revised timeline here, that's the newsletter item after all. There are two delays - next big update to the Southwest; Still coming in 2024? Update with Eastern region; 2025? Will improve this and all future maps? Unless you specifically wanted newsletter readers to believe that old maps such as Caucasus and NTTR were going to be refreshed with the newest TDK "tech". The last time I said "I found a new approach to data migration; hence the project is delayed" I was challenged by my stakeholders to reveal what it was and why I hadn't thought of it from a get go. I would like to know what is this new approach about and what maps specifically going to be affected please.
