1. Add this to the bottom of your monitor config file to center Jester menu: GU_MAIN_VIEWPORT = Viewports.Center (https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3848708&postcount=41) 2. Use this mod (or any of the other kneeboard mods) to re-position the kneeboard with multiple monitors: https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3856045&postcount=9

Is there anything you don't know about HOTAS controllers? You are a walking encyclopedia of information, and a hero of the sim community.

You keep circling back to the Tomcat....Get the Tomcat. It exceeds all expectations. System performance wise it is roughly the same as the F/A-18C. The trainers are great, but if you already have the F-5E you already have a more powerful version of what they offer (guns, bombs, rockets, IR missiles). The MiG15/F86 are fantastic modules, but they are limited to Cold War servers/scenarios, and like the trainers offer a similar feature set as the F-5E (only slower and less technology in the cockpits)
-
You already have all the features/performance of the X370 chipset. So you really don't need to change the motherboard unless the one you have now lacks features you want. The nice thing about Ryzen is the CPU and Chipset cover all the features, and the motherboard provides the outputs (ports, slots, etc). Ryzen runs best on Samsung B-Die RAM @3200. If your current RAM is 2133, then investing in 16Gb (2x8Gb) or 32Gb (2x16Gb) of 14-14-14-34 B-Die should result in a noticeable performance increase.

If you can afford it, the F/A-18C is going to give you the most bang for the buck. Even in it's unfinished state it has more capability than most other modules. It is easy to learn, and hard to master. Perfect for investing a lot of time as more features are added. If your budget doesn't allow for that and you want to move mud and perform SEAD, I recommend the A-10C, Harrier, or Viggen. The F-5E is amazing, and worth owning if you have the resources to afford it in your library, but it is extremely limited compared to other modules in the ground attack area. It is marginally better than a P-51 or F-86 with regards to delivery of rockets and bombs because it can carry more. If you already like the A-10A, the "C" will add all the icing onto that cake that you are currently missing (fully clickable cockpit, and all the fun precision guided munitions). You can very quickly learn how to bomb, shoot mavericks, and use the targeting pod without having to dive deep into the systems. The Harrier is also a good option. While it is not fully complete yet, it is complete enough to pound the ground with a similar load out to the A-10C, and it is a decent within visual range dog-fighter that can defend itself. It is a gamble on how long it will take to mature to completion, but I see people flying and enjoying it every day despite the rough edges. If I wasn't addicted to the Tomcat, I would still be flying the Harrier along with all the other modules depending on my mood. The Viggen is unique and awesome! It is a striker that is best suited for a fast (edge of Mach) nap of the earth approach/attack. It can also carry 4 mavericks and a couple heat seekers to make things interesting. The last patch introduced a bug that can cause the game to crash when you try to use the Viggen. So if you decide to get it, be prepared to wait until the next patch cycle to use it.

Welcome to the Internet and the “Age of Negativity”. Everyone is an expert and the new cool is to tear down others rather than lift each other up. It’s an easy trap for anyone to fall into, and it gets harder to take the high road every day. It’s easier to coast downhill.... The vast and overwhelming majority who read posts from those with real world experience learn, benefit, and grow from them without making a comment. Don’t judge the majority by the actions of a vocal minority. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Gonna order some Crosswinds, question...

I got the width adapters to fit the pedals into the frame of an Obutto Rev3 game seat. Other than that they are perfect as is out of the box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

please recommend another "soft" stick
SVgamer72 replied to derammo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
You will love the Bodnar stuff. I rewired a CH Throttle Quad with one, and it resolved the jitter/spiking on all 6 axes. Add vJoy and Joystick Gremlin, and I can map buttons to axis positions etc. So no need for the defunct CH manager (not that it would work with the new controller board) -
please recommend another "soft" stick
SVgamer72 replied to derammo's topic in PC Hardware and Related Software
please recommend another "soft" stick The electronics and analog potentiometers in the CH sticks are never going to be as precise as magnetic sensors. They just don't have the resolution. You might see a slight improvement getting a newer CH stick and throttle, but it won't ever be the equal of the newer products on the market. EDIT - thread below says TM cougar, but CH kits are in the first post If you are a DIY type person....Check out this post....A user on these forums sells contactless (magnetic) sensor kits for CH sticks and throttles. This would update them to the best they can be with the low res system board they come with. You could also replace the system board with a newer higher res board (Leo Bodnar for example) and have an updated Fighterstick CH never made... https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=220916&highlight=Cougar+sensors VKB and Virpil will offer the most modern, precise, and adjustable options. Totally worth the cost and wait in my opinion, but that may not be what you want. A Warthog center mounted with an extension will be MUCH lighter than what you feel out of the box. Or grab the T16000m. It uses the same sensor as the Warthog. You lose some buttons and hats, but it will be very light and precise. -
More noob questions on 1st module 1. Get the module that calls to you and you have an emotional connection to. -It’s a study sim. You will invest time learning the interface (muscle memory for HOTAS and clickable cockpits), and learning the systems. Why waste time in a plane or helo that doesn’t resonate with you? 2. Most modules come with basic training missions, and you can easily supplement with the manual, Chuck’s Guides (just google Chuck’s DCS guides), YouTube videos, user created missions, campaigns, self created missions, and asking around on forums ,Discord channels, etc. 3. There is an English cockpit mod for the Su-25T in the user files download section of the main DCS site (along with tons of missions, skins, etc) https://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/en/files/722567/ 4. All planes/helos can be made available on MP servers, but you can only fly the ones you own. Many servers limit planes by side (East vs West) or era (WWII, Korea, Cold War, Modern). 5. Jump online with he Su-25T, join a voice channel (Discord or SRS) amd engage with other players. It won’t be long before you are up to speed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Here is a mod I put together (standing on the shoulders of giants) that moves the kneeboard to the top left corner and passes IC. https://forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3856045&postcount=9

