Ryzen or Intel mid-range CPU
SVgamer72 replied to Westwood's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
Ryzen for the additional cores/threads. You may not think you need it today, but when you add in SRS, Voice Attack, Discord, etc. etc. you are doing more than you think. At some point down the road DCS may go Vulkan and take advantage of more cores. All things being equal, you are better off with 6/12 vs 6. -
I you cancel the torrent download as it starts it will give you the option to download over HTTP.

Do you have admin rights on the router? It could be a firewall rule or DNS settings on the router causing the issue, but you would need to login and poke around in the Router settings to know for sure. Ty manually entering a DNS setting for the Adapter/NIC in your PC. For instance put in Google (8.8.8.8) for the first DNS entry.

Once the link is created all new files will be written to the new location, but think they are in writing to the original location. -

You can use a symbolic link. This is a common practice in Linux, supported by Windows, and a nice way to move files/folders without disturbing apps. https://www.howtogeek.com/howto/16226/complete-guide-to-symbolic-links-symlinks-on-windows-or-linux/ -
It depends. The most recent (last couple of years) "critical updates" for Ransomware and RDP applied to all versions of windows up to Win10 1607 (first release). Later versions of Win10 did not need patches. crypt32.dll has been patched more than once over the years (various Windows versions). It is a core component, and there is a high likelihood it could be all versions. We will have to wait for more details.

Seeing who is around from the old day of LOMAC
SVgamer72 replied to BigOworm4u's topic in New User Briefing Room
I’ve been around since Flanker first released (1995?) in the US. Pre-ordered it from Babbage’s Software if my memory isn’t faulty. It is amazing how far things have come, and it keeps getting better. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Anything with ginger in it helps some people. (gum, beer, supplements, etc) Short sessions to acclimate your brain over time to the lack of sensory feedback to what your eyes are seeing seems to be the most effective.

Thanks for the update! I am a huge fan of the MiG19, and it gets better with every tuning pass. I wish you all success in 2020. The 23 should be a lot of fun when it arrives. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am really hoping they can break the @4.2-4.4 barrier” I always lose the silicon lottery. :) I have yet to be disappointed since getting a 1700 at launch, and it just gets better and better.

Great video and can't wait to start learning the JF-17!! I really liked the static display with the weapons and Deka logo. Very cool way to showcase the module.

You have to do some lua tweaking (passes MP integrity check), but another member of the forums figured it out a while back... https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3056704&postcount=21 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Welcome to the madness... 1. You need to develop situational awareness. So that means getting on voice coms, making sure your radios are tuned to AWACs, and working with other players on intercepts. 2. Most people fly low in MP. Either to stay off player radar or to stay off AWACs. 3. If your radar or jammer is on, you are telling everyone around you where you are (you show up on their RWR or radar displays). Use Human or AI AWACs BRA calls (bearing, range, alt), to get within engagement range before turning it on. 4. AIM-120Cs are only good in close (10-12 miles at best) on a actively defending target. Human players are much better than AI at cranking and notching, and the veterans can typically anticipate your launch and defeat it unless you are within no escape range. 5. For IR missiles cut your throttle to 0 and pump out flares. Coming out of afterburner isn't enough to lower your signature to help your flares work.

Have you run any benchmarks to see if your system is running right? That seems unnaturally slow for a Ryzen 5 at @3.8 on a 20180ti. Are you running the latest BIOS for your MB, and the latest AMD chipset drivers for the AM4 platform? What is your RAM speed? Ryzen runs best 3000-3200Mhz What are you using for cooling? Have you monitored temps to make sure your CPU isn't throttling due to high temps?

The combo is fine. If VKB and Virpil didn't exist it would be the top dog for DCS. With a couple of tweaks you can make the throttle even better than what you get out of the box. You can use TARGET or vJoy+Joystick Gremlin to assign button presses to the analog slew (basically use the keyboard commands instead of the wonky axis when you hit 90% Up/Down/Left/Right) if you don't want to pay for the slew upgrade. You can also get a 3D printed AB push through detent: https://www.shapeways.com/product/9JAPAE26V/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent-80?optionId=82333125 https://www.shapeways.com/product/3MJPNE2SV/warthog-throttle-part-afterburner-detent?optionId=63799442

Obutto Rev3 here as well. The Volair Simpit is cheaper, and was my second choice. If you are serious about a dedicated "seat", consider the cost of piecing something together over time vs a pre-built seat. The total cost in the end is about the same if you use similar materials (80/20 DIY for example), but you have creative freedom. A newer option on the scene from Derek Speare... https://derekspearedesigns.com/chassis.html

Best joystick without getting a divorce
SVgamer72 replied to Father Cool's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You can learn anything with muscle memory and time. The fancier HOTAS make it easier, but are not required. A good stick (gimbal and sensor) is more important than total button/hat count. If memory serves the Gladiator Mk II has a gimbal similar to CH in design. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
I waited a long time for the CM2 grip, and suffered much of the same frustration. Virpil products are worth the wait.

Loving the EA release of the Viper!!! It may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it is a shot of rot-gut whiskey to me! I don't need it to be smooth or aged to get my buzz on.

I had an issue where the TGP TV mode would not display with exports enabled. Might just be my end, but I figure I would mention it here.

Combat sim AI (not just DCS) leaves a lot to be desired. It just can’t do what a human mind can do when it comes to exploiting strengths and weaknesses (it’s own or yours). The campaigns are great for learning to properly fly mission profiles and to learn how to effectively manage and fight the airframe you are in. Multiplayer against other humans is the best teacher to take it to the next level. Especially when you can talk through and debrief to work through lessons learned etc. Tacview is a fantastic 3rd party tool to replay your fights to see what really happened in 3D space. Not all servers allow it, but when it is available you will be amazed by what really happened vs what you saw from the cockpit. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
