As yes, the F18 had a special option to disable realistic TDC so that one did not require depressing the TDC and moving it at the same time - but it was still problematic for the A/G RDR EXP box/crosshair slew function so I had to map a separate button just for TDC depress. I am wondering (hence the post) if I need to do likewise in the F15E (with my stock Warthog hotas) for certain functions like that. (The F-15E has no special option to disable "realistic TDC" at the moment.)
-
Would there be a situation where I need to hold down TDC depress while moving the TDC in one of its directions to perform a function? Is there a certain function in say the A2A or A2G radar that would require an action like that? I am mapping my warthog hotas which doesn’t have a 4-way HAT with a depress function suitable for use as TDC (other than a slew w/button mod replacement).

thrustmaster warthog f-15e castle switch issue
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to Raven434th's topic in Controller Questions and Bugs
I have a Warthog F-16 stick castle switch (no depress function) in my case. So I mapped Modifier + Castle Fwd as Castle Depress, and there is no need to hold down Castle Depress while pushing Castle Fwd to get HUD IN CMD. Just Castle Depress (Modifier + Castle Fwd in my case), then release, then Castle Fwd. Gives me HUD IN CMD when in A/G or NAV or INST. If I do this in A/A, it won't appear on the HUD but is there if you switch over to A/G (Castle Fwd one more time) or press the buttons for A/G, NAV or INST. -
My HUD brightness knob was turned up to the max already
-
Yeah the HUD brightness is much too light in the day time even when maxed out...

This maps has the sense of being neglected. But I came across this.

I think by now we understand the preorder and EA 'game'. What consumers need is a bit more industry regulation and clarity on the timeline with such business models.

Agreed. His tutorials have helped a lot of ppl. Sure some vids may not be accurate but even ED's vids lack clarity occasionally, and some 3rd party developers tutorial vids are half done. Some others lack indicators and zoom in like Razbam's F-15E earlier tutorials. I usually watch from a few sources to get the full picture.

Have you checked out Volk on YouTube? He's got good content on the Ka-50. And Viking too.

GR has the most modules covered. Good first go to source. RedKite is one of the best for formats - concise and to the point, but he doesn’t do as many tutorials unfortunately. GS is great if you want dogfight lessons but who always wins gets predictable quickly. I prefer properly edited and concise tutorials and not those that require you to hit forward every now and then to move past unnecessary content.

SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Auto hover is WIP and affects auto slave. The aircraft can spin continuously at times esp when auto slaving to a target left of cam center. -
Any attempt to auto slave to the left will result in the helo rotating to the right. The only way to auto slave to the left is to move the TV crosshairs right first when in auto slave, then move the TV crosshairs left. But it can sometimes all go 'crazy' causing the helo to keep rotating right. When that happens, I turn auto hover and auto slave off, recenter the TV cam, then activate auto hover and auto slave again, and move the TV crosshairs in an attempt to get it to slave properly again. Something to that effect. (Latest Open Beta, MT version)

SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Auto hover is still there but is WIP. You can try it. But releasing auto hover can sent me into a spin at times. Auto collective is gone and might be gone for good, for realism reasons. I hope they can put it back for SP users. Auto speed/altitude is gone for the time being, hopefully to be reworked and put back. A bit of a bummer, like 2 steps forward, 1 step back. I was trialing this module before and after the update so the change was quite stark. While the FM was questionable pre upgrade, things generally worked. -
SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
Basically at 90% max load it's better, which means about 50% fuel when fully armed. At 100% max load, you could lose altitude and crash when at low speed/transitioning to a hover if not careful, even at sea level areas. As mentioned elsewhere, there seems to be a pedal trim issue and auto slave bug (works and then spins suddenly and stops working). Auto hover works but is WIP. Without getting into the technicalities, I find strange things happen sometimes, like spins, sideways rocking, having to put in lots of right pedal. Might be just me but I guess the new FM will be tweaked for a while. -
In the updated Gazelle, the scope and tablet with Devrim's v1.2 English Gray Dash cockpits installed, appear fine to me unless I missed something. Screenshots clarification: "New Default" = Updated Gazelle with no cockpit mods. "Old Devrim English Gray Dash v1.2" = Updated Gazelle with said mod.

Yeah they need to clean up the key binds and add missing ones for completeness like the vivianne controls. Panel and console brightness dials, the names need to be swapped. More hotas friendly options need to be included also.
-
Devrim's old English/Gray Dash cockpits still work but I was told it has issues rendering the new sight and tablet although I couldn't tell and have yet to make a detailed comparison. I was hoping they would add a stock English pit with the upgrade.

Pedals central position trimmer issue: What I observed is this. Every pedal delta plus a trim press is always measured from the pedal center and is always added to the left of the last trim position if the pedal is left of center, and likewise, is always added to the right of the last trim position if the pedal is right of center. The problem comes when say, both red and white indicators are on the left, and you reduce your trim delta (rightwards) by an amount that still leaves the red indicator left of center. You think that you will bring the white trim indicator rightwards by that amount but it will actually add that amount leftwards. So for example, if you want to bring your last pedal trim position (where ever it may be) say, rightwards by delta X, you must ensure your pedal position (red indicator) is right of center by delta X before you hit trim.

I am ok with the takeoffs but do notice the increased rocking back and forth when attempting OGE hover.

We need an update to Devrim's English Gray Dash cockpit too. -
SA-342 Gazelle 2023 "FM" Update
GrEaSeLiTeNiN replied to Polychop Simulations's topic in SA-342M Gazelle
I was in the midst of free trialing this module when they upgraded the FM. This zippy bird now has a tendency to lose altitude (fully fueled and armed) if there is no translational lift. I haven't noticed any VRS effects yet. Auto hover is there but wonky. Is the white text for the autopilot speed/altitude gone from the controls indicator? How do Gazelle pilots know if those are in active hold apart from observing the speed and altitude numbers? -
I see, thanks. Didn't notice the problems though. I was hoping for a stock English pit in the upgrade.
-
Can the old skins still work on the updated Gazelle? (Devrim's English Gray Dash cockpits still work for me.)
-
Hmm.. after watching Casmo's vid, I decided to do a quick test. The takeoffs seemed smooth to me. Just a little left cyclic and very little left pedal. Did I miss something? Track attached. (Latest Open Beta, MT version.) Apache Take-Offs.trk
