I know I'm stretching it here, but would it be at all possible to "record" the tracks created by LOTATC so that we can review things later on using a replay function?

Hi DArt, filled in the survey. A feature request; is it possible to highlight the current chosen BRAA line to another colour? I know that double clicking will center the screen on the FROM contact but with mulitple BRAA lines extending from that contact, it makes it harder to see which BRAA line I'm actually calling out. Thanks for the great support to the community.

This bug is older than 2.5, it was present in 1.5.7 also. Dynamically spawned infantry, mortars, MLRS or artillery refused to move, fire and in some cases act on detection.

What Would You Think About a Fully-developed CA Module?
Looney replied to rassy7's topic in DCS: Combined Arms
There is so much to update in the current CA module to make it a great addition to DCS instead of a mediocre addition. Given the work ED is going to do on the module, giving us the options as discussed in previous threads without making every tank a seperate module with high-fidelity views and controls will go a long way in keeping CA owners satisfied. -
In NATO, jets are controlled by a "Weapon Director", usually on board an AWACS. If there is no AWACS, the pilot will receive information from the ground and build up his own air picture using own sensors. Back in the days, Russians relied on Ground Controlled Intercept which is basically the same. With the IL-50, the Russians have the equivalent of an AWACS so my guess would be they work on the same principle. In NATO, Link systems (11, 16, 22) are used to share sensor contacts throughout the theater of battle. The higher the link number, the more modern the system is and the more it can tell about a contact. Link systems cannot work with higher or lower number systems as they are wildly different in architecture and hardware. The Link system gives rise to the use of radar "picket" stations such as ships or AWACS where the contacts this unit sees, is shared with all other who have their active radar switched off in order to avoid detection. I know of several russian jets having some sort of Link system between them, the KA-50 has a datalink system but as to their ability to share contacts with ground stations, units or ships, I do not know. An interesting read on the different Link systems: https://www.northropgrumman.com/Capabilities/DataLinkProcessingAndManagement/Documents/Understanding_Voice+Data_Link_Networking.pdf

Techincals are already done in a mod by Ranger79 IIRC. For the rest, nodody is stopping anyone from modding these in. An official Littel Bird has been ruled out by the manufacturer and interested developer so you won't be seeing an official one.

hmm, should be a fun thing to check

When learning the Mi-8, be prepared to dance the Conga a long time before you master the hover. Take it slow and easy, slowly increase collective, small steps and compensate on what you see. Veer to the right, add left pedal. Rolling forward, reduce cyclic input. All in very small steps. If the helicopter is stationary and not moving, increase collective a bit and do the whole thing over again. Once you're in a hover, check the settings of your control using LCTRL-ENTER to see where they are. Land and do the whole thing again, maybe somewhat quicker this time because you know what will happen and where your controls should be in the end. Do not try to compensate any wild behaviour of the helicopter as this is usually Pilot Induced Oscillations by overcompensating with one of the three control inputs. Simply land, wipe the sweat from your forehead and start again. Baby steps my friend, baby steps. She's a woman and wants to be coaxed into a stable relationship, not forced into cheap labour.

Ah, so that's where all the trees went! I can't find any large patch of trees on the Falklands. One only has to check Google Maps and photographs taken by others to confirm this.

I contacted support with my transition problems fro BS1 to BS2 and, all help from ED aside, they were unable to correct the problem. I ended up buying the BS 2 module since the migration didn't work out.

A lot of jets have RAM turbines. If all else fails, at least you have some hydraulic an power to actually fly the plane. It's fail-safe drop down, so once deployed it's there until the end, which, in most cases, will be at the end of a runway.

Mi-8 crashes on start-up every time in multiplayer
Looney replied to backspace340's topic in Bugs and Problems
Played on our own MP server last night with the latest build. Flew in excess of two hours in a scripted environment with lots of skins, units, different player airframes and did not observe a crash. Have you tried a cleanup and repair? -
Create Fast Mission - On EASY setting - Getting My #$% Kicked
Looney replied to SnowTiger's topic in DCS: Ka-50 Black Shark
Join a virtual wing and train with them. Blacksharkden and others will help you out a lot! -
Having joined our regular training session I flew an unarmed Mi-8 slick to the Stennis and landed. Upon landing, I broke my gear and opted to repair on the carrier. The carrier was doing 25 knots, heading 000. My nose was pointing to 270 when I requested repairs. Repairs were successfully completed and, as per ED style, I was hoisted up over the deck a few feet and plunked down onto the deck. I noticed the helicopter kept bouncing, wheel brakes on, ever so slowly until it tipped over the edge and went into the drink.

As stated numerous times before, the russian airforce isn't very thick with their information regarding their modern jets, making it impossible for ED to simulate one properly.

I don't think theýre user operable like a SA-13 or SA-15. It'll be like the SA-6, place them and let the AI do the work.

Winch outside the left door?
Looney replied to irfanahmed1979's topic in DCS: Mi-8MTV2 Magnificent Eight
You can simulate its use via scripting (fast-rope) but the winch itself is not animated nor functional. -
Universradio is also widely used.

See that rectangular gauge to the left of the engine RPM gauge, below the blade pitch angle indicator? That's the most important gauge to check for loading the main rotor. The three red tabs on it are C, H and O, C for max cruise load, H for hover, meaning short time loading of the main rotor and O is the overload indicator. Before you take off, do a hover check and see how much load you put on the disc using this gauge. If you are above the H, land and reduce weight. If you are below or on H, no problem. You'll loose weight by burning fuel If it's a short hop to the first high landing site, dive into the manual and calculate your max take-off weight at the highest peak of your trip and plan accordingly. Chuck's guide should have a good calculation method available IIRC.

It's deferred shadows that's causing the light problems. About weapons, I don't know but if I mouse the buttons needed to set-up the weapons, everything works fine and when squeezing the trigger, weapons get launched or fired without problems

Check the home cockpits part of this forum, there should be plenty info there.

Adding a few dampers to keep it in place shouldn't be a large mod. Anyway, I'll need to order one first before doing any work haha. Thanks all!

What would users recommend for springs/cams/shafts for controlling a helicopter? I'd like to have no center and the stick to remain where it is when I let go.
