  1. Guess That Movie Quote! 1. 1980s 2. 1950s 3. 1940s Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. 1. “He’s up! Great mother of god he is up” 2. “Where do we get such men? They leave this ship and they do their job. Then they must find this speck lost somewhere on the sea. When the find it they have to land on its pitching deck. Where do we get such men?” 3. “Yes, sir. There's one more thing you might as well know, sir. The 918th got through today, and bombed the target when nobody else did. And if Providence ever drops into my lap, another chance like that to give this group the pride it out to have in itself, I may have radio malfunction again, sir.” Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. You rock are doing the lords work! Great looking group! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Thanks NineLine. My offer still stands if needed. DCS is the only game I play and it would be an honor to play a small role if it would be help. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. [REPORTED] Screen flickering since 2.5.4 I did not say it was an AMD exclusive issue. I am pretty sure I wrote the opposite as well as stating the issue is not related to drivers going back to Aug 2018 after testing every version between then and now. FYI, I am going to offer to send my Vega 64 to ED for testing if they are not currently testing on AMD to help solve the issue (more data points to narrow it down). That is why I asked the question and provided AMD specific info. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Nine... quick question. Do you know if ED tests with AMD GPUs? It seems odd that you are reporting the issue cannot be reproduced when there are so many reports of issues among players with different hardware setups. AMD seems like a common theme. Which is why I ask. I was able to replicate the issue with every driver set going back to August 2018 on my Vega 64 (Windows 10 1809....it took a minute but hopefully worth the effort). The issue itself doesn’t go back that far, but it does seem to point more solidly to a recent change in DCS since no difference is made taking GPU drivers back long before the issue started. Next I am deep diving into DCS logs to correlate modules that flicker with ones that don’t looking for warnings and errors. Maybe something will turn up. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Worth upgrading CPU? You “might” see a 15-18% improvement upgrading to a 9900K based on IPC (Instructions per cycle) gains for single threaded performance. Cpubenchmark.net has charts for synthetic benchmarks. It isn’t an apples to apples comparison, because synthetic benchmarks are not 1:1 comparing to a specific game workload, but you can get an idea of what to expect. You will get the most benefit tweaking settings and dialing things back until you get the performance you are comfortable with. You might want to consider wiping your system and installing Windows and drivers from scratch (or running a driver cleaning utility). Going from a 980ti to a 2080ti should net more than 20fps. TLDR: If you want absolute max performance, and are willing to pay for an incremental improvement, you will see gains, but it won’t be night and day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. The chip will OC itself with PBO (Precision Boost Overdrive). If you are not planning on running more than one PCIe-SSD (M2 drive), more than a single video card, or an upgrade to Ryzen 3000 down the road (which may not be backwards compatible on every AMD Socket AM4 motherboard (B350/X370/B450/X470), you don't need the X470. The X470 boards are more likely to get BIOS updates to support Ryzen 3000, but it is up to each motherboard manufacturer to add support. Find the cheapest B450 with the best reviews that has all the features you want (number of USB ports etc), and you are good to go.

  10. If you are not interested in overclocking, you can drop down to a B450 board. You won't lose any performance. No point in spending more for features you won't use.
  11. I am running a Ryzen 1700 @3.8 with a Vega64, and I net the same FPS on average (within @5%) as an 8700K @5Ghz with a 1080 based on what Intel users report on these forums. Intel is faster, but it is not 34% faster in DCS (or any other game or workload).
  12. You need an old-school (pre-TrackIR) setup. 1. Hat switch with snap views - Use Number pad....looking down from the top 7=front left, 8=front up, 9=front right, 6=right, etc. 2. A modifier button for "up views" = Hat becomes snap+up....mod+7=up-front left, mod-8=up, mod-9=up-front-right, mod-6=up-right....etc 3. 0=down+front for instruments With this setup and practice you can track other planes from all angles.
  13. Raw CPU Ghz is not as important as IPC (instructions per cycle). A video card will help, but it might not be enough. For a decent mid-range card....AMD 480/580/590 (4-8Gb) or NVidia GTX 1060/1070/1070ti A couple of the biggest hits to performance in DCS are Civilian traffic and Shadows. Disable both and see if you have better results. If you can swing it a Ryzen 1600/2600 on a B350/B450 board with 16Gb DDR4 and a video card mentioned above would be a very good performer for low dollars.
  14. This came up last night on r/hoggit and has a post with working config code. There is also a post here from a player named “Scooternutz” that has an attachment that has files to export additional MFDs (Mirage, Viggen, etc) https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=3061821 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Just saw this thread update. Happy to help keep the server going. Thank you running this fantastic server!
  16. Just set the X52 stick aside and make sure nothing in DCS is mapped to the axes. Then map the throttle and FF stick to DCS.
  17. I am not a real pilot... In WWII and Korea tanks were dropped when engaging in combat, because combat was a guns only affair. Knife fighting with extra weight and drag is a death sentence. The American Ace Tommy McGuire was killed in action when he attempted a tight low-alt turn with tanks in his P-38. It is commonly believed he would have pulled off the turn had he dropped the tanks. In a world of modern BVR combat, and US air superiority in all theaters to date post Vietnam, there is no need to drop tanks as part of a mission profile. Though I am sure pilots would drop them when going into a knife fight.
  18. I think it has something to do with the weapon library/database. If I had to guess, I would say updates to DCS make changes/adds, and the values in an existing mission file no longer match the updated version in the game files when you load the mission in the editor. Just a theory. No need for pitchforks...
  19. I can confirm that the issue is present on the Radeon RX Vega 64. Whatever it is, it is not GPU or driver specific.
  20. Some tips to get into the action sooner and keep the game fresh... 1. Consider downloading some of the user created dynamic missions where you can spawn units to attack and to attack you. 2. For planes with INS set the option (under the Special tab for each module) to not require alignment. 3. Get a copy of Tacview to review your flights and see what killed you, and get a better understanding of the threats and how to handle them. 4. Toggle "immortality" on in the options. You can continue to fly the mission, and still learn.
  21. For those interested... https://forum.virpil.com/index.php?/topic/220-hybrid-t-50-base-with-warthog-stick/&tab=comments#comment-1411
  22. Huey.... You will hate it at first and then it “clicks” and you smile every time you take it up and beat the air into submission. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  23. It depends on the server, but you will see a mix of most modules. There are definitely a lot of Hornets (it's the new hotness and it gets frequent updates with new features), but the Mirage is always represented and flown. In fact it is one of the toughest opponents in multiplayer when flown well.
  24. I have all the confidence in the world that HB will deliver. Thanks for the update!