I was mistaken about the up modifier. I apologize for the misdirection. It applies to other games, but not DCS (unless I am missing something). I think you can still get the results you want. The steps are kinda wonky....I haven't used the method below for years, but I tested it today and it still works. There are built-in snap views, and then you can setup 10 custom ones. You should be able to setup snap views that cover your view outside the cockpit without gaps or the need for an up modifier. "8" can cover up (and slightly forward), and "2" can cover up and looking back. Notes: A. The keystroke "RAlt+Num0" saves the current snap view position B. "RCtrl+RShft+Number" key moves the camera for fine tuning C. You will be mapping "Custom Snap View 0-9" for each module Example = Left Rear Snap View mapped to Custom Snap View 1 1. Use the number keys to move the view to where you want it, and then fine tune with camera controls (B above) 2. Press LWin+Num1 3. Press RAlt+Num0 to save the new snap view (you can test by hitting Num5 to center and then LWin+Num1 to verify the view was saved) 4. Map "Custom Snap View 1" to down+left on your hat switch

I’ve flown it since it came out... 1. It is arguably the hardest planes to land without bending something. - “Easy”’once you learn the nuances, but doesn’t that fall under “mastery”? 2. It has one if the most limited views out of the cockpit (and dirtiest for most of its life without a mod or dev intervention ). - Arguably the top DCS module for difficulty in spotting enemies and maintaining SA. The limited range of the weapon systems highlights this every sortie. 3. Pushing too far past Mach 1 will stall the engine just as easily as a few seconds of negative G. - It is by far the most “hands on” with regards to keeping the engine lit of any module in DCS. 4. The flight model punishes you severely for exceeding AOA limits, and she hates to be slow. - You have to keep the MiG-21 in the sweet spot of the envelope and there is very little margin for error. I could go on.... The initial question was what was the hardest to master, not how easy is a module once you figure out how to fly it right (“master” the quirks) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Love your work!!! FYI, if you are adventurous you can use notepad++ to change "Jester" to whatever you want with the replace command... My RIO is currently "Slider", but if he keeps dropping lock, he will be named something NSFW :)

1. MiG-21 - The "vodka rocket" is always trying to kill you, and the view out the cockpit is a preview of your front row seat at your own funeral. 2. Mi-8 - She is a large girl that can move like a ballerina in the right hands, but it takes mastery to make her dance. 3. F-14B Tomcat RIO - Mastering the AWG-9, and being a second set of eyes is going to be one of the toughest roles in DCS. 4. A-10C - Deeply complex systems that require time and study to truly master.

Heatblur plans for pilot's attitude/mindset towards RIOs?
SVgamer72 replied to D4n's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
Heatblur plans for pilot's attitude/mindset towards RIOs? People are hesitant to team up with someone they do not know in most cases. Ask yourself.... 1. Are you engaged in the commonly used voice channels? 2. Are you a “familiar face” on the server? 3. How are you asking? (Randomly clicking on seats is not the best way to get a ride) 4. Have you tried the Wingnanfinder Reddit and Discord? (It’s like Tinder for sim pilots.....) Other factors... 1. Pilots flying solo may not have enough time to team up. They may not want to waste your time. 2. Pilots already airborne may be out of missiles and headed home when you ask to join (no real point in accepting a RIO at that time.) AWACS/GCI may not up all the time. If the E-2/A-50 is shot down, you won’t get BRA calls. If the early warning long/short range radars are destroyed, you won’t get calls. Check in with other players when you join and ask about the status of these systems. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Intermediate Experienced DCS User w a few F-14 Questions
SVgamer72 replied to redmantab's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
The Tomcat is analog (no fly by wire), and does not stop you from inputting more control than the airframe can handle. She will try to do whatever you tell her. A. Add a curve to your stick for pitch to dampen the amount of input you feed in. Start with a curve of 20 and tweak up and down until you get the feel you want. Maybe you will end up back at 0, but at least you will get a feel for it. B. Watch the AOA meter to the left of the hud and try to keep it no higher than 15 units. She will do more, but that is the sweet spot and bad things happen if you exceed that and are not in total control. Try A and B and see if you have more success keeping the wings on. Is it me or is the F14 getting owned in multiply Player?
SVgamer72 replied to budguy68's topic in DCS: F-14A & B
I think it is a couple of things (mostly related to how new the 'cat is).... The Eagles and Hornets moved down into the weeds avoiding the Phoenix and working the notch while the F-14 pilots (myself included) are making the mistake of staying high and trying to rain long range death down. If we keep the radar off, keep low, and leverage Datalink to stalk targets like a Su27/33, I think we will see the Tomcat getting more effective. Jester is gimped at the moment, and can't hold a lock. You are damned if you do and damned if you don't when you launch with a friendly in front (odds better for getting a team kill than splashing a bandit). Smart Tomcats drivers are fighting with 1-hand tied behind their backs, and not launching, giving the advantage to blue. Human RIOs are still learning the AWG-9 so things are getting better, but it is a work in progress. -
I think you might already have your answer. The F/A-18C is going to be the most capable due to all the systems it will ultimately have implemented (it is no slouch today, and is A2A, A2G, and SEAD/DEAD capable right now). At the end of the day, you are the one sitting behind the controls. So go with your gut. The module you want to fly is going to provide the most value for the time you invest.
