  1. I guess I understand why it's taking so long then. ;) In my experience finding flaws in the code as well as type-os can be time consuming where other environments are much more comfortable. Did not know this before.
  2. +1 I´ll probably be able to watch it tomorrow night at 22:00 CET, but that would be sad for all those who can´t join. Or what about technical issues that might prevent one from watching it?
  3. :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:
  4. I didn´t dare ask, but it´s been 2 1/2 years since we first heard it´s a real thing. Wouldn´t mind some kind of statement as Raven described.
  5. True, your work looks great
  6. I see you also like the Huey. How about transporting VIPs between casinos, perhaps even fire fighting missions and police/search operations after a jailbreak from Clark County jail?
  7. Yeah, that´s exactly what I had in mind  Now go blast that Startosphere Hotel!
  8. Interesting title. I wonder wether aliens are gonna take over Area 51 or perhaps we get some Indianan Jones Crystal Skull type of scenario. Or maybe both.
  9. Imagine, a server browser with some actual functioanlity ;) :D
  10. I think the mindset behind this last phase in the development has been to simply keep everyone busy with what they were doing anyway and keep integrating the new stuff into the sim en passant, when it´s ready. It´s all bullet points from a list that´s been worked on for a long time. Perhaps minus the blocking bugs that still need to be ironed out, DCSW2 is more or less at the stage where you could release a public test candidate and build on that in the future, adding all the features on the list, like it has been with many things in DCSW. So it´s not really different from how they have handled new features in the past, the only difference being that we don´t see any intermediate updates and bug fixes on that version ourselves because it hasn´t been released yet. ;) I guess I can understand how conflicted you may become when all you want is to release something to the public that you have been working on for so long. It is the better choice to push through to the very end before opening yourself to feedback and criticism, with DCS being a product that is apparently very much in flux at the moment. As I see it, you gotta get something done, establish a certain firm structure first so people don´t complain about stuff that you were gonna fix either way. (and BTW, I´m sure that the features that are currently still being worked on were originally on somebody´s wish list anyway :)). I hope I didn´t misread your post. I want it no less than you for sure.
  11. Nice update! (but please, why those small screenshots) Your stuff looks awesome, once it´s ready I´ll gladly redeem my A-10C - beta-voucher :D All the stuff we started to hear about years ago is getting really close now. And what´s that compared to waiting for Fallout 4 for 7 years anyway?!
  12. Sounds real nice, doesn´t it? It´s still a Bethesda style open world RPG, so there will surely be a fair number of quirks and glitches. On the other hand animations actually look quite nice compared to what I was expecting. :) Just before I watched the demo today I was thinking that they must have been working on FO4 for ages. I´m actually a little more excited for this than for DCSW2. Shame on me, right? ;)
  13. Pretts sure that´s not going to happen. Only some visual imrpovements for the old map so far.
  14. Woohoo!
  15. That would have been nice to see.
  16. I read online that the Square Meter price in las Vegas lies somewhere between 800 and 2100$. How big was the nttr map again? ;)
  17. After the troubles they had last year ED might possibly be a little more careful to set up a demo with software that still has some serious blocking bugs (as Wags stated). I do not remeber what the nature of their problems was last year. As I perceive it, there is not as much hype about OR as there was last year, so it could principally be a good chance for a game like DCS to receive more attention. If the focus is not so much on simple and highly stylized action games that target a wide audience to show off the technology, you might actually notice a more quiet flying game that has some huge potential in combination with OR.
  18. Yup, I was wondering about that, too. Preliminary OR support is there, so perhaps there will be another demo around at their booth.
  19. Agreed. When Rage was released, I was fantasizing that a new Fallout title might use the id tech 5 engine to overcome the wonky animations, the many repetitions of objects and particularly textures in the game world, but then it would probably be ~250GB to download (and still have constant texture pop-ins, no matter how fast your SSD is)... I´m not even sure if the engine could handle the world design and drawing distances associated with an open world RPG. The interior shots from the trailer look like there are lots of the same/similar assets as there were in FO3, but then the outside shots convey very much what you describe.
  20. +1 Admittedly I still like the old FO3 teaser more: Ron Perlman´s voice at the end still gives me chills. Let´s hope FO4 will be just as darkly funny and cheesy.
  21. Perhaps it´s a good thing if there´s not too much hype from the start. As long as they don´t mess with any major mechanics there´s not much potential for it to be a disappointing/bad game. People were calling FO3 a somewhat unoriginal "Oblivion with guns" when it came out. Really, I couldn´t think of anyone better suited to make a new Fallout title than Bethesda. You are right - gotta wait and see.
  22. Yippieh! I like both the old and the new Fallout. Nothing wrong to me with the visual style/graphics of the fourth installment. When did animations in Bethesda RPGs not look a little awkward? :smilewink: I would think that FO4, like FO3, uses an updated engine from its TES-predecessor. So far, it looks way better than Skyrim. Their strength is not to push graphical fidelity to the absolute maximum, but to offer unique, unobstructed open world gameplay / interaction. That´s what makes those games as great as they are.
  23. Thank for the update and thanks for moving us back to the DCSW-forum.
  24. Haven´t checked this thread in a while. I really like the texture work - on the particle filter, the tail section, the skids and the fuselage. I hope you will get somewhere with the people from Airbus soon. Are they asking for protection of the FM-data contained in the module files or what do they mean by "rebuild"?
