  1. I went from CH to VKB Mk4 to MFG, and you won't be sorry upgrading. I hear spring noise from both the VKB and MFG, but it is not that loud. It is just the sound of springs being stretched and returning. I am sure you could stuff foame or something into the center to dampen the small amount of noise they make. I can't imagine you need to do more than that.
  2. What percentage of your flying is in VR?
  3. I used to play on a 17R3 laptop with no issues. I ended up getting the Graphics Amplifier to run a 10 series card instead of the built in 980m on an external monitor, but it was fine for DCS. Ultimately I went back to a desktop tower, because I wasn't gaming on the move as much as I thought I would.
  4. Are any of the axes lines in DCS for the module(s) settings red?
  5. I love my Ryzen7 system. DCS (and every other game/workload I throw at it) runs great. I have zero complaints. I am skipping Zen+, but I am eager to see what Zen2 brings to the table.
  6. If you can't live without the absolute fastest speeds for all components then Intel is easier to get to where you want to be for a price. 2666 or 2933 with tight timings will benchmark about equal to 3200 with looser timing on Ryzen. Also do your homework on the new "9" series. Intel has been shipping golden samples to reviewers. It looks like a paper launch due to limited stock/availability and the chips are not universally hitting the high OC's at low voltages/thermals. You could end up paying more for guaranteed RAM speeds only to lose out on your anticipated CPU overclock.
  7. I have personally won the "silicon lottery" once in my lifetime. I had an old Slot 1 Celeron 300 that would overclock like a beast back when dinosaurs roamed the earth.:megalol: I love Ryzen, but I would caution anyone who wants higher memory timings than what is printed in the manual to select their parts very carefully and to be prepared for frustration and disappointment.
  8. A) Single rank is more likely to clock higher A) 4x8Gb only supports 2133mhz on Ryzen officially I am running 4x8Gb 3000 on a R7-1700. With a lot of tweaking I can get it running 2666 on X470. For me it is not worth the cost to buy different RAM for a small chance of running higher frequencies. I am waiting for Zen2 vs upgrading to Zen+ for slight gains. It is no easy task getting 3200 (or more) on Ryzen. People have done it 2x8Gb, but info for successful 4 stick systems is hard to find using Google-Fu.
  9. Is it connected directly or through a hub?
  10. Get the F-A-18C 1. You said yourself "...F-18 is perhaps too much of a plane to start out in, however it does hit all the marks I'm looking for" 2. It is "complex", and it will get more complex as systems/features are added, but you can fly it just like the F-5 (dumb bombs, guns, and sidewinders), and never touch the RADAR. - It is as complex or as simple as you want to make it. 3. Go with your gut/heart. - DCS is a study sim. So pick a plane that you want to study...
  11. YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to drop the hammer. "What the hell are we fighting for? Ah, just surrender and it won't hurt at all You just got time to say your prayers Yeah, while you're waiting for the hammer to, hammer to fall" - Queen
  12. My personal choice for an "ideal" setup for DCS today would be.... TM Warthog Throttle (it is sold separately) VKB or Virpil Stick (the gimbals are better than the *TM Warthog) MFG Crosswind pedals TrackIR All of the above would prob eat your whole budget, but they are best of breed for what is available today. *The TM Warthog stick is a great product, and you would not regret getting one, but there are better options.
  13. Received mine today. Install took about 15 minutes. Works perfect. Totally worth the wait!!! Thank you for an amazing product.
  14. 100% true. There are couple of interesting theories that will be proven or disproved in the coming weeks... 1. NVidia is downplaying/hiding RTX performance gains in non-Raytracing games to move overstock of 10 series chips. - Recent reports that they forced board builders to take back returned chips that went unsold when the mining bubble burst support this theory. 2. NVidia is downplaying/hiding low RTX performance gains in non-Raytracing games to manage the negative PR hit when benchmarks are revealed. No promises have been made with regards to current games. Either way it will be a mad rush of tech news and forum posts. What is that old Chinese proverb/curse...."May you live in interesting times"
  15. Of the three choices, hands down the DCS:A-10C All are great modules, but for completeness it is no contest.
  16. Time to do a happy dance!!!! Viggen - The module I never knew I wanted, yet stole my heart like no other.
  17. 25-35% (projected gain) RTX 2080 vs GTX 1080.... Assuming there is no RTX Titan Xp hiding behind the curtain, and based on pricing and tech specs (CUDA cores etc.)... RTX 2080ti = Upgrade from Titan Xp RTX 2080 = Upgrade from GTX 1080ti The 1080ti is @20-25% faster than the 1080. That could potentially cut the 2080 down to @10% faster than a 1080ti
  18. If you have @26 minutes to spare, AdoredTV has a great video on what you can expect for performance from the RTX in the absence of real benchmarks. He literally does the math based on the published specs, and shows where NVidia is using smoke and mirrors in their marketing. NVidia has the full marketing/hype train in force, but they are focusing on anything but raw performance vs the GTX cards, and that should be a red flag to everyone. The bottom line is that unless they are hiding something (other than the truth), we won't see gains much higher than 25-35% at best.
  19. Thanks! The name didn't change, so I didn't realize it was different.
  20. Where is the version of the software that allows you to re-map and custom program buttons? Only the "light" version is on the site available for download. Thanks!
  21. Is there a pre-order wait list that we can sign-up for?
  22. Typical bottlenecks.. 1. CPU IPC (Instructions per cycle)= Newer generations of CPUs typically perform more instructions per cycle than older CPUs. Raw speed in Ghz is important, but IPC AND Ghz is what you want. https://www.cpubenchmark.net/singleThread.html 2a. RAM = You want the fastest RAM your CPU and Motherboard will support. The faster the data moves between the CPU and RAM, the better the system performance. 2b. = Having more RAM means you system can load more game/app files into RAM. RAM is exponentially faster than HDD storage. If you system has to keep moving files out of RAM to make room for new files, it will be swapping with space on the hard drive. Swapping/paging out to the HDD excessively will result in slower system performance. 3. Drive storage = Games/Apps have to move from your hard drive and into RAM to be used. The faster the HDD, the better your games/apps will perform. SSD drives are ideal for gaming.
  23. For best performance with DCS.... AMD Ryzen 5 (1600 or better) or 7 (1700 or better) Intel i5 (6600 or better) or i7 (7600 or better) GTX 1070 or better 16GB of memory min SSD hard drive
  24. Absolutely! It shows up in DCS like any other controller.
  25. Ordered 7/16, and received 7/21... All I can say is WOW! One of the best DCS/flight peripherals I have had the pleasure to own. Maps 100% to the A-10C (obviously), and with a little imagination works with every other module... Modes/Auto-pilot/Radar/weapons etc for FC3, Easily mapped to Harrier and F/A-18C with some tweaks Easily mapped to M2Kc INS panel Easily mapped to SA342 for NADIR Wow....just wow....
