  1. Awesome Cowboy... I too have had some mind blowing moments in VR Dogfights since getting the S. Agree with this is “ what simming is meant to be like”. Cant count how many times I just go “WOW”. We have come a long way since I started with Janes Fighter Anthology.
  2. Geeeze this is a thread about updates. Not the official update thread. What is so hard to understand about that
  3. Disappointing. Hopefully, problems will be solved today but sounds like it will be delayed. What a shame. Brighter side is my S is working great and VR is already on a new level. Should only get better when this patch drops. Already amazed but ready for even greater performance, so come on ED. Ready to have my mind blown even more. <S>
  4. I have been flying quite a lot with the S after getting my USBs figured out. It did not want to play nice with the Inateck card (it is crap and will be replaced) I had installed for the first Rift (The disconnect issue). Not a real big deal because I have lots of ports. After going to a MB 3.0 port I have had absolutely zero problems with the S. No stutter, no blackouts etc. Very pleased as everything is smooth as silk. And with the clarity over the Rift, nice. I really don't pay much attention to the reduced SDE, so I don’t find that is an issue. Measured my IPD (65) and set that which made a big difference. I only fly MP, usually hours long custom missions, smooth play with zero crashes for any reason. I run pretty high settings in VR with a PD of 1.6. Planning to increase that after the patch to see how far it can go and see what happens. Distance from the lenses makes a big difference for me, close as some have stated didn't work, adjusting further back made everything sharper, go figure. I guess YMMV on this. Also, I don’t use ASW. Not seeing artifacts as some have stated. No matter where I look. Mirrors on! F14, F18, Harrier. I really can’t complain about anything with the S at this point. The improvements for me are great. The immersion is off the charts. I have no issues spotting air and ground targets. I love the fact that just last night I never lost sight of a Mig 29 in a dog fight. Yeah, I splashed him. Really looking forward to what today’s patch will do for us. I'm hoping we will be able to increase our settings as a result. Also liking the ear bud sound option, actually like it better than headphones.
  5. You all must be relatively new here.
  6. What is the latest. I just cant read the whole thread but did get through half of it. Wish to be on the list. Is there a link to a central location for all the pertinent info?

    U.F.O.

That’s what happens when you step outside your spacecraft without your space suit on. You best get medical attention and have that looked at. But then thats a perfect step toward mummification so you can go to Orion with the Egyptians.
  8. Doubtful since they have not even said hello? Doesn’t bode well...
  9. And OPTIMIZE FOR VR! :music_whistling:
  10. Great Module...can’t believe it has been a year...time to get the systems completed and add the carrier module! Time flies when your having fun! Thanks ED!
  11. I don't get the point of the secrecy. Why not just tell us what it is... But then I guess all the fun of all this speculation, entertainment value and surprise when it is revealed would be lost.
  12. Bummer... that is so Sad.
  13. Opinions vary, CV1 was usable by me. Dont recall anyone saying it is perfect. If you want to be immersed in the world, its a different thing vs the 2d world on the flat. In that respect, its night and day. So what ever floats ones boat. Immersive world then VR. 2D eye candy, yeah the flat screen gives you that.
  14. A nice set of ear buds is the ticket. I just wrapped them around unobtrusively with the buds dangling short in the ear areas. There to stay with no cord issues and they sound great. I have the Noise Cancelling Sony MDR-NC13 set I used for air travel. I paid $80 for them like an idiot. But they are of good quality.
  15. I think he is jokingly referring to the lack of the microfiber cloth. Edit: ooops Sniped by dburne! :megalol:
  16. Thanks...I would guess a-lot of users issues could be related to this...Will give this a shot... but Wow, this doesn't say much for their Quality Control. EDIT: I took the mask off to try to unplug the cord but found it was solid and hard to unplug, I didn’t want to force it. I pushed it to make sure it was tight. So not really sure I needed to.
  17. Seems there is a bug regarding turning Oculus home off after a session and back on and not getting anything on the screen. Reboot only thing that fixes it for me. Also, looks like it wants to see your sensors or it is not happy and wont cooperate. So keep them handy for starting I guess. I dont mind this so much right now cuz you can leave home open and running between sessions. But certainly dont want to have to reboot rather than it just run normally. One would think that with so many users seeing this... they would also have seen this in testing. That said, runs great for me in DCS. Just had an awesome session doing Carrier work.
  18. Wholeheartedly do agree with the vibe of this thread. Yes DCS is quite awesome... and now even better now that I can do it in my Rift S! So Amen from me as well. <S>
  19. Fortunately, we do get regular updates. Something many take for granted and is a bit unusual for “Games” but then, this is a simulation with many parts. So I’m just thankful they are as frequent as they are. Spoiled much? And “I want it all and I want it now!” :music_whistling:
  20. Nice mods especially Brickdust’s F14 cockpit, but currently neither pass MP IC. Bricks will soon though I believe.
  21. Updated my Nvidia drivers to the latest 430.something Disconnected old rift boxed it up. Connected the S but it didn’t like the Inateck USB. So the setup did not find it. Switched to MB 3.0 and it took. Setup was fast and easy. It goes through a firmware update. improvements in the setup since no external sensors. Play area setup is too easy. Cord is longer. Only need one USB since sensors are built in. Sound kinda sux but there is a connection for aux sound. I have some high quality ear buds I plugged in. Awesome sound now. Head set is more comfortable to me. There is a rubber nose piece you can easily pull off (dont need it) to be able to peek at the the keyboard. Yay! I did not adjust PD. It seems just fine out of the box. I’m on 1.6 in DCS. Could probably increase that. I did not adjust IPD either. When at the Oculus GUI there is a pass through feature where you can see your surroundings, just not clear though but nice feature. I flew around for awhile in the F18. VR is awesome right? I turned my VR settings in DCS up right much before I flew with no issues. Cockpit looks awesome and the world looks good. Clarity looks good, colors look good. Seems all is brighter. There is still some SDE but not as much. Depends on background like light sky. Definitely improved and doesn't bother me really. Tracking is solid, no issues. I think it is a worthy upgrade. BTW... Zuckerberg is definitely an Alien... some kind of Mutant Grey.
  22. It is in Early Access. Which means, by your definitions, you are not up for it yet. So continue to wait for release while pilots like me are enjoying the heck out of it. You could read the F18 thread. Bugs etc. and get all the info instead of expecting someone to write it up for you.
  23. Thanks! <S>
  24. Looks like your half empty glass may be filled soon! Heres hoping for that!
  25. Did you guys miss this? Improvements are coming...Hopefully, it will make a noticeable difference. 50% is significant. From what I read from Wags, they will release this update when all maps are optimized (Terrain Engine). Rift S orders deliveries are being scheduled as we speak. Would be awesome if update coincides with the Rift S acquisition! https://forumsbeagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3869786&postcount=2333
